Mortal Kombat: Deception (2004)
Superb
I'm a huge Mortal Kombat fan. As such after the lukewarm deadly alliance, I was slightly reluctant to purchase this game. I've never been so happy to be proved wrong.
With a diverse cast of characters: from old hats Nightwolf, Lord Raiden, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Jade and Ermac, to welcome newcomers Kenshi, Li Mei, Hotaru and big boss Onaga. Crisp graphics, tight fatalities and a VASTLY improved Konquest mode round off a great game.
The only minor gripe I have was with the final throw down with Onaga. He doesn't just beat you, he kicks you ass. He's almost ridiculously strong.
But otherwise, a must have for all MK fans.
Dragonball Evolution (2009)
A Complete waste of time and money.
Despite having a rich and fantastically written source material, Dragonball Evolution takes it, and mutates it beyond all recognition. This movie is not so much an adaptation of Dragon Ball, but more of a Saturday Night Live parody. With lines and dialogue that would embarrass Adam West, a cast list resembling a Who's Who of..... Who?! This movie is a representative of FOX's shameless ability to annihilate a franchise for a few quick bucks.
Pros: Well, its short, for one thing. Also, the fight scene where the punk totals his own car was flawless. Very Toriyama.
Cons: The script was terrible, the casting was shameful, the fight scenes were nothing short of sloppy, and the overall production was lazy and uninspired.
We were told that this is the first in a trilogy. Really FOX? Really? you need two more movies of this crap? Despite James Marsters being alive in a post credits scene, I'm not holding my breath for Dragonball 2. A reboot hopefully, but no sequel.
