Death Proof (2007)
The greatest main stream feet fetish movie.
I overheard the following conversation in a Hollywood party.
KR: You're looking at my wife's feet, aren't you? QT: No, I'm not.
KR: It's OK. I understand. I like her feet too.
QT: I wish I could lick that pretty toes. You're lucky.
KR: I can help you with that.
QT: Really? What's the catch? KR: I want Rosario Dawson's feet.
QT: Why don't you just ask her? I think she'll let you do wherever.
KR: You see. I'm a moral man. I can't do that to my wife.
QT: Don't tell me that you wanna do it on the big screen? KR: You're a smart man. That's exactly what I want to do.
QT: What do I get out of this? KR: I can give you some pictures of my wife's feet.
QT: I've got them in my collection. I want lick her feet and suck on her toes.
KR: No way she'll agree to that.
Vanessa Ferlito walked by.
Both man looked at each other with grin.
QT: I can get her do a lap dance for you. Can I suck your wife? KR: Deal. How can you get them do those? QT: I have a movie which just bombed in the theater. I can easily hone it for our purpose.
KR: Good, I'll do whatever in the movie, even turn into a pussy.
QT: Be careful what you wish for :) Here you have the confidential of the greatest main stream feet fetish movie.
The Constant Gardener (2005)
An old uninteresting story with a new scene.
To put "constant Gardener" as an nominee is a new low for Oscar. It's a cross offspring of "the insider" and "the English patient". It's a marriage of convenience, and produces dead offspring.
Tessa was annoying in the movie. I can't say that I was happy she's gone. But I didn't miss her a bit. The constant gardener's undying love (or dying love in the movie) was unrealistic and fake at best.
Recently a few movie about African issues make sick. If AIS spreads in Africa, blame the big pharm not giving them free drugs. If genocide happens, blame the arm dealers who sold weapons to the warlords. If corruption in high official, blame the rich countries who give them free aids.
Red Eye (2005)
A OK B movie.
I have nothing more to add to the comments. The OK actors, bad script, and worse directing have been covered by the reviewers here.
The plot holes in the movie.
1. Why did they have to launch a missile from sea? 2. Why threaten Lisa on a air plane? Break into her hotel room, pretend to be cab driver are much safer.
3. Why didn't Lisa notify the authority right away? The empty thread from the bad guys are laughable: if you don't do what I tell you, I'll call my guy to kill your father.
The only redeeming thing about the movie was Lisa's lovely legs. In the wash room there were a few extra minutes of close up of Lisa's legs. It made you to think that Lisa was about to kick the bad guy. She didn't. I'm not complaining. Her legs were lovely in a heels.
If there had been more of Lisa's legs in the movie, I might have rate it around 7.
The Terminal (2004)
I haven't seen a movie that I laughed so hard for long time.
One of the best movies that I have seen in recent years.
I used to think Tom Honks to be a good actor. After this movie, I upgrade him to be one of the greatest actor in my book.
I think this movie is a continuation of the "cast away". The theme of that movie was "fate will bring unite a couple who are meant to be together". This movie is "destiny will separate perfect couple". I'm hoping Steven make another movie in the same theme, and make it a trilogy.
In both movies, the main character was put into a strange place. He was force to learn new skills as an adult to support himself. After satisfying physical needs, he searched for love. I can't wait to see the next movie in this series.
I can't believe this movie get lower rating than the fake "hero". To boost its rating, I gave it a 10. In fairness, I'd have given it a 9.5.
Rear Window (1954)
Don't understand the hype about this.
It might be an old classic. It should remain that way, a classic nobody should watch. It was as exciting as watching James Stewart murmur some intangibles. This movie is overrated.
Cast Away (2000)
A good love story
I was shocked again by those stupid moviegoers.
Cast Away is a love story. It just echoes a century old theme: is there a one love made for you in the world and will you find your other half in your life time.
The Chinese fables have an interesting character: old moon man. Every new baby is born, the old moon man ties an invisible thread at his toe, and he ties the other end at the toe of his true love. Eventually, the invisible thread will bring them two together. They'll live happily after forever.
The parcel was the invisible thread in the movie. Tom survived plan crash, isolation in an island for 4 years, drifting in a pile of woods in the deep ocean. His motivation might appear to come from the picture of his wife. But the real force at work is the power of invisible thread: the parcel with logo of wings.
It's a love story like the `Sleepless in Seattle' from a different angle.
Under Suspicion (2000)
An interesting good movie, at least it's different.
I can't believe so many viewers get the movie wrong. The two obvious facts the director attempted to convey to supposedly intelligent moviegoers who unfortunately had been doped by the typical main stream Hollywood plot. Contains SPOILERS First, Hackman confessed to the two murders, in which he's innocent, because he had nothing to live for.
Let's face it. Hackmans a pedophile. He's a `bad' guy in the movie. But he truly loved his wife; at least he thought so. She's his last salvation. Hackman couldn't help himself to attracted to young girls. He knew it's wrong. So he married Chantal to cure his disease.
He put all his affection on her. Even she refused to sleep with him for two years. He still convinced that she loved him. When Chantal helped police to find evidence to put Hackman in harm's way, Hackman broke down. She backstabbed him.
He couldn't love his wife anymore. He lost hope of recovery from pedophile. He knew he'd spend rest of his life to pang under-aged prostitutes and to seduce poor young girls. In a moment of self-righteousness, he committed suicide-confess to the murders he felt he would commit in the future.
Second, Freeman is a `dirty' cop. He tried to get even with Hackman. He believed that he's as smart as Hackman and more normal. Hackman married with a young beautiful wife in a huge mansion. Freeman himself lived in a shabby apartment. His old ugly wife left him for better opportunity.
Freeman's smart. He knew that Hackman wouldn't have phoned the police had he been the real killer. Nevertheless, it's a good chance to snoop into Hackman's life to discovery his dirty laundry. He hoped that he could do Hackman a favor to gain an upper hand on Hackman, to change the balance in their relationship.
Freeman portrayed the role adequately. However his effort was lost due to his stereotype. People failed to see he's dirty motive to go after his life long friend. When he looked at Hackman and Chantal, the two people he'd just killed, from the police department balcony, you could tell the pain inside him. Then again, it's lost because of his subtle performance. People nowadays like cartoon characters better.
The choice of an exotic island and carnival atmosphere were intended to contrast the loneliness of those three main characters. Of course our smart viewers do not pick it up.
Hackman called the young detective O.b., a woman health paper product. Because Hackman was a rich arrogant b*****d.
Hackman was brilliant in the movie. Freeman couldn't pull off the dirty detective role because of his good reputation. Chantal was a spoiled brat, and supposedly to be hated and pitied. Monica did a better job than Freeman at least.
Scenes from the Class Struggle in Beverly Hills (1989)
Mary Moronov.
A long time ago, I watched this movie from the middle on cable. I then had a crush on Mary Moronov. I saw her again in Eating Raoul. I was convinced that she's the hottest woman on screen.
I maybe biased about this movie. 9 out of 10.
This's the only movie I own on original tape.
Die bitteren Tränen der Petra von Kant (1972)
Pretentious trash.
Some abstract painters who don't have the patience and dedication to learn how to paint correctly and resort to modern painting. And try to prove it's a better way to express themselves.
The performance and directing have nothing to be desired. I can't relate to Petra, who whines and moans for no particular reason.
It leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.
The Score (2001)
A simple short well done movie.
Two con artists formed a perfect partner to still a priceless treasure from the maximum security Custom House in Montreal.
The plot was simple, straightforward. The acting from Robert De Niro and Marlon Brando were solid and expected. Ed Norton's portal of Jack/Brian was brilliant as always. He's been my favorite actor since American History X. Angela was wasted in the movie though I don't know if she's got any.
I only give a score of 6.5 because its lack of story. And I expect more from assembly of those talented actors.
Stella Dallas (1937)
One of the finest actresses made a wonderful film.
I happened to watch this old black and white movie by chance. Slow pace, simple plot, predictable and overly melodrama, I absolutely loved this film. I don't know if it's a classic. But it made me wish more of movies like this could be made nowadays. Barbara Stanwyck was simply the best actress in my humble opinion. It was basically one man's show. Barbara portrayed and sacrificed herself for her daughter to have a dream life, which herself could have but would not have.
2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)
One of the over-rated movies.
It's a boring movie. The SFX stunk in today's standard. I guess no one would say it's stunning if it's made today. The plot was, what plot? It's confusing. One body couldn't possibly explain it without reading the book. The idea that machine, what idea? All its idea came from the book. Why did viewers contribute it to the director? The only thing that kept me not throw the tape into garbage can was the tape was rented.
Let's face it, most viewers have faint idea about what the movie is trying to convey because they've read the book. This movie can't stand alone without the book. The director miserably failed to communicate with audiences.
Some reviewer here were awed by its technical correctness. Please, if you got the budget, you sure can hire a bunch of physicists from NASA as advisors. Why is the credit of the director?
Don't waste your time watching the movie, read the book instead. Can any one here argue why I should watch the movie?

The Truman Show (1998)
a good film.
Some people have boring life, so they watch other people's exciting life on TV. Some people are not able to enjoy life, so they watch other people's good life on TV. Most people are just too lazy to have a life, so they watch other people's life on TV. Part of the movie is a mockery of TV viewers.
The Truman Show is a delightful movie dealing with a serious subject, i.e. the big three: Where are we from, Why are we here, and Where are we going (after death). The movie didn't ask those questions. Nor did it answer them. The theme seems to be that the truth is out there, and we'll be free if we find out the truth. The end of the movie hinted that love is the answer.
I wish it's simple as that.
Jim Carrey was a good fit for the role. I couldn't think any one else would do better for this movie.
