Impossible to take seriously
Leofwine_draca1 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
THE NEW YORK BUTCHER is another Z-grade slasher horror flick made on a non-existent budget. The film juxtaposes the life of a sinister serial killer with that of a rookie cop out to catch him. The main players are named after characters and personalities in the horror genre, which is the most imagination this film uses; everything else plays out terribly slow in a diary format, with line delivery so bad it's impossible to take any of it seriously.

Misty Mundae has never been better.

A decent psychological horror film, good acting by most of the cast, especially Erin Brown aka Misty Mundae. The script and the premise were very interesting and it would have been nice to see what could have been done with a bigger budget, but as is this is a definite watch. The specially effects looked good and there's even a love scene thrown in for good measure. Low lights were all related to the micro budget this film was likely shot on. If you're a fan of Misty like I am and you'd like to see her do some real acting, then check this flick out. I've seen her in almost twenty films and this is the most and the best acting she's done be far.

Worth a watch

If you're a fan of low budget horror films, this is one I'd say is worth your time, interesting premise that could have used a bigger budget and more time for better execution. Lowlights included, poor sound and uninspired cinematography. Highlights included, the music, special effects (considering the low budget), the performances of Sean Weathers and Sona Oren and the twist, which was well executed and didn't feel tacked on or unnecessary, once it's revealed everything still makes sense and it does help give what is otherwise or standard B-movie a re-watchable factor, I rented it for $2.99 on vimeo and decided to give it a second watch before my rental time ran out and it was better the second time around.
