Decent, Great Cinematography!
16 January 2013
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is about a group of people who get trapped in a Supermarket after a Tsunami hits the coast of Queensland, Australia. But they soon find out that they have more to worry about than being in a flooded grocery store, there's 2 12 foot sharks swimming around them, and their hungry.

This is a good popcorn flick for a Friday night, it ain't no "Jaws" or "Deep Blue Sea" but the shark effects with the outstanding 3D make it a decent night in. Sure there is no character development, some of the acting is a bit on the poor side and cheap CGI (talking about the tsunami). You can tell the budget on this film went towards building sets, 3D camera's, hiring a decent film crew and building two 12 foot sharks.

The cinematography of this film both underwater and above water is one of the films highlights. Shot with Sanctum's high definition digital 3D camera set up. Another highlight of the film is the sound, another outstanding piece that makes a punch on any decent 7.1 surround system. These two elements are the films strong points. Although not the best Austrailan film made but one of the best when it comes to cinematography and photography.

6 out of 10.

Skyfall (2012)

The Return of Bond!
6 December 2012
Warning: Spoilers
This is my first review of 2012 and its the new Bond film "Skyfall". After the disappointing "Quantum of Solace" Bond's mission this time is to keep a computer drive that has a list of British agents from being used against them. He chases the man who has it and they have a brawl on top of a train.

Eve,(who is actually "Moneypenny")posing as an agent sent to assist Bond has them in her cross hairs but hesitates to take the shot because she might hit Bond but M orders her to take it. She does, and hits Bond who falls into the river and is believed to be dead. A few months later, the British government is upset with MI6 for losing the list; specifically with M. She is told that she'll be allowed to retire but she refuses to leave till the matter is resolved. So she returns to HQ to work on it but as she arrives, there's an explosion. See the movie to find out what happens!

This time Sam Mendes takes the helm and I must say this is the best Daniel Craig Bond movie yet! The film goes back to the original Bond elements missed in Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace such as music, gadgets, characters, cars and girls. Again the classic gun barrel returns but at the end of film, the film loses a star for that. The locations, big budget sets and stunts are photographed and filmed near to perfection! What made my day was the return of Bond's classic DB5 in the third act of the film. Still with the mods that were installed in Goldfinger, along with the classic Bond theme, you have one hell of the third act. Saying that however the film has some sadness with one of main characters getting killed and the DB5 getting blown up and destroyed by Bond's enemy Silva played by Javier Bardem in the last 10 minutes.

With the return of the original Bond elements, Great direction, acting, editing and writing this is very well in the top 5 of best Bond films. 9 out of 10!

Scream 4 (2011)
The Weakest Of The Series
12 October 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Set 10 years after Scream 3, Sidney returns to Woodsboro to promote her new book about the killings that took place all those years ago but her return brings another Ghostface putting all her friends in danger and making everybody a suspect.

This entry of the series wasn't required. They completed the story in Scream 3! This movie basically opens the series for more bloody sequels. I mean its great that Wes Craven, Kevin Williamson and the three main stars along with half the original film crew returned for this movie but they should have left the series alone and stopped at 3 which was originally planned! The identity of Ghostface is a let down too. The writing, while not a let down is pretty poor. However the acting is solid and the direction is outstanding, hence why this film deserves 5 stars, nothing more! Sorry if I disappoint Scream fans but this was the worse one in the series, Scream 3 wasn't perfect either but it was better then this.

The films running time is short too only 98 minutes long its the shortest Scream film to date, while the original cut was 118 minutes long.

Fast Five (2011)
9/10
Solid Sequel
21 April 2011
Warning: Spoilers
My first review of 2011 is "Fast Five" and once its non stop action. After my major disappointment with the fourth installment my first thought walking into the cinema was pretty much the same reaction after walking out of the fourth movie. Sure the movies now are much focused on action instead of cars however the car scenes in this film surpass the ones from the fourth movie. Justin Lin must of taken pointers after the fourth movie to cut down on the CGI and use more real life cars and stuntman, this has paid off.

The overall result isn't perfect but its sure a hell lot better. The cars in this film mainly are American Muscle V8's with the odd Japanese import every now and then. The writing of the film is a lot better and there actually a story and character development that was missing from the fourth movie. It was great to finally have most of the characters from the all the movies into one for one big adventure.

The only cons about this movie is running time of 130 minutes, to date its the longest "Furious" movie in the series and should have been cut down. Another con is lack of races. Sure there where cars but not enough racing to pleasure the hardcore "Furious" fan. However there is a few show stoppers that will please these included the fight between Vin Diesel and The Rock, the million dollar quarter mile race which includes the four main characters in Dodge Chargers and the climax which includes a giant safe, two bad ass Chargers, a bridge and a lot of smashed police cars.

Younger viewers will be turned off this movie due to the lack of racing and the films length, I counted at least 15 young people walking out after 30 minutes into the film. The first major races doesn't happen until a hour into the film. Recommended

The Final Destination!
15 February 2010
Warning: Spoilers
This third sequel to the 2000 original basically starts like how the others started. The main settings is a race track and a movie theater. Don't expect anything different which hasn't been seen already in the previous films. The death scenes in this one are just mainly over the top gore feasts and more people die in this entry. I counted about 12, opposed to the other films which had about 5 or 6. This one shot in HD 3D. The film makers basically threw everything into this one, too much said by some people. At a 81 minute running time its the shortest entry of the series. And it shows sometimes that the film was rushed. Basically the only thing that saves the film from disaster is its wonderful 3D effects. It really hasn't got much of a story and no character development, just 3D effects and large amounts of blood and gore.

THE 3D VERSION If you are going to watch the 3D version of the film here's a few things to point out. 1st. The whole movie is in 3D, not segments! So if you have bad eyes I would avoid watching this film because it is hard on the eyes. 2nd. If your watching the 3D version on Blu Ray. Keep in mind that's its presented in SD not HD. Unlike the 2D version on Blu Ray which is in HD. 3rd. The 3D really doesn't work well when been watched on a LCD television the 3D looks cheap! It looks better on a plasma television and an old CRT (tube) television.

THE 2D VERSION The main version of the film. The only major thing to point out that most of the 3D effects are gone or been changed in this version. But however the film does look great in HD and the colors blend in well compared to its 3D counterpart.

Only for die hard fans of the series they will like this final entry to the series. If your not a fan...Avoid! there's really nothing left to say about this film. You have seen it all before.

Average Sequel
15 February 2010
Warning: Spoilers
My first review of 2010 is "Into The Blue 2: The Reef". The story is about two divers played by Chris Carmack and Laura Vandervoort who love to explore hidden treasures at a bottom of a local reef. One day after a day of exploring they are approached by a couple played by David Anders and Marsha Thomason. They tell the young divers that they want to hire them to explore the reef and find a rare artifact about Columbus' hidden treasure that is reported at the bottom of the reef.

Next day the four dive to the bottom of the reef and of coarse after a whole day of diving they find nothing. A few more days past and the two hired divers found out that they a part of a major deadly plot in which they can't escape otherwise they will be killed. They were hired to find two big containers. One contains a nuclear reactor and the other contains a core.

The movie also has a back story about another person (brother of the lead character) trying to patch things up with his girlfriend, I reckon this part of the story was a waste of time, this also includes a very steamy sex scene between the couple which to me is a complete waste and wasn't needed to be shown.

However apart from that, this movie does have some good underwater photography and the colors blend in well which is why it receives 4 stars. Into The Blue 2 is a sequel only by name. None of the original actors or characters return, it has a dumb plot, stupid characters and a boring climax.

Dr. No (1962)

The Original Bond!
26 November 2009
Warning: Spoilers
After a British intelligence station chief in Jamaica is killed by a group of thugs. James Bond is sent from his place at the poker table and sent to duty to figure out the murder. This takes him to Kingston, there is meets CIA agent Felix Leiter and a local fisher named Quarrel. They both tell Bond that the mastermind behind the murder is properly Doctor No.

Bond finds out that Doctor No owns a island called Crab Key who also operates a bauxite mine which are both rigorously protected against trespassers. Quarrel and Bond boat to Crab Key in early hours of the morning to have a look around and to found out more about the samples of rock that were brought back from a previous visit from the station chief that was killed.

On the island Bond meets a young woman hunting for sea shells named Honey Ryder. At first Honey thinks Bond is one of Doctor No's henchman but after a brief encounter she decides to help Bond and Quarrel around the island.

Doctor No even though the first James Bond film it was actually Ian Flemming's sixth James Bond novel. Doctor No shares many of the elements that novel had. Doctor No is very exciting to watch and is also up there with one of the best Bond films to date. It has all the right action, great Bond moments, beautiful women, wonderful pace, great story and wonderfully directed by Terence Young.

I give this entry of the Bond series a solid 8. Great Film!!

Dumb, Dull and Boring!
16 April 2009
Warning: Spoilers
Fast and Furious is the fourth movie in the series, set five year after the original and set before "Tokyo Drift". This time the original cast is back behind the wheel. Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Paul Walker and Vin Diesel. Heading back to the streets. After his girlfriend Letty is gunned down after doing a job for drug dealers (which Dom told her not to do after he wanted out), fugitive ex-con Dom Toretto reignites his feud with FBI agent Brian O'Connor. But as they are forced to confront the same enemy, Dom and Brian must give in to an uncertain new trust if they hope to outmaneuver him.

The story of this movie is just plain dumb, its dull and boring! Its not a fast and furious movie at all. Its more of the drama and crime mystery movie. There's only two major racing scenes in the movie in the 107 minute running time. The racing scenes when they do come aren't spectacular they are just dull and boring and we have seen it all before in the previous films. (Muscle car vs Japanese import). Things in this movie are just plain stupid and silly, like the ending where a Subaru Impreza WRX STI can keep up with a 900hp supercharged Dodge Charger! (Whatever). They couldn't even make it look good on film! I know that 2 Fast 2 Furious had silly and unrealistic scenes with an Evo 7 beating a SS Yenko Camaro but they still made it nail biting and look good, that's not the case in this movie. In other words this movie makes 2 Fast 2 Furious look like a masterpiece!

Its a shame that I disliked this movie the love the Fast and Furious series a lot but this one just didn't have the passion like the previous films had. See it and make your own mind up about it. But for me it was dumb, dull and boring!

Not As Good As Casino Royale
20 November 2008
Warning: Spoilers
Quantum of Solace is the 22nd Bond movie in the series. Quantum of Solace continues the high octane adventures of James Bond from Casino Royale. Picking up literally hours after the previous film left off, after being betrayed by Vesper. 007 fights to make his latest mission personal and bloody. Pretty much the same style film the Casino Royale was but not as good in story and pace. The film does have some good stunt work with very little CGI used. But its missing Bond elements like Casino Royale did, there's no "MoneyPenny", "Q", Gadgets, and there's very little Bond music used in the film, except the end credits where the play the Bond theme. The classic gun barrel scene does return but you don't see it till the end of the film before the end credits role. This latest installment for James Bond is good I recommend people go see it because its James Bond but it does share the same passion for what Casino Royale did.

Anaconda 3: Offspring (2008 TV Movie)
1/10
Crap!!!
19 November 2008
Warning: Spoilers
Anaconda 3: The Offspring is about 2 mega anacondas are undergoing testing by a bunch of few scientists (One played by Crystal Allen) but when the financier (Played by John Rhys-Davies) of the project wants more and pushes the experiments too far the anacondas escape, hungry and heading for civilization. The scientists hire a mercenary (played by David Hasselhoff) to hunt down the two beasts and kill them before they get to the local city. Then they discover that one anacondas is pregnant and about to give birth. The mercenaries and the scientists follow the anacondas into the old abandon factory where they play a deadly game cat and mouse.

Anaconda 3 is very violent and gory, most of the attacks on people are big over the top gore feasts. Too gory in fact which makes the movie more unrealistic and makes the movie a low budget slasher flick involving anacondas. The anacondas in the movie are totally unrealistic, they are cheap CGI effects which make you laugh when you see the anacondas, they are also at a unrealistic length of nearly 100 meters long. Its one of the worst films I've seen this year, don't waste your money on this movie its crap!

Warning: Spoilers
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 is set 12 years after the events of the first movie which was released in 1974. For a decade, Taxes Ranger "Lefty" Enright (Dennis Hopper) has been trying to chase down the cannibalistic Sawyer family that killed his brother Franklin 12 years ago. With no help from the local police. Lefty with the help of a local disk jockey, find the Sawyer's underground butcher shop and take matters into there own hands.

Tope Hooper returns to the helm to tell another chilling story and the evil Leatherface and his overpowering chainsaw. The main story was written by L.M. Kit Carson and it was released by the now bankrupted company Cannon films. This film was banned in some country's for 20 years for it's gore and graphic violence, but only two people get killed by the chainsaw in this movie and it's gore isn't as bad as some of the other movies I've seen. The recent "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" made in 2006 was a lot worst then this, the gore which was shown in that film made this one look like it was G rated. But I guess they had different rules back in 1986 when this film was released to the public.

The Taxes Chainsaw Massacre 2 isn't as good as the original. The bigger budget, cheap scares, length and it's comedy was the major flaws in this movie which could had been a lot better. The film does lag half way through once they enter the underground butcher shop. The ending which was also disappointing shows Leatherface having a chainsaw duel with Lefty which ends up with Leatherface coming out second best and the disk jockey doing Leatherface's famous chainsaw dance after she kills "Chop Top".

Warning: Spoilers
If your thinking that "Pineapple Express" is like "Superbad or "Knocked Up" think again!. Even thought that the movie had some funny moments it doesn't live up to Seth Rogen's previous work. The script is poor and it sometimes it looks like it was rushed. Even the directing is poor and the editing looks like it was done on a laptop.

The characters are also poor, Seth Rogan should had cast himself for a different part instead of the main role. James Franco was average but not his best and Gary Cole should be shot for accepting a role like this. You get confused very quickly and not sure who's who.

The movie has got a lot of drug use and swearing it also has some very violent scenes with lots of blood. The movie loses stars for poor script, poor acting, poor directing and poor editing. It gets 5 stars for some of the funny moments in the film. Go and see this movie for yourself and make your own mind up about it. I thought the movie was very poor and only average. It doesn't share the same passion of Superbad or Knocked Up.

Not Perfect But Still A Great Film.
23 July 2008
Warning: Spoilers
People said that "The Dark Knight" surpasses "Batman Begins". In a way it does. The action is a lot better, the story is better and darker and Batman is more cooler then ever. Christian Bale is great as Batman, even topping his performance from "Batman Begins", Michael Caine returns as Bruce Wayne's butler Alfred, Morgan Freeman, Gary Oldman, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Aaron Eckhart all played their roles perfectly and really makes the story work but the most outstanding performance role in the movie goes to Heath Ledger who played The Joker.

Having saying that however the movie did have some disappointments. First: The films running time is a bit long and the movie does lag in some parts. Second: Two-Face didn't have enough screen time he only had about 40 mins and only fights Batman once which ends up him falling off a building and falling to his death. Third: The Joker doesn't die which leaves the viewer wondering about his fate. The movie loses stars for this.

Christoper Nolan does deserve credit for this film. He wrote the story, not only was he the main director of the film, he also directed the first and second unit to make sure the film was perfect. I loved the film very very much but it just missed a few things and some things could have been better. But overall It's a great film that tops up there with "Spiderman", "Superman", "X-Men" and "Ironman".

Titanic (1953)
7/10
Good Film, well acted, directed and edited
19 June 2008
Warning: Spoilers
This was the first of many Titanic movies made before James Cameron's masterpiece. Made in 1953 and shot in black and white to keep detail clean and well paced. The movie stars Clifton Webb, Barbara Stanwyck, Robert Wagner and Brian Aherne plays Captain John Smith. The film is directed by Jean Negulesco.

The basic story is about a family trying to start a new life in North America trying to escape their rich life they had back in London. The story has lots of drama, theater, but action is kept to a low.

THE TITANIC: The Titanic in this film was a model which you clearly tell in some shots due to the water touching the sides of the model but overall it has good detail. The sets inside the Titanic however look different to the real ship. If you know the Titanic well, you know that it didn't have clothes shops etc.

SPECIAL EFFECTS: The special effects in this movie were well done for 1953, you see the iceberg slice open the ship, water busting through walls, exploding ships, icebergs falling into the water.

The only down fall is the sinking of the ship, it's very quick and all over in about 20 minutes also it shows the Titanic exploding as it's sinking. The ship sinks intact in this movie, this movie was made before they discovered the real Titanic and nobody knew for sure if the ship really did break in two when sinking. But over all this movie is well acted, directed, edited and it did terrified people back in 1953.

Not Perfect But Still Very Good.
19 April 2008
Warning: Spoilers
This 1995 television movie which is fairly based on the true story of the "Gimli Glider". July 23, 1983 a brand new Boeing 767 the actual error made in fueling was in converting the fuel volume to weight. The crew used the familiar density number in pounds per litre rather than the correct one for kilograms per litre and made a very big mistake and the Boeing took off with only a quarter of the fuel this was required and at 41,000 feet in air the plane runs out of fuel. The skill of the pilots and a flight engineer in the jump seat glide the huge jet down to ground and land it safely

This movie stars William Devane, Scott Hylands, Shelley Hack, Kevin McNulty and Winston Rekert as the main characters. Television director Jorge Montesi takes the helm of director. The overall result is a good television movie that makes you stick to your couch until the movie has finish. I remember when I first hired this movie back in 1995 and was very surprised at the overall result so convincing that give it to my family members to view. Although its not accurate its still very convincing.

The action in the cockpit scenes are great and a real set of a Boeing 767 was used for them. The only disappointment is they used a set of a Boeing 747 or a TriStar for the cabin layout. There's a bit of soap in the movie as well and its bit a sloppy but still fits into the movie. The special effects are basic CGI and its very poor but what can you expect for a low budget film. (They spent all there money on the cockpit set it looks like). The film also has strange camera angles and shots. (such as seeing the plane from the top view as it flies through the air). But overall its a good television movie that kills 90 minutes.

The Best One Since The Original
24 December 2007
Warning: Spoilers
Wow! I was surprised when I saw this movie from the first time on DVD. I wasn't expecting anything in this movie, just another big budget Hollywood film with no story line and few gun fights but this movie was a lot more then that.

Live Free or Die Hard (Die Hard 4.0 as its called in Australia) is really good and sometimes surpasses the original film in stunts and action. Even though they toned down the swearing it's still violent and the stunts blow you out of the water. Bruce Willis returns as the aging John McClane, Timothy Olyphant plays the ruthless internet con artist Thomas Gabriel, Justin Long plays the computer geek Matt Farrell and becomes McClane's sidekick in the film.

We welcome Len Wiseman to the Die Hard director list along side with John McTiernan and Renny Harlin. Len Wiseman should stick to action blockbusters more then Vampire Movies (Underworld 1 and 2) which were good films but he makes action films so much better. His directing in this film is his best to date. The special effects are great with very little CGI used, the stunts are great, the original Die Hard music themes are used, its action packed and the climax is the best since Die Hard 2 (I since reckon that Die Hard 2 had the best climax in the series) There's also an unrated version of the film out that contains more swearing and the violence is toned up in small amounts. John McClane says the F word about 30 times in this version, even saying his most famous line "Yippee Ki Yay Motherf--ker" at the end of film. But overall this film was a great way to finish off the Die Hard Series, even though that Bruce Willis is in talks to make a 5th film with Len Wiseman, but time will tell.

Highly Recommanded

Black Dog (1998)
7/10
Great Action, Great Thrills!
9 September 2007
Warning: Spoilers
Most people look at Black Dog as a over the top, blow en action flick but this film is fun and had pretty good action. The film is about Jack Crews (Patrick Swayze) an ex con that's trying to find a new life after prison life. His boss offers him a job driving a load across the country, he refuses. After a finding a legal document in his kitchen draw, his wife hid it from him. He agrees to do the job so he can save his house and life hood.

Not known to Jack, his load contains illegal weapons that his boss is selling to gangs in the country. Jack gets to the truck stop when meets the boss Red (Meatloaf). Jack chooses the truck he wants to use to pull the load. Jack finally gets on the road with a guy named Earl (Randy Travis) in the passenger seat and two another guys named Sonny and Wes following at the rear in Sonny's car.

Soon the trip gets rough and deadly, Red is working for Jack's boss and wants the load. But Jack doesn't give up and wants to put on a fight, soon its a dangerous game of cat and mouse across the country. To make matters worse the FBI and ATF are also on Jacks tale trying to stop him, to grab the illegal load.

This is a very fun movie, Kevin Hooks keeps the action non stop as Jack is trying to get the load home. The special effects are fantastic and they really destroyed a number of semi trucks for the movie. The only downfall is the ending, the ending is pretty basic and sometimes even disappoints but apart from that the movie is pretty fun and very underrated. The soundtrack is also a great one.

Breakdown (I) (1997)
7/10
This Could Happen To You!
28 July 2007
Warning: Spoilers
Most people reckon Breakdown is too over the top with its action and story but when you really think about it, this could happen to you. Breakdown was a low budget film directed by Jonathan Mostow (U-571, Teminator 3). Mostow keeps the story simple with a unexpected breakdown which turns into a living nightmare. Kurt Russell plays his role well as Jeff Taylor trying to save his wife from a ruthless gang, lead by the late J.T Walsh.

After a there car breaks down on the side of the road, Jeff and Amy Taylor find help from a passing Truckee that offers Amy a ride to the next town get help. A few hours passes and Jeff finds the problem with car and fixes it (Some lose wires under the car). When Jeff gets to the town were Amy was meant to be, she's not there and no one has seen her or the 18 wheeler that picked he up. This is were the terror starts as Jeff trys the find and save his wife.

This movie is very well paced and the last 20 minutes of the film are very thrilling. The music goes with the pace of the film. See this film as it might happen to you.

Disappointing!
28 July 2007
Warning: Spoilers
I was very disappointed about the Simpson's Movie, I'd prefer watching the TV show instead of the movie. The story is very simple and it feels like you watching a over long episode.

They should have taken the Simpson's to new limits in the movie, Like what Trey Parker and Matt Stone did with the South Park Movie. But the director and the producers just left it the same and even sometimes toned down the contact such as swearing, violence, nudity and adult themes, sometimes shown a normal episode of the Simpson's. OK you see Bart's penis and Otto smoking from a bong. But remember in a early episode you see Homer smoking pot in his bedroom to make himself better.

The Animation of the movie is different too, its got 3D back rounds with normal 2D characters in center but overall the Animation is great. Even the normal characters have changed for the movie, Homer is is a selfish pig that doesn't care for his family, Bart turns to Ned Flanders as a father figure, Lisa falls in love with a Irish boy, Marge overreacts, Ralph turns gay are just of the some that change for the movie.

I'm not totally giving this movie the flop but it should have been more then the TV show and something different but it seems the produces and director run out of idea's very quick, even the movie's running time is short only running for 85 minutes. It seems they waited too long for a movie since they show has aired for more then 16 years. They should had made this 10 years ago when they still had idea's. Still go and see this movie but don't expect anything different.

Howard Zieff directed this movie. The movie is a classic 90's movie. It has prefect camera work, the editing is perfect and it has one of the best 90's soundtracks ever made. See this movie make sure that you have a box of tissues ready because you might them towards the end of the film. Followed by My Girl 2 in 1993.

Not Perfect! But Still Good
22 March 2007
Warning: Spoilers
My Girl 2 is set 2 years after the first movie. A much older Vada is growing up and wants to know about her mother that she never met. She goes to Los Angeles to find out more about her mother for a school project. Many stars return from the first film including Dan Aykroyd, Jamie Lee Curtis, Richard Masur and Anna Chlumsky. There is also some new comers such as Christine Ebersole and Austin O'Brien who plays Vada's love interest. Its a shame that Griffin Dunne didn't return.

Howard Zieff returns to the helm to finish the story of Vada Sultenfuss. Not as perfect and edited like the first film, but its still a good film and the soundtrack is just as good as the first film. Sometimes the film does lag and is pretty boring in some parts but if you liked the first film then watch this film. It tells you the whole story about Vada's life and her mother.

Remember its not perfect but overall its not a bad film!

Halloween (1978)
10/10
Excellent Film!
5 March 2007
Warning: Spoilers
In 1978 John Carpenter and Debra Hill joined forces again to create on the best horror films to date. With a tight budget and deadlines they create a basic story that could happen to you in your neck of the woods. A silent unstoppable babysitter killer on the lose. The story is about Micheal Myers an unstoppable killer that escapes from his metal hospital up state. Being in there since he was 6 for murdering his older sister while she was having sex with her boyfriend on one cold Halloween night. Now 21 Micheal heads to back to the town to cause more trouble. He hunts down and stalks young high school students. He's chasing one particularly his baby sister Laurie Strode.

After finishing school Laurie and her friends plan to have a Halloween party after they finish babysitting kids and trick or treating. Micheal Myers (or the shape) as they call him in this one watches their every move, even stealing a car to drive past the pack walking home from school. But Micheal's doctor Sam Loomis is on his tail trying to bring Micheal down before he gets to Laurie.

He slowly walks around the town with his white faceless mask and his knife and starts killing Laurie's friend one by one. And the showdown between Laurie and Micheal is well filmed and very scary. Even though the movie has very little blood and gore, its very scary and with John Carpanter's music score makes it even scarier! Don't watch this movie alone if you haven't seen it before because it will scare you with Micheal's acts of hiding in the dark. 10 out of 10

Casino Royale (2006)
6/10
A Very Different Bond Film.
8 December 2006
Warning: Spoilers
What came I say about the new Bond film. Its a very different film altogether. The movie starts off without the famous "gun barrel" scene. Instead the movies starts in black and white, (These are flashbacks or something). The gun barrel does appear buts it in color and the main theme starts after that. Casino Royale is more like a prequel then a continue on into the series. Daniel Craig plays a darker Bond then Pierce Brosnan but I'm going to say that I sadly missed Pierce Brosnan's Bond, he played one of the best since Sean Connery.

Martin Campbell who directed "Goldeneye" which is still one of the best Bond films to date returns to the helm. The action is great and stunts are out of this world. The special effects are excellent in this film, and very little CGI is shown unlike "Die Another Day" which was full of it, which made in a little too much for a Bond film. The editing to great, the story is great and the Bond girl Eva Green is hot, sexy and perfect for the role. Judi Dench returns to the role of "M" and lets just say that you wouldn't want to miss with her in this film, she's straight down to the point and swears a lot.

But the film also has a few down flaws and looses stars because of it. The first thing is the "Gun Barrel" scene at the start it doesn't feel like a Bond film without it. Second there's very little Bond music in this film the only Bond music is at the end with the ending credits. Third its missing Bond gadgets, a Bond film must have gadgets but this film has none at all. Fourth its missing many Bond elements, There's no "Q", "Moneypenny". But the film does return Felix Leiter since he was last seen in Licence To Kill. The Overall result is a little disappointing but its a still a great film. But it doesn't feel like its a part of the series, its feels like "Never Say Never Again" Bond movie.

Driven (2001)
8/10
Harlin and Stallone Rejoin!
12 October 2006
Warning: Spoilers
After the success of "Cliffhanger" Sylvester Stallone and director Renny Harlin join forces again to make another great movie called "Driven". Released in 2001 along side "The Fast And The Furious" both movies were in the cinema at the same week and they battle together at the box office. The story about a world champion F1 driver named Beau Brandenberg faces a new threat when a new rookie driver named Jimmy Bly joins the opposite side. But with media and female distractions affecting his performance. Former hotshot driver Joe Tanto joins to support and watch Jimmy to stay on track.

Written by Sylvester Stallone in a matter of days and rewritten by another writers in the months that went on, Stallone did the final screenplay for the film. Director Renny Harlin was brought on board to direct putting his another film he was filming at the time "Mindhunters" aside to direct this film for his friend Stallone. Renny Harlin did an excellent job at directing this film and he knows how to keep the film in a fast pace and the film goes really quick.

Along from the great directing and pace, the film has got some of the best special effects and crash sequences even filmed for a film. Renny Harlin put the major crashes in slow mo just to show you how a driver reacts when he crashes. Another thing great about this movie is the great sound and sound effects. If you watch it in DTS sound with a sub woofer, make sure that you strap it down to the floor because it will move across the floor. Even though it went head to head against "The Fast And The Furious" at the box office this movie had better special effects and story line.

This movie will be enjoyed by the whole family it contains very little violence and swearing unlike "The Fast And The Furious". More people around the world today are interested more in normal performance cars instead of F1 cars. but this movie shows an illegal F1 street race in the main street in Chicago. If ripping up the road at 400kp/h is your thing then you will like his movie, I did. 8 out of 10.

Clerks (1994)
10/10
Cult Classic!
1 September 2006
Warning: Spoilers
What can I say about this movie, its rocks is two words and its excellent is another two words. The main story is about Dante Hicks (Brain O Halloran) he is the check out guy who works at the Quick Stop convenience store in Leonardo. N.J. He was supposed to have the day off and play hockey with his mates. Instead he gets called into work to cover a shift and has to deal with some pushy customers.

To make matters worse he's fighting with his girlfriend, who shocks him with revelations of her past sexual encounters and is reeling on the news that his ex-girlfriend is about to get married. But is doesn't end there before his shift is finished a customer dies in the staff toilets, gets fined for selling cigarettes to a 4 year old girl and his ex-girlfriend has sex with a dead corpse. Meanwhile next door at the video shop Dante's best friend Randal (Jeff Anderson) is busy insulting customers and making more trouble for Dante.

Although is this movie was filmed in Black and White and it was very low budget its still an excellent film but I wouldn't let children under 15 see it due to its graphic sexual dialogs between Dante and his girlfriend. But the movie also has some of the best one lines in the film all spoken by Randal and also some very funny moments like Dante and Randal playing hockey on top of the Quick Stop store roof, the old man dying on the toilet from masturbating too hard and you can't forget the Jay and Silent Bob scenes. This is Kevin Smith first feature film and it also mains on of his best. Clerks is very well written, filmed, directed and edited. Even though the movie is only 12 years old it was a cult classic even before it was made!
