Not as bad as it could have been...
paul_haakonsen11 March 2021
Sure, as I sat down to watch the 2018 thriller "A Night to Regret", I must admit that I wasn't really having much of any expectations for it, given it being a Lifetime movie and all. But hey, it was a movie that I hadn't already seen, and since I had the chance to watch it, of course I took the time to sit down and watch it.

Turns out that "A Night to Regret" was actually an enjoyable movie. It definitely was more watchable and entertaining than I had thought it would turn out to be. And it was definitely a movie that provided me with sufficient entertainment.

Indeed, the storyline was fairly generic for a stalker movie such as this. But it still turned out well enough, as the movie was nicely paced and had some nice enough acting performances. And I must admit that the stalker, Jake, definitely had a creepy vibe going on, and it was something that added to the overall feel of the movie.

If you enjoy a straight forward thriller with a stalker theme, then you should give "A Night to Regret" a watch. It was actually surprisingly watchable and sufficiently entertaining. But it is hardly a movie that you will watch more than a single time.

My rating of "A Night to Regret" lands on a six out of ten stars.

Careful not to appear provocatively online or who knows what you might attract
phd_travel5 September 2018
One of the warning type LMN movies this thriller has a pretty high body count. A pretty girl makes a mistake doing some web show thing and attracts the attention of a wacko gym trainer who finds out who she is and insinuates herself into her life.

It's a fairly watchable cast of characters. The lead actress Mollee is good and acts scared when necessary, but Ms Moreau who plays the mom is a bit wooden and not anxious enough when required.

Worth one watch

Please, the soundtrack ruins the movie!
zritter1311 April 2021
The movie as a complete piece is bad.

The soundtrack is really really the worst part. It's a constant generic soundtrack with only action style from audiojungle and a lot, yes a lot of pumps from some generic thriller audio gallery.

The movie could be a lot better without that soundtrack, looks like was used to fill some gaps.

I forgot all the characters names because that's how boring they are
rudolphyall18 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I've seen a lot of Lifetime movies in my day, and this is possibly one of the worst. Let's begin with the fact that these are possibly the most apathetic people I have ever seen in regards to a kidnapping. The boyfriend looked more concerned when he found out the main character (I already forgot her name because that's how un-impactful she was) missed class than when she was full blown kidnapped. Let's also not ignore the pure stupidity of the characters, such as when they decided not to report a stalking to the police. Or when they thought that they could take on a man who, in only the past 48 hours, had killed two people, kidnapped two people, and attempted to kill someone, and they armed themselves with only a baseball bat and the very fact that they are the protagonists in the film. My FAVORITE scene was the one where the boyfriend calls the mom while she's driving around trying to find the girl. The entire scene is shot just showing the mom, with the lines of the husband just thrown in. I mean we learned so little about the husband why even bother giving him more camera time? I usually enjoy a good ol' lifetime movie no matter how bad it is. That's what gives lifetime it's character. But with this one there were so many issues with just about everything that I couldn't even bring myself to enjoy it.

Internet playfullness turns dark, revealing false friends
andremedia23 September 2018
A relatively modern story blossoms further, aided by expert flourishes of art direction, cinematography and sumptuous music giving a bit of classic Hollywood production gloss.

Kevin McNamara capitalizes on this opportunity to play Jake Peters and delivers quite a large presence, turning out a disgusting villan, though we don't know how he got that way.

Mollee Gray plays student Chelsea and carries the movie like the pro she is, though she's 27 and appears to be playing a younger more naive character at times and not totally inhabiting the role. Mollee's ready to branch out.

Seasoned Marguerite Moreau plays the mom and is at times in her free-wheeling element but in other scenes feels confined to a persona she wasn't prepared for.

An international production flavor makes this an inviting watch.

Obnoxious music
CranberriAppl6 December 2021
Nothing special about this one. It's not even that creepy of a story given the subject matter. Maybe because the overly loud and overly dramatic score makes it hard to take seriously.

It's not as preachy or as PSA-esque as most of the Lifetime movies dealing with social media, but it's not entertaining either.

A Night to Remember, A Film to Regret
lavatch6 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This film is a by-the-numbers thriller about a psycho stalker who entraps young Chelsey Bilson when she makes a big boo-boo by undressing on camera to earn some extra bucks to pay for law school and her burgeoning career as a filmmaker. Chelsea should never have become embroiled in her former friend Milla's webcam operation. The moment early in the film where Chelsea accepts payment from Milla simply compounded Chelsea's poor judgment.

The psycho is Jake Peters, who clearly has some technical skills, as he spies and hacks his way to kidnapping Chelsea. At one of the critical junctures of the film, Chelsea's boyfriend Eric, her mother and the mother's boyfriend Paul track down Jake. When they arrive at the warehouse, they utter the predictable dictum, "Let's split up!" Bad decision.

The best relationship that was developed in the film was between the mother Beverly and her daughter Chelsea. While clearly devoted to her daughter, Bev was overly strict. It was clear that Chels really didn't want to be in law school, as her passion was filmmaking,

In the end, the traumatic experience brings mother and daughter together. Still, Chelsea's lousy judgment in doing the dance, then taking Milla's check was an incident to regret. But it will certainly be a night to remember.

Really, "active zoom"?
mat123-16 June 2019
Pretending you can "sharp" blurry pixels from a random internet video with 700% zoom is shameful. I was not expecting much from this movie, there are several holes in the argument, but this is really astonishing. Weak tier C movie.

Really??
olveraalan16 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
What happened to the boyfriend, stepdad, Milla, the dead dude on jake's living???. Horrible acting, horrible soundtrack, clichés everywhere, a useless Detective who didn't do her Job? She also failed to predict her primary suspect's move 😒😒😒

And what to say about the ending? She bassically survive's abduction, and the next day she acts like nothing ever happened, a big amount of loose ties. Jake was not that clever to succeed in the entire movie, his success is based on the stupidity of the characters. Chloe bassically losses her boyfriend, and her first reaction, it's about laugh. C'mon man.

Everything is wrong in this movie
Vanessydelg20 January 2022
First, the bad guy is so badly miscast. I doubt he got all his tattoos and suntan while he was in a mental institution crying for mommy being so cold and mean. And with his very hot looks he had to go through all that trouble to get to be with girls for whom he is so out of their league? Right. The poor guy does his best and it's not his fault. But what were they thinking?

Secondly, who was in charge of the music? All that weird chorals made it sound like we were watching a movie about a satanic cult or the antichrist coming to earth!! Again, what were they thinking?

Third, everyone seemed to live in the same two or three blocks in the same city. Even when one of them surfes the web looking for live cams he happens to end up on a page whose owners and live girls are all in the same neighbourhood.

It's a small world.

Clearly they were NOT thinking.
