The Matrix Reloaded (2003)
A misunderstood masterpiece
Probably the best sequel I have ever seen.
It expands on the story of the first film, makes it more complex and left me wanting to see Revolutions. Neo is the best on screen superhero I have ever seen. When he flys it is awesome, especially when he has to save a certain lady. Morpheus is no longer the all knowing leader of Zion, in this film they expand on the character to show he is maybe a little obsessive and is just one of a number of Captains. Trinity is brilliant, Carrie Anne-Moss delievers the strongest performance in the movie. You can easily see why Neo loves her so much.
Go and watch this movie NOW!
WrestleMania VI (1990)
Warrior vs Hogan need I say more?
Ok I will say more, this goes down in wrestling history as the first super match, it was the current WWF Champion Hulk Hogan vs the WWF intercontinental champion The Ultimate Warrior, it was a unification match of sorts. What made this match so special was the fact that there was no 'bad guy' both were huge fan favourites and one of the few times when no one knew who was going to win, this made for a unique atmosphere with the crowd 50/50 on who they wanted win (I was a little warrior, not a hulkamaniac). Of course now we know that the Warrior beat Hogan, much to my delight.
Everyone thought that this would be the last time we saw Hogan hold the WWF Chamionship and that The Ultimate Warrior would go on to dominate wrestling. For one reason or another this never happened and a mere six months later Hogan was the champ again. This match will also be remembered as one of the very few times Hulk Hogan jobbed (lost) to someone.
Anyway this main event will go down as one fo the great matches of all time, maybe not for the quality but because of how important it was. I would rank it right up there with other main event Wrestlemania matches like Bret Hart vs Shawn Micheals, Steve Austin vs Shawn Micheals and the second Austin vs Rock match. I would recommend buying this video to anyone for the plain reason of the main event.
Hitman Hart: Wrestling with Shadows (1998)
Good documentary but!.....
After seeing this your first thought is that the 'hero' Bret Hart was hard done by and screwed by the evil Vince McMahon, this view is wrong. Bret Hart showed himself up to be very selfish. Here is why -
The whole program revolves around Bret Hart leaving the WWF and going to their arch rivals WCW. He is the current WWF champion but his character is becoming boring and attitudes in profesional wrestling are changing. The WWF can't afford Bret to leave as the Champion and show up on WCW TV with the WWF championship, so the WWF plan for Bret to lose the title in his native Canada against Bret's rival inside and outside the ring Shawn Micheals, but Bret refuses to lose to Micheals in his last ever match in the WWF and in his home country of Canada. Anyway Bret thinks he has got his own way he thinks he will hold onto the belt and hand it over to someone else without losing it. Basically the owner of the WWF Vince McMahon can't afford to take that chance and screws Bret out of the title during the match.
Now this is why Bret screwed Bret, he should have lost to Micheals. How can you blame Vince McMahon for what he did? Bret owes Vince McMahon a hell of alot. Vince made him a millionaire, Vince made him one of the most famous wrestlers in the world. Vince made Hitman Hart! yet when it came down to it, Bret couldn't give something back to the WWF. Bret Hart forgot about the business and thought about himself.
In the end this video wrecked Harts career, he was terrible in WCW. His rival Shawn Micheals is now established as a legendary WWF wrestler and will go down in history as perhaps the greatest in ring performer the world has ever seen while Vince McMahon used this video to launch his on screen character as the 'evil boss' and the WWF once again became the number 1 wrestling company making McMahon a billionaire. Justice was done.
Crocodile Dundee in Los Angeles (2001)
Urgh...why oh why?
Why did they have to make Crocodile Dundee 3 ? they should have just left it after the second one. This movie is lame, boring and totally unfunny. 2 films was enough the third has ruined it. Crocodile Dundee is no James Bond afterall. Bond is the only non-american hero that Hollywood can stand.
Fight Club (1999)
Brilliant.
This film is a masterpiece, Ed Norton and Brad Pitt are excellent. The Film keeps you guessing all the way through and then right at the end everything makes sense. David Fincher is probably the best young director around at the moment, his films are dark and have a brilliant atmosphere. Fight Club is probably his best, just beating out Seven.
Thirteen Days (2000)
Good film.
Excellent, but was 30 minutes to long. Bruce Greenwood is excellent as JFK and Kevin Costner is good enough in his role. I was really caught up in the film for most of it but then began to wonder when it was going to end. Could have been near perfect if a little shorter. Still highly recommended 8/10
Traffic (2000)
I never stopped looking at my watch
Why did this movie get all them good reviews? I can't believe I sat through the whole of it. The only character I cared about Benicio Del Toro's and even then he could have lived or died. Yes ok it shows what the drug world is like but that doesn't make it a good movie. Catherine Zeta Jones is terrible in this movie her accent changes every other sentence. I would give this movie 5/10 at best.
Braveheart (1995)
Good 'fiction' film
A typical Mel Gibson film.....yep you guessed it he changes history so he can make the english look like nazi's. I must say this film is good but it represents everything I hate about Hollywood and Mel Gibson. The best performance in this film comes from the guy who plays the English King.
Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991)
Excellent film but not quite as good as the original
T2 is a great film but in my view not as good as the original sure the effects are better but it loses the dark and brutal look of The Terminator.
The plot is simple John Connor has been born and is now 10 (I think) Arnie is a good guy (reprogrammed) Sarah Connor has gone mental (who wouldn't?) T-1000 is the new guy (and he is kind of hard to kill) Miles Dyson is the guy who invented Skynet (Although T3 will prove that to be wrong!)
While running from the T-1000 they decide to stop the war from ever happening. Although now this was pointless considering that T3 will be coming out in 2002 its still good to see Arnie in all his bad ass gear giving them hell and saying 'I'll be back' to John and Sarah. but hey its still a great film and the effects still look brilliant ten years later.
The Terminator (1984)
Sci-Fi at its best
The Terminator is one of the greatest science fiction films of all time. The story revolves around an innocent woman in 1984. Her life has great significance in the years to come. Two soldiers are sent from the future, one to protect her and one to terminate her. Of course she falls in love with the one sent to protect her and the one sent to destroy her? This guy just happens to be an unstoppable, unkillable machine.....its Arnie at his best, its sci-fi at its best, its my favourite film ever....can't wait till T3 in 2002
