This was a "quieter" episode-less constant action. This showed the behind the scenes effect when a high profile visitor comes to a big city. No politics, it could have been any high profile visitor. I know it can be disruptive but this episode really showed how many factors need to be addressed to keep everyone safe. What I loved most about this episode is that you really get to see some background info about Bishop and West. And of course the everyday personal needs of the rookies. It was great! I love this show!

The Costs of a Politician

When the Vice President of the United States comes to LA for an unscheduled visit, there is a high cost for the city. The secret service assigns the LAPD to give the support for the passage of the VP entourage, jamming the traffic on the streets. Lucy has an incident with a needle and has to go to the hospital with Tim. Meanwhile Talia and Nolan witness a robbery in progress and ask for assistance from the police force that is compromised with the safety of the Vice-President.
"Redwood" is another good episode of "The Rookie". It shows the behavior and the costs of a politician in many countries. The drama of Lucy is extremely dramatic but Nolan and Talia risking their lives to save a low-life is not credible. My vote is eight.

Loved it! The show gets more and more real as we get closer to our cast and relate to them more. My highlight of the episode is when Officer Lopez embraces the handcuffed protester that swallowed and choked on the handcuffs key in her arms tightly and squeezes him in a reverse bearhug (heimlech) and then jerks him up and down 4 times until his lunch and the handcuff key projectile vomits all over rookie Officer West, ewww!!! I wouldn't be offended if I was an extra, cast as the protester and got to be held really tight, embraced, squeezed and yanked up and down like a rag doll off of my feet like that in her arms even if it means losing my lunch!!!😜😝😂

Another show with political slams - they acted in this episode like this is the only time a VP has flown into the city. Blaming him does nothing but show the views of the writers. Why can't politics be left out of it? When did entertainment get lost?

The show is good afternoon entertainment and all, but it keeps ruining it by showing the most absurd decision making possible. Or maybe I don't know anything about tactics and police work. In this episode a handcuffed runaway driver for a gang of crooks robbing a marijuana dispenser store is shot while attempting to flee the scene during a shootout and is hit by his companions. The officers decide to risk themselves way beyond reasonable expectation to save the guy's life, even crossing multiple times the line of fire! One officer, the rookie, is instructed to return to the vehicle to get a med kit while leaving his partner alone exchanging fire with 3 criminals!! Police cars are parked in the line of fire as well, and policemen are always carrying pistols even when facing automatic rifles, and never resort to backup guns, that are usually found in their cars (maybe LAPD has different rules?). Episode after episode things are like this, but it's a silly fun show in the end of the day.
