I've watched quite a few documentaries where folks go in search of some lost treasure of some type. Nearly all of them find absolutely nothing...and they are disappointments as a result. However, in an odd change of pace, "Arctic Ghost Ship" actually finds something...though it turns out they didn't exactly find out what they thought they found and it's not evident in the show.
The show is about the famed lost Franklin Expedition. These British explorers were looking for a northwest passage through North America to the Pacific and were lost and much of the evidence of them disappeared....particularly the two ships (which had been icebound) and many of the crew.
While I have seen other shows about the Franklin Expedition (particularly a great one from the 1980s on "Nova" where they unearthed the graves of two who died early in the expedition), this one is unique. While it mentions this previous episode of "Nova", this one is specifically focused on the ships.....where did they go?! And, by the end of the show, they've got something to show...though an article from "The Guardian" corrects the show, as they incorrectly identified the ship they found! Still, it's very, very much worth seeing...well made but most importantly quite eventful!
