This was a wonderful story with all the cheers and tears of any other drama. The way that this film places Joel in Job's place is perfectly fallible. It could be anyone's life today. Great movie guys. Ernie Hudson gives a grand performance!

Excellent modern rendition without being sanctimonious

Sometimes I have 'trouble' with retelling of Biblical stories. Take for instance the use of language. They tend to use that of King James - lovely, but quite out-of place now. Not this movie - it was set in current times. This retelling of the Book of Job was excellent in all respects. The script was well done, with characters in believable roles. The characters were also quite human, with their common flaws. The well-off but thankful Joe becomes a pawn in a game played between God and Satan. he loses family members, friends and fortune. His recovery from this is heart-warming, even if you know the story. Having the main characters portrayed by African-Americans was a nice touch also, but this was not a 'black' film. It was just a very good and faithful portrayal of the human condition.
Where is this movie?

Can anyone tell me where I can find this movie to purchase, rent or watch online? We have looked everywhere and can only find a description as described here on the website. I have an account, but yet can't seem to find it anywhere. We are studying Job in our home school Bible class and have researched all over for an accurate and recent movie on the life of Job and this movie description interested me. We have an 8th grader and a 10th grader so I am not looking for any cartoon or elementary type of movies, but rather more of an adult version such as this. Can anyone help me? Advise me in some way to locate this movie or another movie comparable to this one? I have checked Amazon, Christian Book Store and Netflix and come up empty handed each time. Please help! Thank you!

This was so timely. We all need reminders and a recount that we encounter JOB experiences, yet are we willing to stay Faithful. This hit so many heartstrings, of what we encounter today, yet in remaining humbled, know only HE is in control of everything!!! Thank you to all who were apart of this Awesome Production!!!!! 🙏🏽🤗

Excellent retelling of Job's story (minor spoilers)

Warning: Spoilers
Taking a Biblical character's life and retelling the lessons and truth in a modern setting has challenged many. This version really hit the nail on the head. It didn't pretend to be the original story but did a stellar job conveying the essence of the original themes.
Cast portraying Joe's wife, daughters and sons each conveyed convincing emotion and depth of character and I thought they all did an excellent job.
MINOR SPOILERS - The actor playing the lead of Joe Patterson gave a generally solid performance but I felt it was missing something - whether more development at the beginning of the story to show he was genuinely caring or conveying this in emotion or something. Opening on the scene of getting an award for helping people didn't help me unless it was prefaced with some evidence in interactions w/ say the vulnerable, the poor, etc.
The plot I felt was very well written. The tragedies felt both "real" and close enough to elements of what Job actually suffered (loss of children, loss of wealth) while the means for these losses were the types of things that happen every day in our world.
The end was beautiful and while it wasn't exactly what I expected I think it was even better.

Excellent Movie and Casting

This was a wonderful expose on the book of Job in the Bible. It parallels closely and helps tobring "Job" to life. A heartwarming story for teens and older. Children would have difficulty following the storyline and could be negatively affected by the scenes that include a murder and other family tragedies. The casting was superb. Hudson was wonderful in his role as the head of the family and all of the other actors were very believable. This movie would be a great tool to use when studying or teaching on the story of Job.
