Jarring mess with a few nice game clips

Honestly I just can't explain what the heck happened here. All they needed to do is tell us about the Dream Team. That's it. Millions of people seek out the topic and want to see the history and smaller details ... instead we get ... this. What a giant mess.

Firstly, I did like the history and a few interviews and scenes in the first few episodes. But everything is stretched out so that even minor events get 5 min in the doc for no reason with fancy editing stretching out the runtime at every minute. An author of a book about the Dream Team recorded some interviews with the players and they stretch out each point and interview making something curious quite dull. It's not quite boring, but close.

But unfortunately what makes way too many episodes and segments actually boring is that they are not about basketball. We can expect that any doc about any Black athlete or person in USA will be about how racist people are against them and how the history was evil towards Black people. Well, this one does this too times 10. There are whole 10 min segments where you have progressive activists talk about how the Dream Team was racist this and racist that and only selected the White players because of racism. They for example have a full episode mainly about how the superstar Isiah Thomas was not selected for the Dream Team and they clearly explain this by showing us that Michael Jordan didn't want him there so he was not selected as they didn't want to ruin the team coherence. It's like 1 and a half episode mainly focusing on this one point and they make the point 10 times over. Then when finally they move on to other players and show how 2 White players were selected. They interview a pundit who then claims that the team didn't select Isiah Thomas because of racism and selected White players instead. So what is the doc trying to say here? Why even interview activists randomly? At least it would make sense if some player on the team claimed this or Isiah Thomas himself. Interviewing a Black rights activists just claiming everything is racism doesn't tell us what was racism because he says this about everything. And I'm not just hung up on this because of a scene. There are full episodes about mainly this where we see as many shots of Black rights claims as basketball shots. This doc is a giant mess with no focus. I'm interested in the Dream Team. About 25% of the doc is about that and it's often very dull. A few episodes are about totally different things. And nothing is that interesting or exciting as every point is stretched out. Frankly I think even people who adore the topic of racism in USA will feel it's way too much here. But after watching the last episode about modern basketball in Africa and modern players I just think they used any topic and interview to stretch out the runtime. They didn't want to cut out any interview. I get how some topics like the African basketball scene is related to the Dream Team influence. But it should have been more focused and more fun. This is boring.
