...Genuinely that, it's as far away from the type of film I enjoy, but for some bizarre reason I enjoyed it. It's incredibly flawed, the story is all over the place, the characters are bonkers, and the comic book references were way over my head.

That said, it was unique, entertaining and gloriously over the top. I would perhaps not watch it again, but as a one off I would recommend it. It appeals to me as a lover of mysteries and whodunnits, it will perhaps appeal to fans of Super Hero movies and comic books.

Javier Rey was great in it, I think he was the standout.

If it becomes a series I'd watch it, better in Spanish with subtitles, the dubbing was distracting.

This was right up my street. Love superheroes. I don't mind foreign films either, so this was a good choice. Not the best film ever, but interesting enough. The plot, acting and direction were all good. Some good twists along the way and quite funny at times. Not the best, but certainly not the worst. Good fun from the start.

Unknown origins came literally out of nowhere and seeing that some critics give it a pretty positive score i gave it a try . Unknown origins is an original movie and I was hooked instantly from the first 20 minutes . It was so good and interesting and then after the first half the movie gets boring with so much unnecessary dialogue . And that leads to an even more dissapointing ending . This movie could be so good but it falls flat . Then there is some comedy with little jokes which were pretty funny . The acting is okay it's not the best . There is also the unnecessary romance which develops in the second half of the movie and came out of nowhere . This and many others parts were cringy really cringy . For example the drama in this movie , I never felt sad when i was supposed to . Let's go to the visual and practical effect part . At the first couple of minutes with the victims they were really good but by the ending it was like they run out of budget , it was AWFUL . The last scene of this movie was ridiculous really . By the end of this film you feel confused about what you watched . Was it a serious serial killer movie , was it a cheesy teen mystery comedy or was it a parody? I am going to give the first half of the film a 9/10 and the other half a 3/10 which leads me giving this film a 5/10. Should you watch it? Although it's an interesting movie , no because you will fill disappointed

The movie is a super hero movie the movie has good start but bad finish the movie is a great to watch.

More realistic superhero movie compare to the typical Hollywood ones. With such an interesting start it could have ended much better.

Orígenes Secretos (or Unknown Origins for the English title) is a Spanish movie from David Galán Galindo. He did a good job making this story entertaining. It's well shot, with plenty of mild action, a good suspenseful and mysterious plot, and a cast that did gave convincing performances. It's a modern superhero movie without the usual supernatural powers. Instead you get an investigation about a serial killer, that uses comic books as his inspirations. It's pleasant to follow, with some humorous touches. The ending could have been slightly better but overall it's certainly worth a watch if you like some hunting for a serial killer stories.

Reminded me of the Unbreakable (2000). I have mixed feelings, I think that's good. I recommend this to everyone who likes superheroes, just don't expect anything Marvel like.

English dub is awful, watch it with subtitle!

Great intentions take a wrong turn and the movie plummets! Writer & Director got lazy and it shows! This really could've been something great!

I really enjoyed this movie, with all the movie references in it, and the superhero subject, the comics.

It is bloody and for some gruesome I guess.

I watched it with subs and original Spanish, best way to see it, when you have the chance.

The idea is good, as are the setting and actors (good chemistry between the 3 main characters). The problems are the screenplay (it goes downhill fast) and the amateurish direction. It starts somehow enjoyably but quickly becomes an incoherent mess. Music is mostly annoying.

This is an entertaining film that, for most of the reviews I've read by English-speaking critics, has been significantly misunderstood and underestimated. Some critics have complained abou the lack of wit that would make the film sharper and more interesting. However, a good amount of humor gets lost in translation. I'm not referring to English subtitles but rather the sociopolitical context of the Spanish (not the language but the country) experience. Spanish cinema often introduces criticism of the current sociopolitical situation by way of "zingers" at the most unexpected moments. For those of us that understand this, the film has plenty of intelligently developed humorous dialogue and situations that save it from important ot holes. Through twists and turns Origenes Secretos takes us on a trip of silly dialogues and gory crime scenes. Character development could have been better, but as the film enters the final stretch the characters make perfect sense. I'm hopeful that a sequel will be better developed and the plot tighter.

Original , funny and amusing superhero movie dealing wth a serial killer who's spreading massacre , murders , mayhem and chaos throughout the capital of Spain . Anonymous people with no apparent connection are being murdered while imitating the first appearances of the most famous superheroes . David, a young policeman (Javier Rey) who has recently moved to Madrid to work as a Police Inspector , is forced to collaborate with troubled Jorge Elías (Brays Efe) . Jorge is an owner of a comic book shop that owns various personal items , among others . He's an endearing freakie who's obligated to colaborate with Police due to his large knowledge on comic books world . Furthermore , he's son of a veteran police (Antonio Resines) about to retirement who's the job colleague of David. The tracks will lead them through the Spanish capital, Madrid, and Jorge seems to be the only person who knows how to find the series killer .

A suspense thriller with superheroes overtone full of intrigue , emotion , surprise , thrills and plot twists . Concerning a twisted criminal intrigue in which each grotesque murder is a piece of a jigsaw puzzle resulting in fateful consequences . The film relies heavily on the bizarre personality of our starring and their peculiar ambient . As the main issue of the movie results to be the hard investigation and to unravel the tangled mess of clues along a twisted labyrinth and win the cat and mouse game against the troublesome criminal that attempts to manipulate them . In addition , it's a a peculiar buddy movie in which two offbeat characters join forces in order to solve a series of grisly killings designed by a disturbed criminal mind that recreates the secret origins of the classic superheroes . Director David Galán Galindo came up with the idea for the film for his fanatism on comic books , that'why he is an avid comic book fan, which was made apparent in this movie . As in comic books, the main characters have their identified color and several camera angles were chosen to simulate the comic book device of a frame around each scene . And being really influenced by Night Shyamalan trilogy : "Unbreakable" , ¨Multiple¨and "Glass" . Many of the roles in the movie are named after notorious Spanish comic book publishers that have had the rights to publish DC , Marvel and others in Spain and México such as : Novaro editions , Vid , Vertice, Bruguera and Norma . And paying tribute to famous comic books authors , such as : Jerry Siegel , Joe Shuster , Stan Lee , Steven Ditko , Neal Adams and Denny O'Neil. Among the superheroes secret origins that inspired murders in this picture are the following ones : Spider-Man , Hulk , Iron Man , Green Lantern, Batman , Fantastic Four , Human Torch , and the X-Men . Enjoyable main and support cast , such as : Javier Rey is fine as David, a young Inspector who has a dark past that will be essential in helping them solve the enigma hidden behind the awful killings ; while Brays Efe is mediocre as Jorge , a fatty young who has encyclopedic knowledge about the comic world , as well as Verónica Echegui who is nice as the outlandish and fiery police chief . Here stands out the prestigious secondaries as the always great Antonio Resines as a good-tempered, elderly police , Ernesto Alterio as a forensic examiner , Carlos Areces , Álex García and special mention for Leonardo Sbaraglia .

It displays a thrilling and suspenseful musical score by Federico Jusid . As well as a colorful and brilliant cinematography by cameraman Rita Noriega. The motion picture was well written/directed by David Galán Galindo and based on his own novel . He's a good craftsman , a fine writer/producer/filmmaker who has made some films such as : Gora Automatikoa , Pixel Theory , Al final todos mueren and several Shorts. Rating : 6.5/10. Well worth watching.

This movie started with a spectacular set up, riding on the newly acquired popularity of comics due to the success of the DC and Marvel popular titles but ended up with a rushed and totally uneventful, emotionless and due to a lack of other words STUPID ending... It feels like this title was supposed to developed as a limited series (one season, 6 or 7 episodes) and the story develops great for for the first hour. After that all goes to s***... everything is rushed, character development, storyline... it looks like Netflix pressed to get the "movie" out in 3 months, when a whole year was needed.

STAY AWAY and don't waste your time...

This movie comes across like a pretty solid B movie. I enjoyed it though and I definitely wouldn't mind seeing more money invested into it for either a Hollywood revamp or a sequel. My biggest problem with this movie is that the entire storyline felt rushed. Elements of the story that should have been explained in further details were revealed in seconds, only to never be mentioned again. I would love to see this movie come back as a mini series to give it the justice it needs. I also loved the Easter egg at the end of the credits.

I wasn't sure I'd like it, especially with dubbing. They did a pretty good job with the last.

I laughed out loud a couple times and hid my head at the brutally dark kill scenes. And the mixture of comedic spoof and crime brutality weirdly works.

If not for the rushed love story I'd have rated higher.

Fantastic homage to the movie Seven. Overall a great addition to superhero movies.

One honest cop teams up with one young but a lazy person to find one new serial killer. That serial killer has some connections with Old Comics of all American Superheros. How is he connected to old comics? Why he kills all people? Is he a psychopath? Or Is he a New Age justice of new crime?

You have to watch full films to know about these answers. Comic lovers will enjoy this film but those who don't have any idea of superheroes won't find it interesting.

First up, this is a SPANISH movie. Not sure why people complain about this as it's pretty darn obvious. Newsflash, countries outside the US are allowed to make movies.

Let's start by saying I'm not unit superheroes at all. I am, however, into Spanish thrillers. This one started out pretty well, with a nice balance between the old cop, the young cop, and the nerdy son.

Just about the middle though it takes a turn to absurdity. The end is ....not far fetched necessarily, but really more appropriate for a comic then a movie for grown ups.

It was enjoyable, especially the first half, but be prepared for a weaker ending.

That was pretty interesting idea. Plot had enough action but acting was really bad. In some episodes I was thinking can it be more cringy and it was... Everything else with the movie is pretty fine. I wanted to give 7 but ending was the weakest link. I would recommend to watch it because it's really good movie with some cons. In 2020 context it stands pretty well.

I watched the movies without seeing the trailer nor reading the synopsis. The movie has the same structure as the se7en movie. The tone of the movie was inconsistent which makes you feel lost to what the movie is implying.

Around 2 am in the night, you are wondering what to watch......Being a comic fan, I can say that this was super cool and nice to watch!

The movie has a bad story and The events are very normal

Yeah I enjoyed it. But am I the only one who can see that this film is a complete rip off of Fincher's Seven. Even down to the lead detectives first name, style and attitude. The only difference is that this film has 7 deadly super heroes not 7 deadly sins. Still worth the watch. But don't be fooled, it's no Seven.

An evil-doer has taken it upon himself to create his own versions of the origin stories of some of our favorite superheroes, The only two people in their way is an angry cop and a "loser" comic book nerd. Can they come together and solve this? Seen with English Dubbing which we all know how horrible that can be and it was still decent. Was gonna give a 5.0 but because of the previous sentence it gets a 6.

I didn't expect alot from this movie, but because of quarantine I decided to watch it.

If you watch a couple of movies each week this is a decent movie to add to your list.

The concept is really interesting from the start of the movie until the end where things are just to rushed.

It could have been so much more if they took more time to give the villain a better story and motive.

It was still really entertaining and there where alot of reverence and humor that most people will enjoy when they're comic book / marvel lovers
