Deep Water (2022)
A decent thriller
It is getting some harsh reviews on here. I sometimes think that the ability for ua to watch more from home these days has led to people being very critical. It is a decent thriller and worth a watch.
Jack and Jill (2011)
Hilarious
How do people not think this is funny? Are they expecting a serious movie about the relationship between twins? A lot of hilarious scenes, especially those with Al Pacino. I have not met anyone who has said that this movie is rubbish, so not sure where all these low ratings come from.
The Holden Girls: Mandy & Myrtle (2021)
Actually quite funny
Seems to be getting a lot of bad reviews but does not deserve them as it is quite funny. Leigh Francis returning to something like his Bo Selecta characters. Definitely worth a watch.
Warrior (2011)
Brilliant movie
Every person I recommend this to thinks it is such a good movie. Leaves you full of emotions by the end. Deffo the best movie of 20111. Deserved a lot more Oscar noms than it got. On top of Nick Noote, Joel Edgerton and Tom Hardy were brilliant in it. Career bests for them both.
Saving Private Ryan (1998)
Quite simply the best film I have ever seen.
Quite simply the best film I have ever seen. I have never been that interested in War movies before, with the exception of most Vietnam movies but this really has changed my prospective on them. I will look at most War movies made and compare them to this, though I doubt they will ever come close. The battle scenes in this movie were unbelievable. They were so realistic. It made you feel like you were experiencing some of what these soldiers had to go through, especially the opening scene. I have an uncle who has been interested in World War II for as long as I can remember. He was so fascinated by this war that he had tousands of pounds worth of memorabilia of it including medals, guns, knives and uniforms. He is also a great critic of movies, rarely saying that any movie was good, so I was pleasantly surprised to hear him say that he thought that this was the best war movie ever made and that it contained scenes that could never be topped. It was brilliantly acted bringing what should be at least two Oscar nominations for acting roles. Elsewhere I am hoping it will clean up at the Oscars, deserving them more than a lot of recent Oscar winning films have done. It will take some doing to better this film. I only wonder what Terrence Malick's "The Thin Red Line" is going to compare.
