adventure in new orleans
ksf-26 April 2021
Aurora (Morgan Glover.. her only role ? Where did she go? ) is a teenager who plays a beautiful piano. She's doing well in school, and has applied to college. Unfortunately, she's in the rough part of new orleans, where murder and mayhem are more than common. And it turns out someone from her own family might be involved. To talk or not to talk. That is the question. And she's getting advice from everyone around her. Pretty heavy stuff. Violence. Written and directed by Jason Affolder, who frequently writes and directs his films. I guess Glover didn't like acting... this seems to be the only thing she did. Modeling must pay better. It's quite good!

This is a very well-done picture that is an absolute must see

9th Ward Justice (2016) is a movie that I recently watched on Amazon Prime. The storyline follows a New Orleans high school young lady who attends an art school and has visions of going to college. Her parents don't know how they're going to pay for it...but they are confident where there's a will there's a way. Meanwhile, her cousin has dropped out of school, become a gang banger, she believes he recently committed murder, and he wants his child back after discovering his crack addict mom neglects him. Her best friend at school is picked on by some local bullies also. She gets caught up in her cousin's and best friend's lives and tries not to ruin her future.

This movie is written and directed by Jason Affolder (Sun Dogs) and stars Morgan Glover, Martin Bats Bradford (Venom), Samantha Beaulieu (Unhinged), Terence Rosemore (The Suicide Squad) and Debra Crowe (The Butler).

The characters are very well established and perfectly portrayed in this picture. The family dynamic, both internal and extended family, are fascinating. The chemistry between cast members was perfect. I loved the mother and father in this. Morgan Glover delivers a strong performance as well. The dialogue and various sub plot development is very good and the resolution to each character and circumstance is fantastic.

Overall, this is a very well-done picture that is an absolute must see. I would score this a 7.5-8/10 and strongly recommend it.

A compelling story told with bold visuals, and a great ensemble cast. Crafted by Director Jason Affolder's steady hand, the story moves at a brisk pace and leaves you on the edge of your seat as you take the journey of high school student and piano prodigy Aurora played by first timer Morgan Glover.

Cinematographer Jake Springfield's sun drenched lens catches all the ugly beautiful nuances of the city that care forgot.
