Amazing story of LANCIA-AUDI
azrulsalleh-6255424 January 2018
By far this is one of the best episode that GT had produced especially the story of how Lancia won the rally championship. I should've give it 11/10. That's how good it is.

A great one

The "Lancia -Audi" parts its what I would like to see on the next shows, Even the refueling part was funny and amazing its works! I believe this season its by far better than the first season, there was not needed travel around the world with all the studio and staff, and the "American"? no comments on that.

GT at it's best

This episode is by far, the best I've seen yet from this show. The Lamborghini Performante review was great. Converstation street was fun and the show had interactions with the audience which was cool. James and Richard's part was also funny and interesting but the best part was The Lancia and Audi part which you have to see yourself where you can enjoy every minute of it. + the choice of soundtrack was excellent.

AUDI vs Lancia ++++!
evergreenius26 January 2018
The Audi vs Lancia portion of this episode is a fine example of excellent automotive journalism. I would love to see more examples of this approach. It wasn't just the brands competing, but the passion displayed and the lengths the teams go to in order to win. Exploring the passion around automobile ownership, competition and camaraderie is a noble pursuit that would provide an element above the other aspects of the show and add a balance to the overall program. The trio are all passionate car guys, so why not continue with segments such as this. One last thing, and my only real beef with the show - the female race driver has a name. Show some respect and call her Abbie, not just "she".

The most emotional episode so far?
SreckoMNE27 January 2018
This episode was excellent! It was promising from the very beginning, with an excellent presentation of the supercar. The 'Conversation street' was funny as always, and the 'Celebrity face off' was interesting too. But my favorite part was the rivalry between Audi and Lancia. One of the best stories since TGT started! Everything about this one was extraordinary, and emotional. It's something you would research after watching the episode. It reminded me a bit of sixth episode of first season, when they portraited the rivalry between Ford and Ferrari.

Classic GT. Back to Top Gear of old standards.

This episode of GT was nothing short of brilliance. The guests were great, as was Hammond and May's segments, but...Wow! The Audi vs Lancia segment was something special. Even my fiancée who likes GT/Top Gear for the banter absolutely loved this and actually had a tear in her eye. I know it would be almost impossible to make every episode this standard, but here's hoping. Clarksons enthusiasm for the story shone through and although he's the general "buffoon" of the gang, once he sinks his teeth into something he's really interested in it's usually always entertaining and insightful. Bravo!

Clarkson's documentaries.

Warning: Spoilers
Firstly, the best way to watch Grand Tour is to skip Conversation Street and the celebrity bit. It's half the program, but not the better half.

Lamborghini was fun, but Hammond is doing the typical British reviewer who can't just appreciate a car and has to have some type of snarly gripe. Yes, it may have been what it should have been when it was launched, but it's still £ 50, 000 more!

Skipped the refuelling segment when I seen them blowing up cars...

Clarkson's piece on the world rallying battle between Lancia and Audi was him re-finding his documentary skills. If you've never watched his WWII programs do! His car history programs for how the UK lost it's industry should be shown in schools and colleges!

In this segment he documents the history of how Audi got the rules changed to allow four wheel drive, and the lengths that Lancia went to ensure two wheel drive had a last Hurray! Interviewing some of the key persons behind their success.

Clarkson is smarter than the fool he plays, and here he's giving you a glimpse.

So, half the program skipped because, well, it's totally missable. 8/10 for the remaining parts. Half that if you put those bits back in! Half hour of quality programming squeezed in to an hour.

The Grand Tour in a Nutshell
nigelfour17 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This episode summed up the best and worst about The Grand Tour and the later years of Top Gear for me. Capable of brilliance but also capable of being terrible. The episode would have been 10/10 but the need to throw in explosions for childish "laughs" marks it down.

The Lamborghini review was a good review of a very good car. Despite the fact that Hammond is easily the weakest of the 3 presenters, the review was enjoyable and probably 1 of their better supercar reviews.

Joshua and Goldberg were probably the best 2 guests they have had on. They played off well against each other and it was a genuinely funny and interesting segment.

Conversation Street was it's usual terrible attempt at stand up comedy. Why can't they just do car news instead of "I wonder what a dogging Benteyga would look like?" (Insert canned laughter while the audience stand expressionless in front of them). As always it's the weakest part of the show.

The fuel filling idea was clearly just filler to pad out the episode (if you pardon the pun). The final idea was actually ok but the 1st 2 with the token explosions did nothing but make me roll my eyes. They can do much better than this but they seem to think making things explode is funny.

Then you get the best thing The Grand Tour has done so far and possibly the best thing the 3 of them have done since the Senna tribute. Clarkson shows what he can do when not playing the character he plays in The Grand Tour and throws himself into a storytelling role. As with the Senna tribute and his War Stories series he is genuinely brilliant and passionate when doing a documentary-style role. It's such a shame he has to play up to the daft persona they want him to have normally. I wish they had done an hour long feature on the Audi-Lancia story, or Clarkson had done it as a side project.

With the exception of Conversation Street and the fuel filling, this is what The Grand Tour could have been. This is what I was expecting from a Clarkson/May/Amazon team up (not Hammond, they should have cut him adrift years ago).

It was a good episode, just a lil disappointed that it wasn't featured. 5 stars for baiting millennials with memes in the title.

Warning: Spoilers
Buffets don't always have something for everyone. This one had Hammond giving a good review of the Huracan, Hammond and May doing a deadpan Heath Robinson but and Clarkson giving a history lesson on the 1983 Workd Rally Chanpionship. I enjoyed the episode but can understand if not everyone would.

Documentary not comedy
jackmckeeuk19 January 2018
A waste of comedic talent by simply using a voice over someone else's footage. People watch grand tour for immature banter and a love of cars. To be fair, one of those may have been achieved but at least be creative and make your own footage. It was interesting but frankly boring.
