...NOT a URBAN Legend !
guestar574 August 2015
Stars: David Chattem with Ranger and Joseph Aguon Drake,Directed by Cameron McCasland.

Filmed in Kentucky with all the richness that Hollywood is unable to copy on a stage.

Tailypo is pretty darn cool,It has a Gollum/Jersey Devil vibe that is hard to shake,Very scary in moments.

The voice of Tailypo, Is one of those unsung talents -Danielle Gelehrter,Without voice-over artists we wouldn't have video-games,Audiobooks,CARTOONS ! So, There is all this atmosphere of lonely woods, maybe some fog (of course),A Man/his dog/his rifle /his scary ass knife and there is 'Slim Pickens' for supper, For some odd reason all the wild creatures ARE GONE !

fairy tale

an isolated house. a man and his dog. hunting. the night. the wood . and the revenge of nature. the most interesting detail - the creature of forest remembering the Christmas masks from Moldova . this is the lead motif to see that film as good illustration of old Romanian fairy tale about men ignoring the mourns of nature. in rest, an interesting film. first, for details. than - for good performance. and for landscape, one of basic pillars for a film far to be easy to ignore.

This is a very scary movie. It is not an 8 out of 10. That is overrating it. But it is scary. It has great acting. I give it 5 out 10. This is so scary. If The silence of the lambs scared you this will make you go mad with fear

My Review Of "Tailypo"
ASouthernHorrorFan13 August 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Okay, I have to be honest and up front. I feel stupid! I was born and raised in North Georgia- total boondocks baby. I have lived in Appalachia my whole life, I now live in S.E. KY, and yet I have never heard of the Tailypo, or if I ever had I forgot too long ago to even glimpse a memory of this cryptid. And I freakin' feed off this sh*t! Always have enjoyed good creature horror stories about mythic and legendary creatures that lurk in the shadows just beyond man's reach. So I am pretty stoked about learning something new and having a new beastie to obsess over getting me at night while I drink and sit by my bonfires!

The story is a fun, light-hearted and classic tale with a total 80's horror feel. It is a straight forward telling of the Tailypo legend of a hunter and his dogs encounter with the creature while hunting. The acting is tight with a blend of folksy charm and horror cheese. The kind you want in these. I could really see "Tailypo" as a piece in a horror anthology, actually it gave me the same vibe as when watching "Tales From The Crypt" and "Creepshow". The production value is tight, the sound quality and music is quality and really sets the tone of McCasland's vision. The real highlight for me personally was the creature. It appeared to be 100 percent practical with a blend of costume and puppetry work. Very reminiscent of "Ghoulies" and "Critters" techniques. "Tailypo" really is a fun, creature feature horror short. If you get a chance check it out!
