Unbreakable (2000)
Unique idea for a plot but movie moves very slowly
27 November 2000
If you have seen the movie The Sixth Sense you have a very good idea about the quality of the camera work associated with this movie, it is first rate. The plot is thought out as well although there is a significant stretch of the imagination required. The movie is well edited. The main criticism that this movie will receive is that it moves along at snails pace until the end of the movie. As has become Shyamalan's trademark, the movie has a surprise ending. I recommend you see the movie and judge for yourself.

An excellent film that holds up well over time.

In many ways this film seems more relevant today that when it was made in 1962. One of Sinatra's finest performances is combined with a complex but firmly believable plot and a number of twists and turns to keep things interesting.

An interesting documentary on the similarities between two dissimilar persons.
11 August 2000
This documentary provides an interesting insight into the lives of two very different young women. One (Yuliet) gives us a glimpse of the harsh reality of the life of a young prostitute growing up in Havana Cuba. The other (Fabiola) is an aspiring model on location while shooting a video. While very different, the two share many similarities in that both are young, beautiful, and have had difficult (at best) relationships with their fathers and men in general. These difficulties combined with the dysfunctional nature of their family lives (particularly Yuliet) results in a documentary that delves into the neurosis, depression , and isolation that results from these problems. The movie makes a case for the statement: All men are self-centered, selfish, uncaring jackasses.

Fight Club gives Movie Making a Black Eye
19 July 2000
If the boring one hour narrative introduction by Edward Norton doesn't put you to sleep, the next two hours of Brad Pitts horrible overacting, gross absurd scenes, and a completely pathetic plot will make you want to puke. Of the thousands of films I have seen in my life, only two have been so bad that I could not sit through the entire film. Fight Club is one of those two movies.
