I've been wondering when they'd get around to something like this, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I see people complaining about it being too political, but Family Guy has ALWAYS made political jokes, including Bill Clinton, George Bush, Obama, and even older Presidents such as Thomas Jefferson. There were some low hanging fruit in satirizing Trump, but definitely more fun than Cartoon President on Showtime.

Not one of the show's finest efforts. Too message-heavy without enough laughs.

Warning: Spoilers
This episode makes me think this shouldn't have been a two-parter. At least Hefty Shades still had the entertaining ghost hunting stuff and the subplot, but this was just... boring. Way too heavyhanded with its political jokes. Hell, some of them were not even jokes, they were just the writers coming off as legitimately scared for the future. I don't get what kind of point they are trying to make by saying children are learning offensive jokes from Family Guy. Haven't they been clear before that kids are not supposed to watch it, plus don't they make the point in the same scene anyway that at least Family Guy you can turn off if you don't like it? The show never took itself this seriously before, what happened?
The Trump jokes were mostly pretty lame and old. I was hoping they would be a little more original, but you get things such as Trump's hair, his creepy relationship with his daughter, his connection with Putin, his tiny hands (which are not even that small), his hatred of Obama... Just nothing all that fresh. And the part where they turned him into Jabba De Hutt, what the hell was that? His voice is also one of the lazier impressions I've heard.
The jokes unrelated to the plot are what saved it from being bad, with several really funny ones like the cowboy walking into a Chinese coffee shop, the Russian spy wearing a giant Stewie head, Sleepy Hollow with bad captions for Ichabod, Peter singing the wrong song at a Billy Joel concert and Johnny Depp with the microphone too close to his jewelry. Stewie recording the opening line was the only meta joke I liked. And for whatever reason I chuckled at Lois saying "Would you expect us to believe the president of the United States is grabbing women by the pussy?". I think it's the hand gesture that does it.
Overall, incredibly meh. Even though it wasn't the worst thing ever like some make it out to be, I'll have to call it one of my least favorite episodes, simply because it just isn't plain fun to watch. Say what you want about the cancer two-parter, those were just meant for laughs. This one tried to be serious at the same time and failed at it.

Leave the political commentary to South Park.

Warning: Spoilers
This episode was one of the worst episodes of Family Guy from the last few seasons. The premise of the episode is that Peter has been hired by Donald Trump and the family moves to DC and shenanigans ensue. Most of it the jokes are cringe-worthy and fall flat. There's Russia jokes and sexual assault jokes and they don't come off as clever or funny but just feel forced and pathetic. The Family Guy fight scenes are always very well done and the showdown between Trump and Peter at the end makes this episode worth watching at least once if you're a longtime fan.
Could have been better
oraclexzf5 February 2019
I was watching this expecting some banter going back and forth between liberals and conservative views the way South Park does it, instead we got just 20 minutes of the same orange man dumb jokes we hear on every talk show.
Would have been more enjoyable if it wasn't a total one sided partisan hit job. Several of the lines weren't even jokes, just the characters speaking into the camera about scandals.

Weak, bland, very unfunny.

If you're going to do something like this, do it tastefully. The jokes were unfunny, stagnant, and just plain old. The writers must truly be running out of ideas. This episode is on par with the Stewie Therapy Episode as far as how funny it was, which it wasn't. Overall, this was PATHETIC.
Not Suitable For Trump Lovers
vuileharry22 September 2020
About the episode: well I gave it a 6 out of 10 (Duh!). I thought it was very entertaining and well, yes, funny enough. But I did think they exaggarated Trump way too much. That was not needed. No matter how funny and/or talented you are, you will never, EVER, be able to create a Trump impersonation that is crazier, more frightning, more ridiculous, or more laughable than the real thing.

Warning: Spoilers
Definitely not a funny episode. Personally, it was an okay episode. The episode itself felt fast paced, in my opinion. Not much happened in the episode either. The family guys to Washington DC, Meg gets assaulted, Trump gets caught, Peter fights Trump, they move out, the end. Storywise, it's alright.
Story-7/10 Jokes/Humor-3/10 Overall score- 6/10 It isn't a much watch, but it should be an episode you should watch if you're bored.

Political Garbage

They've outdone themselves
drfraud-122 January 2019
I'm Canadian and I don't like to get in the whole politics thing, but this episode revitalized the show. The fight scene that has been previously done million of times, was absolutely incredible, but most importantly, the writers went ahead and said everything we were all thinking for the longest time - Trump is a joke and deserves to be made fun of.
If you're a Republican reading this and are offended by this episode you need to reassess your own conviction. Trump is neither Republic nor Democrat - he's a selfish, self-promoting, nihilist who doesn't care which side he joins as long as he's the center of attention.
best...episode....ever

Will, there be a "Biden" Family Guy? come on man!

Warning: Spoilers
Watched this again on 27 Sep 2022 - in this episode trump is accused of dementia = Biden is obviously not aware of his surroundings, from shouting to whispering and claiming he likes 13-year-old girls along with a slew of other bizarre rants this will never be mentioned in a "Family Guy" episode - daughter of running a company = Biden's son's laptop was covered up by the FBI (fact) - wiping ass on constitution = wiping ass on the constitution - financial misconduct = "the big guy" - collusion with Russia (Hillary) proved to be a lie = Hunters collusion with China & Ukraine covered up by FBI - now take a long hard look at what you have today and you can see the very mean ugly truth of the media & Hollywoke.
What a mess of an episode

If you want political humor done right, go watch South Park. While I am a conservative, I thoroughly enjoyed South Park's political bashing because it was inventive, thoughtful and creative. I watched Family Guy since the very beginning and I never minded the political jokes that they had on because most of them were funny. But this episode was an absolute mess! Even the cutaways were boring...everything about this episode was...lazy.
Politics aside, this show ain't funny anymore.

That was a BEAUTIFUL episode!!!!

Warning: Spoilers
The most unfair thing in the whole episode was the joke about confusing Meg for chris christie. She deserves better than that!
This episode is very reminiscent of an old Simpsons episode where Homer beat up another worthless idiot that didn't belong in the white house. And of course every dig at trump was accurate.

Debating whether or not to quit this show.

Like seriously, this show has gone down hill FAST. This episode put a cherry on top of a horrid couple seasons and I don't know how much more I can take. It's becoming a chore instead of "ANOTHER FAMILY GUY EPISODE!!" Horrible horrible episode as a whole. I don't see how people think this is funny.
Best Episode Ever!!!
sfmar15 January 2019
Yes, it's slanted. Yes, it's biased. So what? That's the prerogative of the show's creators. It's a sharp, cutting satire, and an admittingly left wing one. So what? To all the extreme naysayers who left a rating of 1 or 2, I suggest you go back to getting your jollies from "Last Man Standing".
This episode brought to you by CNN

One of the best episodes....not for the right or blind Trump supporters. They made wrote nothing in here that hasn't happened... Seth went for the jugular and did a brilliant job at that. McConnell scene was one of the Best family guy moments ever....
Like watching CNN, only less funny

I've been watching Family Guy since its conception.. They have created some of the most brilliant moments,in television, but this episode was just sad. The jokes were lame, old and the most unforgivable, just not funny.
You want to see political humor done right, go watch the "Put it Down" episode of South Park. It's hilarious, fresh and doesn't rely on talking points from the fake MSM.

HYSTERICAL - LOVED EVERY MINUTE
roxygirl-3357114 January 2019
Trump Guy hit every nail on the head in lampooning the freak show that is Trump, his family, and his administration. Loved all of the little asides in which they exposed the tawdry, but factual, backgrounds of various Trump family members. They perfectly parodied every idiotic thing about Trump & many of the asinine things he has ever done or said. Seth McFarlane is a comedic genius. Best episode this season.
