Boom.

I'm not sure what the fellow reviewers are watching here, but it's clearly not the hour of drama I've just watched.

An hour of gripping, pulse racing drama, which had me glued to my seat.

I'm so glad to see the return of Polly Walker. Stephen Graham is definitely coming into his own.

One criticism, maybe I'm going a little deaf, but some of the dialogue is really difficult to hear. 9/10

A better episode but not as good as previous series.

I like Sian Reese-Williams, a big actor on Welsh TV so good to see her gain national prominence but her role here is quite minor.

It's hard to keep up the high quality of previous series, a cult show on BBC 2 becoming a mainstream BBC 1 show with the last series. The over-the-top make up is off-putting but well worth persevering.

Continues to intrigue

Arnott finds out more about Corbett.

This is a compelling episode that makes you want to find out what happens next.

The writer drip-feeds more information in relation to John Corbett and the best scenes involve this character. The formula used in Line of Duty generally makes situations appear a certain way, before giving a different explanation via a dramatic reveal, so this makes you want to find out more about what is really going on. I cannot reveal details without spoiling, only that Stephen Graham is electric on screen.

Some commentators will no doubt complain about the lack of realism and over-sensationalism. I think if you do not take fictional television more serious than you should and are able to suspend the disbelief, it is no worse than anything shown on Line of Duty since the show began.

All actors give fine performances and the production values are as strong as ever.

Episode 5.2

Warning: Spoilers
Nothing is going to be straightforward in this fifth series of Line of Duty.

One thing writer Jed Mercurio is pushing is whether Hastings is bent?

John Corbett has gone deep cover and gone off the grid. He is involved in raids that has left police officers dead. He contacts Arnott and tells him that he is still after capturing the corrupt cop at the top. The elusive H.

Of course what Arnott has in his mind is, can Corbett be trusted?

As for Hastings. His wife has found someone else, he has made bad property investments. An ex policeman contacts Hastings telling him that he can recover some of his losses.

AC-12 thinks they have a suspect that could identify H while Hastings nervously looks on.

As expected, Mercurio delivers several swerves in this episode. I am intrigued that the guy on the BMX bike. It seems to be the same obnoxious lad from way back in series 1. If it is, I hope he gets another slap.

What a load of nonsense!!!

Warning: Spoilers
Line of Duty started gritty, exciting and kept you guessing. Series 1-4 were excellent. This latest series has gone completely away from this. Undercover police having people murdered?!?! Specialist firearms teams being shot at. All of seems unplausiable and far fetched. Was really looking forward to this series but sadly it's been a let down so far.

All feels a bit tired.

I have been a fan of some great previous series. This one all feels a bit tired and ready to be drawn to an end.

Had been loving LoD...until now...Fleming is annoying and a horrible cop!!

This show has gripped me from Series 1...Series 4 seemed to start slow, but once I settled into Ep1, couldn't stop watching! 2 Eps into the 5th and I'm questioning - but am still planning on seeing it through to the end of Series 6.

The situation with Kate Fleming is getting even more utterly RIDICULOUS (groan!). Not only is she plowing up the ranks, un-meritoriously undermining and overshadowing Steve Arnott. He has had MUCH MORE time as DC and DS, yet she is promoted to DI almost immediately after securing DS, despite Sprt. Hastings warning her that he would need to see much more maturity from her before even considering moving her up to Inspector. What's next? She takes over Hastings' job?! Furthermore, Arnott is a MUCH better cop, and is fundamentally more grounded and ethical than she. I know I'm likely to face backlash regarding what I'm about to write - but here goes! It almost feels like a "diversity" situation, wherein they are moving her up to tick boxes whether she earns it or not (she DOESN'T) simply because she's a woman (and I'm a woman of mixed race in a male-dominated field who has held her own without special consideration because of my gender; I think this practice (of promoting due to gender and dare I say, race) should STOP - each individual should EARN their merits). She is so smug, despite all of it - nearly as badly as the despicable DCI Huntley in Series 4. I nearly lost it when Arnott started calling her, "ma'am" (he is respectful, so of course he would - because of rank). He surely begins to address her as "boss" - which is the final straw that breaks the camel's back. Let's not even get into the awful hair each Series...UGH - I can't stand it - I, personally, think every hairstyle they've put her in makes her look more and more like a man (perhaps that's the intent?). Yuk!

Hoping things will improve as we go along (I purposely haven't read ahead)!!

Judge, Jury and Executioner Warning: Spoilers
An undercover cop using the gang he infiltrated to bump off bent cops is as ludicrous as it gets.

Bullets sprayed with automatic weapons at a convoy and nobody hit. Yes, I know that the intention, but assault weapons on auto aren't that accurate. It was like watching an episode of the A Team.

A supposedly experienced anti-corruption cop being persuaded into an obviously dodgy deal.

10/10 for action. 2/10 for believability.
