The entrance of the promised land has restrictions to who will enter.

Warning: Spoilers
The sins at Mt. Sinai end with the law declaring death to those who broke the law. Executions are vivid and graphic with stonings, bodies flung off the mountains and arrows being flung into the chest of those who nearly turned Moses' sister into a sacrifice for the golden ram. It's a sinister vision of a strict religious time, and yet, there are more issues ahead. Stonings follow after the breaking of Sabbath laws (where none other than Dathan, still among the living, refers to Moses' actions as barbaric), and Moses' defense brings about questions in regards to the powers of religious sects over life and death.

Pretty bold for a miniseries co-made by Italian TV producers! This is a rare look at Moses' last years, showing how God's words forbid Moses from entering the promised land, a detail only briefly mentioned in the 1956 version. It's a bittersweet conclusion to the miniseries, especially the revelation that the promised land, once the home of their ancestors, is home to an even more barbaric people, a bit of history that remains an issue thousands of years later.
