A recently favorite in my book, I've discovered the song back in 2021 and I fell in love from the very first moment I heard it following its melodies, rhythms and the
deep voice of Mr. Jimmy Nail (of whom I only remembered for his role in "Evita" and "Still Crazy", both of which I watched way back in time). Then I've found the video and it
came with this bonus which really took me by surprise: the guitar is played by none other than the legendary Mark Knofler (Dire Straits). So here's a nice performance from the
duo followed by archive images of Newcastle upon Tyne - hometown of Nail and the place of which the lyrics present a nostalgic childhood memory of the place, the people, his
family and how they lived back in old times.
Sadly, the video is in poor quality - at least the version available out there, maybe some TV archive has something better. The sound is good, but the image is lacking in quality. The video is mostly shot on blue (the background where Nail and Knopfler appear) and then there's the black-and-white old clips presenting a long distant past. But what matters the most isn't what you can see, but it's actually what you can hear and with that in mind, you'll have a delicate, calm and amazing experience of the senses that also goes with a poetic lyric. 9/10.
