Vampire.... That's it...
4 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
So, nobody on this island knows about vampire story, Dracula? There is nothing religious there... It's just blood. Long monologue, borderline boring. They never saw Twilight? LOL...

"The Call" with Halle Berry was much better, more entertaining.

Good sci-fi with low production value
6 March 2018
The story line is good, the acting is somewhat good but I keep count of the amount of time I saw the decors move. Painfully obvious that the walls are made of cardboard, you can see the church wall moving when they install the lights, that turbine was shaking like hell when they were cleaning it... It makes everything look fake.

The Conjuring (2013)

Good but filmmaker did not know how to end it...
29 July 2013
This movie is a mix between Amityville and The Exorcist. First it's about the house, then it's about and evil entity and it ends with possession.

I really liked this movie, it was interesting, it was stressful (not in any horrific way), the plot seem to be good, until the end... The ending was like a slap in my face, downright too easy.

Maybe it took them too long to get to the end and they had to rush it because of time limits, I don't know but the possession part ends all to quick and they live happily ever after...

And what's the link between the doll and what's happening with the Perron family?

And with everything happening in the movie, I don't see Lorraine suffering much from anything...

Don't go, unless you need to sleep in a theater...
18 December 2010
This movie is incredibly boring. With a strong cast, all underused and nothing is remotely funny. I was on the verge of falling asleep during most part of the movie. The dialog is not engaging, nothing is.

It's quite sad to see all those good actors having nothing to do on screen. The chemistry between the actors was not believable, Jack had nothing much to do. I've seen Resse in much better movies, she is not a Legally Blonde here.

I wonder if it's even a love story, or even romantic, because it does not look like that. It's constant wining, not happiness, nothing.

Don't go... A waste of money.

Burlesque (I) (2010)

Burlesque : Very good for that kind of movie
28 November 2010
So, it's a movie about a lounge with signers and dancers. It's not a musical, but you expect to see dancing, sexy and songs. Burlesque delivers on all account, it's sexy without being naked, it's fun, the music is great.

I don't know why so many reviewers here say that Christina Aguilera is a bad actress, she gave quite a decent performance considering that, well, she is not an actress. And while Cher is not on the screen all the time, she is fantastic. For a woman in her sixties, wow...

The movie made me buy the soundtrack, Christina know how to sing and she is very good.

As for the background stories (lounge on the verge of closing, love interest), they are there to give the movie some meaning but are not overly invading on the main content witch is signing and dancing. Those background stories are were the movie lost my 2 points, because you don't quite feel the urgency, stress of Tess money problems, everything runs like there is no problem at all.

All in all, it's a good, entertaining movie. It's gonna be in my blu-ray collection, just for the music and dancing alone.

The worst I've seen in a theatre
4 September 2010
Warning: Spoilers
I was not expecting a horror movie, I was not expecting gore or huge scare. I was expecting some kind of story with a form of meaning. What I got was the worst waste of time in years of movie going.

First, we never see Nell like she is on the poster for the movie. No, the highest we find her is on the top of a big dresser during one of the only rambling action we don't get to see in her bedroom.

Nothing is scary, even lame seat jumper scare are avoided. The movie in painfully slow to start, and then you're just waiting for some action to begin and well, you're almost at the end when you start to think that nothing is ever going to happen. Until the U-Turn when they go back to the house and follow some screaming. Now for 30 seconds, you don't really know what's happening, but you do know that they are getting killed (it's a spoiler, I'm not saying who is getting killed). Just remember that this movie is based on "found tapes". And that's it, you're watching the generic scrolling by...

This movie made Paranormal Activity and Blair Witch Project look like masterpiece. Positive feedback here must be from the studio...

Avoid at all cost, even on DVD.

It's good, but it's not Evil Dead good.
30 May 2009
First, let me start by saying that I'm a huge fan of Evil Dead, I must have watch this movie, too many times. I know the genre, horror/comedy with gore and cheese. Now, Drag Me To Hell is using the same formula, but in a real PG-13 movie, meaning that it's toned down a little.

I did not find the movie to be too loud, like others have said here. The sounds used is supposed to be loud because it's the "horrific" factor, it's supposed to scare you. You have gore and goo, but not as much as you would think, not at the level of Evil Dead. Judging by the people in the theater I was, their was 3-4 good laugh moment during the movie and NO, you don't jump on your seat every 30 seconds unless you're THAT easy to scare.

The killer for this movie is the ending. If you have $.02 cent of a brain, you'll know 10 minutes before the end what's going to happen. Yeah, wrong envelope. And even if those last 10 minutes are quite fun to watch, you can't keep from being bummed to know that all those efforts are in vain.

I was expecting more of this movie and well, sometime it did Drag a little, and it's going to be rated 6/10. It's good, but could have been much better. I'm going to hope for a better Evil Dead 4.

Quarantine (2008)
9/10
Excellent
12 October 2008
To all the people with negative comments, what where you expecting? Quarantine is an excellent movie, stressful with many jump scene. For the better part of the action, you only see through the shaky camera lens and worst at the end (only night vision). The shaky cam did annoy me at some point because I felt sick! But it adds to the realism of the movie.

Jennifer Carpenter is quite good, liked her in the Exorcist of Emily Rose, enjoy her as the sister of Dexter. She plays her part as the strong girl caught in a very bad situation.

Worth much more than the actual 5.7/10 rating of IMDb....

The Return (2005)
9/10
It's good for what it is, a thriller.
11 November 2006
It's a very good "ghost" story. Even if the preview led many people to believe it would be a horror movie, it's not. Maybe a couple of jumping moments but that's all.

As always, SMG is very good in this movie. It's a puzzle and she must find all the piece to make a complete picture of what's happening. Joanna is having hallucinations since she's young, acting out on some of them. But soon everything will be connected together with the town she's visiting to make a sell.

The plot is not really hard to follow, no big mysterious twist or any fantastic ending.

I loved this movie, much better than "The Grudge 2" and can understand why SMG preferred to perform in The Return.

Saw III (2006)

What a rush!
28 October 2006
Warning: Spoilers
After the huge deception of watching "The Grudge 2", this was refreshing and gave me hope for sequels. You need to see SAW 1,2 before seeing 3, well, it would help allot.

I don't understand why so many here comment on the fact that their is little plot in this movie. Jigsaw in this movie is testing 2 peoples, to see if they can "change", forgive... The main plot is about Jeff and his quest to find the guy who killed his son and the sub-plot, about Amanda. I won't say more than this. Only one is alive at the end...

The traps are ingenious, the gore is more present in this movie than the others. SAW 3 kept me at the edge of my seat and tested my stomach on many occasion. It's a sick movie with many twist and it open the door for a SAW 4, but I'm not sure if they should do it, since it would have to be a complete new story (copycat).... Only one is left alive...

The Grudge 2 (2006)

What was that crap?
14 October 2006
Warning: Spoilers
Okay, first the good thing : If you saw the trailer then you know about 100% of the "scary/jumpy" moment of the movie. And yes, it's a good thing because you should just stick to the trailer and not go see the movie.

I now understand why Sarah Michelle Gellar did not stay alive in that movie for very long, she did not want to associate her name with this production. I wish her the best for "The Return".

You have to follow 3 different story in this movie, and they are all disconnected (in time and meaning) until the very end. And even then it's a very bad climax. And god forbid even open the door to another sequel.

Yes, in this movie, "The Rage and Fury" is on the move. No need to visit the house anymore, just be close to someone who when inside and you're done. It's not a curse anymore it's kinda like a virus. Go inside the house, get scared, return back to USA and spread the joy in your apartment building.

It's not that difficult to follow, but you just don't really care about anyone. The plot line is slim to none and you have many scene in this movie where you just laugh and shake your head... Milk anyone?? I saw Ju-On 2 at the Fantasia movie festival last summer, different story completely but much better than this dud. It's not a remake, but this time, maybe they should have simply done a remake....

If you must see it, wait for the DVD.

It was fun, but the last 10 minutes....
6 July 2005
Warning: Spoilers
Okay, so this movie runs for 1h59, Tom Cruise and the gang runs for about 1h45 of the movie. Very good special effects.

But the end goes like this : Tom Cruise to Steven : Hey man, i'm tired of running and this little girl is always screaming... finish this thing. Steven : Oh my, already 1h45 recorded! Okay so as of NOW they will start to die/faild, lets just show one faild on a building, shoot another, see that it's dead and reunite the family.

What i'm saying is that they could have run from the enemy a little bit less and show a bit more what's happening with the machines and why they failed.

All in all, it's not a bad movie, but the ending is rushed and ruins the hole thing.

Please replace Alexander Witt for RE3...
11 September 2004
The story of this movie was good overall. That said, Alexander Witt is NOT a very good movie director, and this is the fall down for this film.

Action sequence are filmed in a choppy slow-motion way with angle change every 2 seconds and close-up that are extremely annoying. You get the impression of watching «Blair Witch»...

Music-wise, this movie miss Marylin Mason big time. The sound effect and the music in the first RE was real good and tied everything together. Here, in RE2, it's a trown together kind of sound track.... Does not fit with the movie and does not follow the first one.

BUT... The actors are doing a great job. Super Alice is still the best but I can see Jill taking more space in RE3 (if it's done!). Nemesis was a real let down, mind controled by Umbrella, he is nothing more than a killing puppet. I fear the same thing will happen to Alice in RE3.

All in all, a nice movie. Not better than the first one. PLEASE bring back Paul WS Anderson as a director for RE3, or anybody with more talent than Mr. Witt. (6/10)
