Cool looking, but ultimately empty
Blind Spot is well animated. The action sequences are very slick. Yet there is no story. The entire short feels like someone said, 'let's make a kick-ass chase scene' and left the script at that. So while it's not boring to watch, and the craftsmanship is top-notch, it'd hard not to feel 'what's the point?'

I was expecting a twist
raulrosmon21 April 2019
I was excpecting a twist in the "story"...if theres "one"...like for example, the Cyborgs being the "bad guys" and that train...full of humans fighting a war to recover the planet against cyborgs created by the humans after generations of A.I out of control. Or something like that. Like in the episode "Suits" where the humans were the invaders of the alien planet.

Love, Death, and Robots

Blind Spot (2.5 out of 5 stars).

A team of cyborgs try to stop a convoy that is armored with a power robot.

The animation was not impressive or anything different. The action is boring. The story left you feeling empty about what was going. It was forgettable.

A Saturday morning cartoon for grown-ups.
Pjtaylor-96-1380444 January 2020
'Blind Spot (2019)' is a good, old-fashioned action-adventure heist. It feels like a Saturday morning cartoon, with only its bad language and slightly brutal violence marking it as something else. It's an entertaining piece that keeps its foot on the gas from the word go. Its action is exciting and its characters have an enjoyable, if generic, banter-based dynamic. It has a good sense of pacing and escalation, ending with a traditional yet satisfying moment of calm. It's fun, if not deep, and is visually spectacular, to boot. 7/10

Not the philosophical writing masterpieces other episodes in the series are, but that's not a bad thing.
Noro_The_Arbiter20 April 2020
Sometimes you need a break from the more serious, poetic, and philosophical episodes in a series, and instead want to have some dumb fun with a filler episode (Which despite the bad rep, isn't a bad thing). This episode is exactly that. No deeper meaning, no moral, just dumb, awesome, action-y fun. This entire episode is one big chase scene, and they just roll with that.

The ending could have been better
perlshop20 May 2019
The animation was superb and overall it was fun!

Without giving anything away I wish the ending was something different and this could be a 10/10 episode.

Field Of Vision

I've decided to review each of the short films that make up this series individually.

Maybe this one suffered a bit because it came after "Zima Blue" but "Blind Spot" felt like a regression in a lot of ways. The story is about a small gang of robot thieves, whose attempts to take down a convoy containing a valuable microchip, struggle when they underestimate the defence mechanism.

Graphically, this edition is a little more "Saturday morning cartoon" than some of the other ones in the series, not that this is necessarily a bad thing. Plot wise though- it's pretty basic stuff. In fact, were it not for a bit of swearing and sex references this would have been the most child appropriate episode in the series. It's not awful, just not particularly memorable or interesting - and the ending completely undermines what's gone before.

Silly action packed episode. Nothing extraordinary but still fun.

Good: action sequences, animations, fun.

Meh: story, characters.

Despite the story, animations and music were really good. But the story an even ending hit the episode most. Maybe a twist perhaps?

EXCELLENT

Ever watch a Gorillaz music video? Both the animation and the sci-fi theme of this episode heavily reminded me of something they'd do.

This wasn't created for the annoyingly pretentious audience member. STOP saying "what's the message?" Why does this have to have a message? You're watching a sci-fi show about robots and monsters. Enjoy the action packed ride. The characters were likable and it concluded well.

Warning: Spoilers
It was another meh one. The animation was alright and the music was great but that's about it. The story was just a bog standard heist that was filled with clichés, plastic characters and boring dialogue. The action was boring and we got no real reason to care about literally anything. It's just a short yeah but it was pretty forgettable at the end of the day

Not really sure to make of this one.

There are some undeniable speed racer Saturday morning cartoon vibes here, and I'm not against that. I imagine this short could easily be serialized, though that wouldn't be my cup of tea.

Ultimately there was nothing at all wrong with this one, but I didn't really find myself gripped by it or anything. Decent, but forgettable.

Sidetracked by cartoons...story of my life.
hamstersinwigs15 July 2019
The kid in me who watched Power Rangers and Thundercats in the 90's was pretty happy with this episode.

Plus bonus Brian Blume.

It was *not* the intellectual peak of the series, but it was fun. Solid 6.

Don't take it too seriously guys
bulutsakchak29 May 2019
Although not as creative or cerebral like the other LDR episodes, it was still a lot of fun to watch this episode. Animation and action sequences are top notch, I loved the character design. The theme reminds me of 'Biker Mice from Mars', one of my childhood favorites!

Not every story needs to have a groundbreaking message or sociopolitical analysis, this episode is supposed to be an action-packed saturday-morning cartoon for adults and it does its job damn well. So much so that I would definitely watch a series based on this cute cyborg team.

And it does have a twist at the end for bonus points.

Infantile and unengaging
RogerBorg30 May 2022
I watched this with a slowly unfolding sense that I was watching an episode of a 1980s kiddie cartoon designed to sell action figures, and that there would nothing else to it.

Well, sadly, that turned out to be exactly the case. It's simply a series of explosions punctuated by leaping and yelling and cursing. The "twist", such as it is, is the non-consequence-free nature of the violence. But wait! There's another "twist". Groan.

But since we're given no reason to care about any of the pencil-sketch cliched characters involved, it's hard to see why we'd care about their safety.

So what does that give us? Pure unadulterated childishness. Even the short runtime doesn't justify the investment in this dross.

Like a saturday morning cartoon for grown ups
louisgreenland17 July 2019
Blindspot is a fun experience that reminds you of those satuday morning cartoons you used to watch as a kid, this time with more guns, violence and swearing! just like in Suits the characters although lack in a lot of depth they are instantly likeable, have unique personalities and their visual design instantly sets them apart. The episode sets it's self in a Borderlands meets Cyberpunk meets Mad Max and I would watch the hell out of this if it was a real tv show!

Fun, a simplistic but really neat artsytle and minimal story so you can focus on the amount of action! Blind Spot serves as a nice bit of living concept art for a potential adult animated saturday morning cartoon!

"Blind Spot" is one of the weakest Love, Death & Robots episodes,
wamala-9312926 September 2021
Love, Death & Robots is one of the most precious TV Series, and I can't hide, that I like it, but because I like it and because it's awesome, it will obtain critic for the bad episodes, and yes, I will critic its bad episode.

"Blind Spot" is one of the weakest Love, Death & Robots episodes, The storyline is evolving into a high-tech future. A gang of cyborg thieves stages a high-speed heist of a heavily armored convoy. To simplify imagine scenes, I would compare it to car theft scene from "The Fast and Furious" Love, Death & Robots series are always mind-twisting and full of wisdom, but that episode is just a cartoon with violence, swearing, and blood. We can't learn much, there are a few conclusions we can get from it, one of them like ''Sometimes when you win, you really lose" ( "White Man Can't Jump") but the opposite side of that agreement is in "Avatar: The Last Airbender S1:E17 - The Northern Air Temple." "This defeat is the gateway of many victories" and it's nicely shown in that creations' next seasons, but in Love, Death & Robots, episodes are independent and it has no future and the ending of that episode kills that conclusion too.

I'm crazy about fact that David Fincher is executive producer of that episode(others too) And he is one of the best directors in the world, he has movies "Se7en"; "Fight Club"; "Mank" and others. And all we can take from that episode is that sometimes humans like David Fincher have bad creations too...

Too harsh... way too harsh...
julianmarku15 March 2023
People or reviewers are judging this episode way too harshly. I think this is one of the best robot action episodes that makes sense!

So let me explain how other writers are writing robots wrong in other popular franchises: Star Wars keep making robot characters that are nothing like robots! By that I mean that every time a robot gets shot everyone treats it like a human or organic creature thst just died forever instead of picking up the head, hacksoawing the memory hardware out of it and transfering it to another robot body. That is a robot! It's made of metal, plastic and silicone parts!

Everyone keeps mentioning the lack of stakes or consequences for the characters. Everyone keeps missing the point of the episode!

Sentient robots are the perfect heist crew. They can be destroyed and rebuilt over and over. And the best part is that they can even share memories if they want to.

Anyway the point of the episode is that the mission needs to succeed for the crew to get paid. Their minds get backup because they are robots. Now does that mean that the robots never get to develop friendships or camaraderie? The answer is that yes and no! I can't get into details about the answer because it would be spoiling the episode but it's open for interpretation: are you the same person you were before a mission? Maybe, maybe not. I would have liked it if the ending had a bit of a different take on it but it left enough room to theorize.

This is one of those episodes you could easily make a series around and that I consider that an achiecement. You could easily jump back into this Universe for another episode.

More interesting than some of the other episodes but not really interesting still? The animation is fine but I have no strong feelings about this either way.

Some episodes are meant to be just fun Sci-Fi and that's fine
saphira-2845430 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
A fun small-scale heist with nice music, very good and action packed animation, decent jokes and characters, plus it's short enough to not overstay its welcome. My biggest criticism is that I wasn't a big fan of the ending, it felt a bit cheap to only then reveal that they all have back ups.

I don't understand people acting like all the stories in this show so far had some deep meaning and like this is a big disappointment because of it. Execution matters as much as a good idea, and this episode nailed the execution of its admittedly unambitious idea. I doubt the ratings would be as harsh if this didn't came out after Zima Blue, which is not really fair for this episode.
