Good except for the presenters
jesskentjhx13 November 2021
Me and my husband love watching this on a Saturday night but cannot stand the presenters.

I don't want to hear Rochelle singing along to all the songs and dancing (although she clearly thinks we all do).

They are very wooden and scripted, each week saying the same "it's all to play for" "we've loved having you on" etc etc.

Could be better.

Great when the game is actually being played. Even though I am a fan of Rochelle's former group, we really could do without The Saturdays and JLS being mentioned without fail in every single episode. Shoehorning the 2 groups into nearly every conversation and sometimes into the actual game is beyond cringe. That aside, it's great to see music from loads of different decades being given an airing instead of the usual modern "anything pre-2000 is never mentioned" attitude. Even more "old music" would be very welcome, less JLS/The Saturdays patter would be even more welcome.

Essential Saturday night viewing
craigwynne8 May 2021
Rochelle and Marvin do a great job hosting, really laid back vibe to make the contestants relax. The presenters had to be musicians because of the subject matter and these guys were a great choice.

Great to play along at home, loads and loads of fun. Love it.

They missed a letter off the title

UK TV has a long history of music quiz shows from Face the music, Name that tune, Pop Quiz and Buzzcock's which each has been entertaining for anyone who likes to test their music knowledge and this is the latest attempt at a prime time show. The basic format is relatively well structured working against the clock and the other teams to identify popular music clips to win a cash prise - That's the good part, unfortunately this is 2019 and we have to adhere to Right-on producers idea of what must be included in a show, so we have lots of whooping and screaming accompanied by crass cliche's : Give it up for (who) Make some noise ?? everybody is "Amazzzing" It's as though the X Factor's audience has been pushed into a studio when there's been a technical delay and they are confused by what's in the studio so they just carry on screaming. What can you say about the presenters, well I use that term loosely - two flavours of the month attempting to wing their way through their Auto cue challenge punctuating their interaction with the contestants with witless bland comments and the constant repetition of O-Kayee ! I counted this repeated over 70 times in one show. It's these 2 who destroy the show with their amateur attempt at fronting a programme, they would be more suited to a Saturday morning slot on QVC I think the producers should recruit people who have some actual ability and watch a few episodes of Buzzcocks and have a re-think.

Improvement

Thanks to COVID-19 now much better. No more touching and no more audience, just a good quiz.

Great concept but it just doesn't flow. I couldn't get through 20 mins.

  • The first glaring error is Marvin & Rochelle. If someone just reads a script & doesn't add anything more, it becomes bland (maybe the show needs a comedian). They're also very rigid & don't seem relaxed (Marvin especially) - which makes the whole thing feel overly formal & not fun.

  • The show doesn't really get going. It's feels overly structured, literally: play, stop, talk (on repeat). It doesn't have a natural flow. I skipped loads, just wanting to hear the songs. And there are loads of awkward pauses.

  • Every episode should kick off with a bang. For example, the first round could be a quick fire round, with tunes playing (and no pauses for talking) & any contestant can buzz in to guess.

Do not watch
n_green-2746514 December 2019
That was 45 minutes of my life I will never get back. I cannot believe this was the warm up for the Strictly Come Dancing 2019 final lol. I love music but this actually made me angry. It is poorly put together, the contestants were hopeless and the hosts are so cringeworthy. The final two were horrendously awful and did not know any songs. Music makes such a great basis for a show and that is the only reason this got two stars.

Not entertaining

Another variation on 'Name That Tune' where three pairs of players aim to identify the song first. Sadly, this variation does nothing to revitalise an old format and the fairly bland quiz hosts don't help. It all looks a bit tired and dull.

Dire

Absolutely dire. Wooden presenters with no charisma. Would rather watch paint dry than this drivel.i really can't think of anything else to say as it's so bad.

Enjoyable for us at home but it's a scam
beccar-0126130 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I don't think I've ever seen anyone win over £1000 3 long rounds to maybe win 10K, I've seen more players walk away with nothing than something. Wish they changed it up a bit too so it's not the same type of rounds all the time. If your not bothered about watching them win and just want somthing on while eating your dinner then it's enjoyable to guess the songs too but it feels alot like it scams people our of their time some of the song peices they put on are bizarre and noone would be able to guess them. Some of the categories they do are very far stretched aswell. I'm not a fan of the presenters they are a bit stiff and the clothing choices. Sometimes they are all done up other times it's like they forgot they were working that day.

Why doesn't someone tell them?!
burgessn-3120723 November 2020
I made the mistake of watching this last Saturday (21/11/20) and agree with the other one star reviews. Why are such clearly, out-of-their-depth presenters allowed in front of the cameras? Being a 'celebrity' is not sufficient qualification. The presenters themselves are not entirely to blame, the producers need to have the guts to say 'thanks but no thanks' but I'm guessing they would'nt recognise 'charisma' if it took them out to dinner. Equally to blame are us, the audience, why don't people recognise how truly awful this is?! There, got it off my chest. I will make sure I spend next Saturday night doing something more interesting.....like staring at a blank piece of paper.

Utterly ruined by the last round
chris.rowe19 June 2021
A reasonable concept completely ruined by the last round which is blatantly set up so that none of the contestants win anything. Typical BBC hand show.

Dreadful presenters
mayfieldtherapy28 December 2022
The quiz concept is good but please how did these two get the job? It's clear that all they're doing is reading an autocue and the vacuous attempts at being funny are truly cringing. All that arm flailing from Rochelle and her over the top manner is awful. This is a pop music show and they didn't even seem to know that one of their contestants was one of the biggest stars in the 80s. All they did know about Paul Young was that he sang on the Band Aid single. How insulting. And why are the BBC wasting our money yet again by paying two people to present what is a very basic show? This wouldn't be a diversity box ticking exercise would it?
