The Passion of the Christ (2004)
Films are films, but expierences are expierences.
Films are films, but expierences are expierences. I wasn't watching a film last night, at least that's not what it felt like. What I was watching seemed like reality. I felt like I was actually there, seeing these events taking place. I was there in the crowd when they yelled, "Crucify Him!". I was in front of him when they flogged Him as many times as the drunken Roman guards wanted. I was crying alongside Jesus when He was nailed to that cross. And I was a witness to his ressurrection.
What I was watching was real to me, a historical event turned to current times. If it was a film, I will proclaim as the greatest and most important movie ever made.
The story starts off in the garden of Gethsemene (spell?), where Jesus is being Tempted by the devil, who is literally THE DEVIL, and I'm not joking either. Jesus, as lot of people know, was born a man, but He was the Son of God, our Savior and Messiah.
Later, he's captured and sent to the Jewish politicians where they judge His own ethics and His, what they called, blasphemous remarks. Soon there after, they take Him to the Romans where Pontious Pilate, a monster who killed alot of people, was actually believing that what Jesus was saying was true. We can see he's believing something from it. But he is a weak man, and he defiles his belief because he's scared he'll have an outcry on his hands. So, he sends him to be punished and let go.
At this time, I had felt like I was with Jesus and was waiting for them to flog me. It's hard to see this happen and you want to help Him out. But nevertheless, they flog him so much that it was impossible for the wounds to heal at all if given a chance. The voilence doesn't just seem real, but if I didn't know better, I would think it was real. I don't know how they did it, but the realism affected me, so much. This was about the time I was building up in tears, but nothing was coming out yet. Later, Pontious Pilate, after an outburst from the Jews for Jesus to get killed, sends Jesus to be crucified.
The tears ran from my eyes when they started to nail His hands to the cross. It turned out to be one of the most powerful scenes in the film.
But when He gave up His spirit I shed no tear. I felt glad; I felt joyful that it was finished and that our sins were forgiven.
The final shot of the film is a confirmation of belief in which Jesus comes out of the tomb.
I can't tell you how much this movie means to me. To say this can't change lives is foolish, because it's already doing that to me even though I'm a Christian. There's really no doubt in my mind God was speaking to Mel Gibson during production of this masterpiece because everything is so God inspired. I extremely recommend this movie for those searching for the truth. Yes, the movie takes previlagies in creativity. Many scenes where the devil shows up tells us that. Yet, this would actually seem right, the devil showing up throughout his whole crucifixion just to get Him to stop what He is doing. The earthquake after He dies is so powerful here that you are so sure it is God.
I will not see this movie again until a long time. Maybe way after it is released on DVD. Why? Because it won't have the same affect on me as it has already done. I suggest everyone to see this, because you never know what kind of feelings you will take away from this until you tried.
If it was a movie: ***** out of *****
Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones (2002)
The magic of the originals is back and better than ever!
STAR WARS: EPISODE II - ATTACK OF THE CLONES **SPOILERS**
FILM RATING: ***1/2
REVIEW: What ever happened in `The Phantom Menace' that left Star Wars fans with a sour taste in their mouth is GREATLY forgiven with this new Episode of the Star Wars prequel trilogy entitled `Attack Of The Clones'. George seems to have gotten it right this time around. The formula that surrounded the old trilogy (Episodes IV, V, and VI) as well as keeping to the feelings of what this trilogy has become with `The Phantom Menace.
The acting is what it should be and not as what it was in `The Phantom Menace'. In Episode I we seemed to have been treated with a William Shakespeare language going on, but toned down. Making the acting look kinda flat. You might find some in this movie but not as much, giving the actors plenty of room to act more natural. Which is good in my own opinion. At first Anikan seems flat, but as the story prgresses he gets better as well as his angry emotions. The way George does the story with his mother being tortured at a Tusken Raider camp is really great. And with Anikan coming at the slightest time to see his mother pass away was so dramatic and we could tell that this story telling was filling it's place more than ever. We can now see Anikan slowly being turned to Darth Vader. There are many plots that come into this film that it's hard to keep up, but I assure you, you'll start to understand what's going on.
SPOILERS:
The music fits perfectly with this movie as well as Jango Fett. He kicked some ass in this one I must say but feel victim to Mace Windu after the confrontation in the arena. We finally get to see action come with Yoda. I never thought George would pull it off but he did. What made the originals so great was R2D2 and C3PO always ending up in a funny situation. This time George let's that happen again, and it's funnier than anything that's happened to the Star Wars series. I must say, this prequel attempted the impossible and succeeded. It will be hard trying to beat this one, but with Episode III heading our way I can't help but feel that AOTC has only hit the tip of the iceberg!
Jurassic Park III (2001)
GREAT FILM!
Let me say that this is a film that you either like, or dislike. The thing is I think most people like it. There might be more negative reviews, but even some of the critics are liking it! Some people are having problems with it's story, it's acting, it's character development, even it's CGI!
STORY: What else could you have done for it. What clever idea can you do to get dinosaurs chasing and eating people. Well there isn't. So I really wouldn't dis the story line. I thought it was better, by far! Better than TLW's! ACTING: We were introduced to really good actors. Sam Neill, who is certainly my fav. actor, is excellent in this film. He makes everything around him seem very believable! William H. Macy, a great actor who is really known from his great film "Fargo", plays his character very well. Tea Leoni, she really hot in "Family Man", plays her charater well, but has an anoying scream. But, please, is that what why we say the movie is bad? Trevor Morgon, yes he's a kid, he did well and found himself not anoying like TLW's "KELLY". Not high wire gymnastic stunts! Alessandro Nivola, this guy plays in "Face Off" which I really don't remember seeing him in, does a great job! He made me care about his character. Micheal Jeter, Del in "Green Miles; always liked him, does good too. Funniest lines are from him!
CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT: Ok, everybody on here seems to have a problem with it, when there really isn't. Every scene had character development up till the moment of the spinosaur. All of them had motives, and that was good. Maybe I really didn't quite get to know NASH or COOPER well enough, but they made great snack food for SPINY!
CGI: I hoped no one had a problem with it, cause I sure didn't! None of the dinosaurs seemed fake. Unlike in TLW, REX had some fake problems with his feet! Watch it and pause and see for your self! The rex vs. spino battle was something no ther movie ever had in history. Making it look real I mean!
A problem that one of the commenters had was this: "Not only did Grant's wife know that they were at Isla Sorna, but sent all these troops to rescue them." Clearly he did not listen or watch anything that was said or seen in the movie. Ellie is not Grant's wife, and she is not his girlfriend. Her husband works for International relations, so he has connections! And Grant clearly said to her on the phone, "SITE B", which is Isla Sorna! Other problems people are talking about is the action. How can the action suck? It was has more than any other movie. Mindless action? What's mindless about it? Basically this meets the first Jurassic Park's level or surpasses it. That was one thing "Jurassic Park" had missing, was not enough action. And the series was really not meant to be a Masterpiece only a thrill ride and awing movie! Nothing more, and nothing less. And I guess TLW missed something too. It missed freshness, which is what JP3 gave. TLW was just a rehash. So I give JP3 10/10!
Jurassic Park (1993)
A masterpiece!
When I first saw this movie in 1993, it was breathtaking, even for me at 6 years old!!! Never before had they looked so real. This movie would later spawn 2 sequels, and possibly another soon. What was so great about this film was it's feel. It had a feeling that made you want to watch in awe and excitement. The dinosaurs were acting like animals, not monters. The cast was great, especially Sam Neill, who played Dr. Alan Grant (Also in Jurassic Park III, which I loved!). Grant, and Dr. Ellie Sattler are getting their digsite funded for 3 years if theu accompany John Hammond on a toure of his island. His park, which they really don't know what's about. When they find out they sit their with awe and wonder, asking themselves they they could ever do that. But it soon becomes clear (Dinosaurs in fences, living like they should and not one of them escaping) that it's too good to be true! The park shuts down. Electricity off. And in the Tyrannosaur paddock the group was stopped. Never before had a film ever been so great in the ealry 90's. It's truly one of the best classics that's ever walked the earth in 65,000,000 years! this is never going to extinct! ***1/2 out of ****
The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997)
A sequel. That's all it really is.
John Hammond, once the head of Ingen and now is a born again natralist, tells Ian Malcolm that there is another island. Site B, where they bred the animals before sending them into the park. Well, Malcolm refuses to go on Hammond's research team. But it turns out that his girlfriend is already their, and he is forced to tag along. The story was too coicidental and tried to be complex at times. But it's just a sequel. Nothing special. Good performances, some great action sequences, and good diolouge still can't erase the fact of daja vu. The Lost World: Jurassic Park is simply just a rehash and an ejoyable installment into the series. But it could have been much more! **1/2 out of ****
Killer Klowns from Outer Space (1988)
The plot is the title!
Cotton Candy coccoons, cotton candy ray guns, flying popcorn, jack in the box baby Killing Klowns, acid pies, KILLER KLOWNS. These are what you think of when you think of the movie, "Killer Klowns From Outer Space". Ultimatly a cult classic set in the 80's but with a 50's style. "The Blob" was the inspiration of this campy fun film. The Klowns are great, looks real and scary. Most of the production went towards it. The diologue and ACTING was very good. JOHN VERNON was great in this fun moive. This film is what made me get scared of clowns when I was 6. READY FOR SOME LAUGHS? BUY THIS FILM!!!
Takin' It Back to the Streets (1998)
Obviously funny...black comedy funny!!!
Well, that's what it is. Very spoofy comedy about a cop named Steven Squirts (Pete Wade)who just can't seem to get a break when he goes after the, look alike, character, Dino Spinozi (Pete Wade). This brings out everything a comedy should need. Hollywood has basically got comedy wrong. Pete Wade has got comedy right. Look for Detective Chin (Pete Wade's chin) if you decide to get this movie.
10/10

The Shining (1997)
The best there ever was in a King Film!
King did great writting the teleplay to this 4 hour long film. The beginning tells the story of a man, whose had very bad past problems and how he really strives to kepp his family together. When they get to the hotel, you know something evil is there waiting to be released. Kubrick version, while I admitt is scary, fails to meet King's appealing book. What Kubrick seem to want was something that could not be explained. So unexplainable that it chilled me. But made me confused, I didn't understand why a man would go so nutty. I loved seeing Nicholson in the first film, but he didn't fit the character. Kubric fans will always love the original version, simply because it was Kubrick in the director's chair. But Kubric making a King film want fit. All those scenes with a kid riding on his bike in the halls. Wendy and Danny wlaking in the maze and etc. could have been taking out and put some scenes form the novel. But Kubrick wanted this movie to have nothing to do with the novel and more to do with what he wanted it to be like, which is why I can see King mad! I would too if somebody made a movie that was nothing like the book. King's version had explanations why things int he Overlook and out of the Overlook happened. Such as Jack's history with his dad and the drinking problem. Unlike Kubrick's version didn't even give you an idea that anything like that in Jack's life had happened. And Danny, who could forget the 2-d child! He was so flat at the part in Kubrick's version. He couldn't even act out his few lines good. Courtland Mead's acting was fabulous, and fit the part quite perfectly. I might not have read all of Stephen King's book, but I can tell right away that this version is the best. In King's novel and movie it explained the Wolf mask that Horace Derwint had on. In Kubrick, it had Wendy run up the stairs and see a guy and another guy with a wolf mask on, which made no since to me! I almost thought that those two poeple were gay or something. Funny things like that that are never explained can make your imagination go wild and probably never find the truth. Let's not forget Rebecca's performance as Wendy in this version was far better. Duvall- I can see why Nicholson would go nutty staying in that hotel with her alone all Winter. (GIVES ME THE CREEPS)
Anyways the facts stand with me. This version gets 10 stars out of 10. Kubrick gets probably 6 stars out of 10.
Cast Away (2000)
The best movie ever!
In other words the greatest movie of all times!!! Tom Hanks helps it through. Without him this movie just wouldn't be right. This movie is a mind boggaling movie that touches your heart in places that haven't been touched before. The movie takes place a little in my state! And then goes to-- well-- a plane crash... And we all know what happens there don't we? Even though Helen Hunt wasn't in the movie that much she did make it seem like she was there the whole time. Without her I don't know how the movie would do. It's just a great combination in this movie. Laughing, crying, terrifying events at times, and the relief that he is finally home. I give it ***** stars for the system the credits go by in Hollywood and ********** for the system here in IMDB
