a very Stephen Fry travelogue
SnoopyStyle23 November 2018
Stephen Fry decides to go further south after his travelogue series in America. Instead of a London cab, this time he's traveling in a yellow school bus in a four part series. The first episode has him traveling through Mexico. It has good scenery and local history. It also has his sense of social justice and the arts. The second goes from Belize to Guatemala. The highlights include a former addict on his own island and Mayan weaving. The third episode has Salvador, Honduras, and Nicaragua. The overlaying concern seems to be security and men with guns. It feels more restricted and quite frankly, a bit of a downer. Nicaragua is held up as a peaceful revolutionary oasis which is no longer the case. It's the least fun episode. The fourth episode goes from Costa Rica to Panama. This one has much more nature. Stephen looks harried while hiking into the jungles. The cinematography could never reach the level of the newest Nature porn. Even if it's not nature porn, he still does a lot of eco-tourism. Overall, this is very much a Stephen Fry travelogue with some different slices of life.
