Too Far Fetched
Hitchcoc20 November 2022
So there are people who can implant memories in people and remove old ones. As soon as those people showed up, things went down the tubes. I've enjoyed the series but when Don and others are made into little zombies, it doesn't wash. It reminded me a little of the brainwashing in The Manchurian Candidate, where a normal fellow has his mind so badly blown, he could drown himself or commit an act of destruction. There are all these people affected by Reddington. Hitchins has to realize at some point that her days are numbered. Christine Lahti is the perfect, smug actress to make us hate her. And Mr. Kaplan is out there pulling strings. She must have some kind of resources and some kind of muscle to do what she does. The whole thing is beyond belief, even for a series that is routinely beyond belief.

Writers are running out of material

Warning: Spoilers
I'm sorry, but wouldn't revealing Redd's victims also implicate Mr. Kaplan who cleaned up after their murders? This doesn't make any sense! Talk about jumping the shark! The writers are just rehashing everything that has been covered in the previous episodes. I enjoyed Requiem, where we learned exactly why the bond between Mr. Kaplan and Liz was so strong, but the writers need to resolve this arc as soon as possible. It's getting redundant and can any one criminal have this many connections? Not even Redd! The memory manipulation is just plain unrealistic. Nobody can do that except with mice! Agent Gale is just a douche and not even Aerosmith can save this garbage! What on earth can the writers do for the next season?

Let's Talk About Jumping the Shark

Warning: Spoilers
Having a team of highly sophisticated and ridiculously well connected international criminals working together with the FBI to solve crimes in exchange for immunity is a brilliant pretext. It's what made The Blacklist, well, The Blacklist. Viewers loved Reddington and his merry band of killers wandering the earth in search of new spoils on the the FBI's dime. Then something happened. The one person, other than devoted Dembe, that everyone knew and loved was Mr. Kaplan. This old woman was a powerhouse who understood the game and played it like no other. Then one day Red shoots to kill her, but she doesn't die and then all hell broke loose as The Blacklist fractured the very glue that made it what it was. i don't want to hate Mr. Kaplan, but I do. I keep fast-forwarding through the scenes hoping to come to some sort of conclusion wherein they are back together because if they are not, the show is over. Period. Either Red finishes the job this time around or she exacts her revenge, in which case the show is also over. Personally, I'd figure out a way to get she and Red back in good graces and get back to the show once known as The Blacklist.

Betrayal of all that made the Blacklist believable
LCram31 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
How could a master criminal strategist allow any one person know where the bodies are buried (literally), have the access codes for all his money, and know the details of every strategy? Mr. Kaplan may have known the body she "disappeared" was Hans, the son of Werner von Hauser, but how would she have known how Reddington instigated the events that led to his death? This whole story arc runs counter to the idea of a master manipulator running a sophisticated criminal empire.
