What an Odd World
Hitchcoc18 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
With the birth of Victoria's seventh child, a ball is planned to celebrate the christening. Victoria is shamed when private pictures of her bathing a small child appear in a London newspaper. Her sister is behind this and continues to undermine her status, taking payment for doing just that. Albert, the whiney, reactionary clueless husband, thinks everything this woman says is true. He is constantly responding to what Victoria suspects as her air-headed, shortsighted conclusions. He thinks he knows best. He brings in a phrenologist to measure Bertie'a (the heir apparent to the throne's) head. Apparently, his stupidity quotient is quite high and there is little hope for him. Albert has been on the boy from birth, demeaning who he is and taking any joy out of his life. The boy is a little twerp, but a created one. Albert seems to think that he needs to be kingly from the age of 11. There is also continuing sexual activity between the Dutchess and the big hunk of a courtier. There are two episodes to show how this will play out with her domineering husband just coming into knowledge of what is going on. Albert is becoming more and more boorish. He is not the king and never will be. Victoria is compassionate to her subjects and he can't seem to figure that out, resenting every move she makes to be the people's queen.

Implausible scenarios becoming more implausible.
qdavidstewart24 February 2019
This third season of Victoria has been marred by significant deviations from history for the sake of drama. The anachronistic behavior superimposed on the characters by the series' writers is highly implausible at times. Lord Palmerston and Victoria, for instance, did indeed have quarrels but the degree of familiarity and disrespect he showed her in the earlier episodes of this season is beyond credulity. The same applies to the Duchess who is having an affair with a footman. Worse. Victoria's half-sister, Feodora, did not live for any extended time in Buckingham Palace with the royal family. In truth she had a positive relationship with her sister and when visiting England was granted a stipend of 300 Pounds. "Feodora" merely serves as device to create tension and drama in a series with the end result being that it cheapens it.

Bad and getting worse

This third series is unpleasant and getting worse. The scenes are so different from any other production that I have a hard time believing them. The bitter and undermining half-sister had got to go. Albert is also becoming exceedingly difficult to watch.

I may give up on this series.

I have only one word: awful

Although the writing on this show is definitely lacking I've enjoyed season 1 and 2, but season 3 is an absolute abomination! The writing and storyline of this show has gone from soap oapra mediocre enjoyable to feel like it has been written by an someone who has followed one creative writing class and gets inspiration out of trashy supermarket novels... Season 3 of Victoria has left me with a fowl taste in my mouth
