Bats (1999)
This is virtually a remake of Nightwing 1979
I kept thinking boy does this look familiar. Nick Mancuso was the sheriff, killer bats, carnivore bats. I think this was done one time too many.
The main difference is Indian medicine man and magic versus a crazy scientist. The end result is virtually a remake.
They both are set in the desert Southwest with a sheriff that is Hispanic or not white.
Watch the original movie, it is better. Nick Mancuso was more believable as a rural Southwestern sheriff. Lou Diamond Phillips is usually good, he just seemed like his heart was not in this movie. I think that the Indian medicine man was a more interesting plot twist. The government experiment that went horribly wrong was lame.
Just my humble opinion, Edouard in Phoenix
From Dusk Till Dawn (1996)
God Bless Quentin
This movie is so over the top!!!! George Clooney is great!!
A great Vampire movie is so great. Quentin is a master of over the top. Watch any of his movies, IE: "the usual suspects"
Juliet Lewis is great as the preachers daughter.
Harvey Kietel is funny as the Preacher who lost his faith, along the way in life.
Tom Savini is so much fun in this movie. Ever since Knight Riders he has been one of my favorites. I will watch any movie with Tome Savini in the production.
The special effects are great. Savini is a master at Special Effects. He is an artist. An Actor, a director and a wonderful man. If you love Tom Savini, go get this movie, he is always a great.
This is one wild ride of a movie. Fasten your seat belt!!

Wedding Wars (2006)
Thank God for a sensible movie
It is not trying to be a comedy, it is not a drama, John Stamos is Brilliant, Eric Dane is Wonderful, and James Brolin is Hysterical. The director, writer, producer and actors all need applause.
We can never get middle America to accept Gay Marriage unless we show them that we are people too. All the Gay Pride Parades will not show middle America that Gay people are people with rights too.
I have been a Radical Fairie and a Gay Rights Activist and now as a Democratic State Committee Person and a member of my Church, I am changing more peoples minds than any number of parades. I am proud member of the United Church of Christ. I believe that we need to show people that we are their next door neighbors, co-workers, cousins, aunts, uncles, bothers and sisters.
Another Gay Movie (2006)
Laughing all the through
A friend told me to go! I don't even remember who told me to go. I am so grateful that I went. Funny, Funny, Funny! A Gay Comedy is so refreshing. I am so tired of gay sad movies.
Mambo Italiano, Eating Out, Adam & Steve, Connie & Carla, Head On, I Think I Do and Prom Queen!!
I am GAY because I am Fabulous, Funny, Bitchy, Queeny, Stylish, and Adorable!!
Go see a Gay Comedy and remember that even with AIDS we can still remember how much fun being GAY can be. No more frowns! Remember why we thought that GAY=FUN!!!
Hugs from Phoenix,
Edouard
Los jornaleros (2003)
A rare show of Hispanic gay acceptance
In Hispanic cinema, there are very rarely a positive gay image. Only Aldomovar has created pro-gay cinema. Even a straight man will do anything for Aldomovar. He will make them a star! A straight man will play a drag queen for Aldomovar. We need to support Hispanic cinema that is Gay Positive!
This was not Great writing, directing, acting, etc. I still give it a 10 because they broke new ground. It is entertaining, it also tells an important story. Can a Hispanic family ultimately accept a gay son? Can a Catholic Hispanic really love and accept a GLBT family member? Machismo is so widespread. We need more movies like this one.
Bravo for this movie, I had not heard about it, it was on LOGO! Thank God for LOGO TV Edouard B Mesert
Kinsey (2004)
The religious right want shut down this movie
Go see this movie! The religious right (not right, and not unbiased) wanted to destroy Alfred Kinsey when he was alive. Now they want to make him out to be a monster. He was a scientist, not a monster.
Why is scientific research so hated by the religious right. Any thing that doesn't fit in their narrow world view is judged as evil. Science is not good or evil, it is people who do good or evil. We need to show a famous scientist as a person trying to advance scientific knowledge. He was not a saint or a sinner, he was just a man trying to advance human knowledge.
Go see this movie, then decide whether this was a good man. Don't let anyone tell you that Alfred Kinsey was a monster. He made human mistakes, by his own admission.
Alfred Kinsey was just a man, trying do scientific research.
Great performances by all.

Hawaii (2004)
Compared to the 1966 version BETTER!
While this is network television, I was impressed with some of the acting, some of the writing, most of the scenery, and the comedy.
I watch non network TV 99 percent of the time. It was only the cast that got me interested enough to watch. Not perfect, but better than half of the USA, TNT, FOX, Sci Fi original programming. We should encourage any attempt at good programming on NBC, CBS or ABC. If I see one more Reality show announced, I think that I will barf. The CSI clones are just more of the same. The only other shows that I like are 'The West Wing' and 'Will and Grace'
Bored to Death with 99 percent of Network TV.
Thanks NBC for at least a good start. Keep working on it.
Latter Days (2003)
Opposites Attract (a love story)
Christian is a 'pretty party boy' Aaron is 'a Mormon Missionary in LA' They have every reason to hate each other. They have every reason to not even speak to each other. Christian's friends bet him that he can't get the Mormon boys underwear. A bet is a bet.
This movie has angst. It has the hypocracy of the Mormon Church. Jaqueline Bisset is wonderful as the owner of 'Lilas'. She looks wonderful. Her part is so important to the story. Yeah Jaqueline!
Aaron is perfect, squeeky clean, blond, muscular, innocent, sexy! Christian is a perfect muscle boytoy. The acting is great. Go see this movie, buy it on DVD!
More Tales of the City (1998)
Fabulous! We want more!!!
Armistad Maupin's Tales of the City and More Tales of the City are landmarks in Gay liturature. They are not for Homophobes, they are not for bigots, they are for the friends of the GLBT Community. If you don't like Gay people, don't watch these movies. Don't watch Queer as Folk, and don't watch Queer Eye for the Straight Guy.
I don't watch Mormon stories. I don't watch Southern Baptist stories. I will not tell anyone to watch something that offends them. Watch what you feel comfortable with. This is big wide wonderful world full of lots of different people.
We're fabulous! We're here we're Queer
The Passion of the Christ (2004)
Violence! Gore! Horror Movie Fans love it!
Don't take your children or your Jewish friends to see this travesty of the New Testament. Mel Gibson has released a movie for fanatics and Horror film lovers. All of my Jewish friends are insulted. A friend took his 10 year old son, now the kid has nightmares and can't sleep well.
What a travesty of the New Testament!
Jesus taught love your brother. He never hated a race, or a people. Only the fanatics want us to hate the Jews, the Fags, the Muslims, the Blacks, and the Asians. This movie teaches hatred.
Shame on you Mr Mel Gibson, I guess your father is not the only one that is crazy. He has publicly said the "Holocaust" didn't happen. What a crazy father, maybe the son is like the father.
Eating Out (2004)
The funniest gay movie in years
This was just at OUTFAR in Phoenix. The audience loved it, the jokes are great. The actors are great. This movie got a standing ovation when it ended. The director and the cast all attended. If this is at a Gay & Lesbian Film Festival run to the theater. I can hardly wait for the DVD.
This movie is amazing.

The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003)
The King has returned!
This is a masterpiece, Gondor will prosper for a thousand years. The old world is passing away, the age of man is beginning.
Peter Jackson is a genius!
Sean Astin deserves an Oscar. Ian McKellan deserves an Oscar. Viggo Mortenson deserves an Oscar. The Return of the King is the Best Drama of the Year!
It has been a very long wait, everyone said that LOTR was not filmable. Well Peter Jackson has done the impossible.
Summer of '42 (1971)
Jennifer O'Neil is beautifully magnificent!
This is a great story of a young widow, and a young man. Glorious!
Think of Romeo and Juliet and think of an older woman. Haunting! The cinamatography is mesmerising, the music is fabulous, the innocence is pure. When were you that innocent? That awesomely beautiful? Come to the Summer of '42'.
Riverworld (2003)
A Tribute to Kevin Smith
Thank You SciFi for telling us what we already knew! This is the very last thing (released) that the legendary Kiwi Kevin Smith ever made before his untimely death in China. Kevin Smith (not that American
movie director) was that brightest star of the Southern Hemisphere. He was going to star in an action movie with Bruce Willis when he died
tragically in China.
Thank You SciFi for dedicating this movie to "Kevin Smith"
Children of Dune (2003)
SciFi has created a masterpiece. Dune forever!
The first installment was better than the movie, alot better. It was not perfect, but it was a good effort. SciFi has hit their stride, I will continue to watch the original programming of the SciFi channel.
Brian Herbert must be very proud to see his father's words on SciFi.
The Clandestine Marriage (1998)
wild silliness!
This is a little silly movie, nothing major, just fun. Paul Nicholls secretly marries his sweetheart. Her family has no idea. That is the beginning of a wild romp of who will marry whom?
Try it you might like it.
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002)
One Ring to Rule them. The cycle continues
This was the longest year, to have to wait for the next installment. This is the most intense, amazing sequel (not a sequel) The wait was worth it, now we will triumph in 2004. Movie history is being made. Peter Jackson is a genius. Now let all the gainsayers slink away with their tails between their legs. AMAZING, Run don't walk to see this one.
Marco Polo (1982)
A lavish spectacle
This is one of the most beautiful mini-series ever filmed. The script was good, the casting was beautiful, the music was wonderful. When TV is good, it is very, very good! This is a jewel, savor it, play it again, and marvel at the wondrous world of Marco Polo.
Shogun (1980)
The first GREAT Mini
This is the one, that showed everyone else how to really tell a book in a mini-series. No body had every really got it right before. Very few have gotten it right since. This is for people that love books, told on film. Not a butchered hatchet job.
A Classic.
Taken (2002)
The best mini in a long time
Steven Spielberg can do anything. Now he gave us an epic of SciFi. Sci Fi Channel just keeps getting better, go SciFi. I can hardly wait for this to get onto DVD, amazing. Watch it, watch it again. Write to Sci Fi, we want more.
The Bourne Identity (2002)
This movie doesn't even have Carlos in it
I thought the directing, acting, and camera work are OK, but did they read the book? Carlos the Assassin is not even in the movie. Marie is not Dr. Marie St. Jacques.
The screenwriter gets an F for not reading this wonderful book.
If you liked the movie, read the book! If you hated the movie, read the book! If you loved the movie, read the book! If you were bored, go see another movie.
Band of Brothers (2001)
Bravo for HBO
Once again HBO has shown that they make most of the great programming on Television. It is no small wonder that every year they get so many Emmy awards. It is too bad that HBO isn't free to everyone. ABC, CBS, & NBC should really pay attention to what excellence means.
Dawson's Creek (1998)
Some of the best writing and acting on Network TV
This is just one of the reasons that the Big 3 are not what they once were. WB, Fox, USA and TNT are all creating better programming most of the time, with a lot less money. We need more intelligent programming like "Dawson's Creek" not more junk.
Gladiator (2000)
Dreamworks strikes again
Go see this movie, Dreamworks has another great piece of entertainment for us all. Russell Crowe and Joaquim Phoenix are great. This movie has enough fact, to make it believable, and enough pathos and drama to entertain.
Go see this one!
