Dear Trees...
nogodnomasters2 October 2017
Warning: Spoilers
A fog is destroying mankind including homes. Four people and a baby make it to a cabin and the fog somehow ignores them. They sit there and try to figure out why, speculate as to what the fog is (neither film "The Fog" or "The Mist" was mentioned), and they discuss their feelings. Heather (Kristin Barrett) causes drama within the group. I didn't really like the dialogue and the faux-deepness of the main character (Cynthia Gatlin). The theme appears to be that faith trumps science, although it was a silly way to present the concept.

Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity.

Time wasting independent production
Leofwine_draca4 October 2016
COLLAPSE is one of those dreadful independent sci-fi/horror movies with a colourful premise and an execution which simply doesn't match. It involves a quartet of characters who hole up in a remote cabin in the woods during end times. The horror comes from a mysterious creature that has designs on them and the film chronicles their efforts to evade it.

The apocalyptic elements of the film are almost totally missing on what is a very low budget. COLLAPSE is one of those films which simply features a bunch of characters sitting around in the dark and chatting. Characterisation is nil and the quality of the acting matches that. The direction and script are also poor. There's a twist ending of sorts but it's rather silly and the whole thing is a time waste, nothing else.

An interesting concept utterly destroyed by bad writing at every turn.

Warning: Spoilers
The premise and overall concept of this movie interested me. I love dark end-of-the-world types of suspense and banter between a small group of survivors, but this movie is just half a step forwards 3 steps back the entire time. The characters are one dimensional and unlikable and stay that way the full length of the movie and never change. I hate when movies add an over-the-top antaganostic character soley for the purpose of creating conflict. They are just annoying and fake and never listen to reason and in this film crank that to 11.

Nothing plot wise makes any sense and nothing, i mean NOTHING is EVER explained, not even at the end. I laughed out loud when the credits rolled. There are many sub-plots that all start and stop almost INSTANTLY with zero explanation or closure in any of them. The group discovers they have some sort of "powers" that are shown briefly and then never use or talk about them in the next scene or onwards. Theres a thing about a cube they find in the house that has some sort of monitoring device in it that eventually gets broken and is never explained. Guy punctures his lung and you think thats going to play a role later and literally a scene later hes up and about like nothing happened.

The final scene has the mist making what is supposed to be this big revelation and the main character completely ignores it and continues babbling on about belief and poems and such and then the movie ends. Perhaps there was supposed to be some deep meaning behind the things going on but its never touched on in the slightest. Not even a hint. Save yourself the pain of seeing this you will only be frustrated.

Oh boy. When Metamucil doesn't work, you have a new option.

Warning: Spoilers
Lots of lame characters (the usual suspects - angry couples, the good hearted guy that saves a baby, the quirky hippyish professor) in search of something meaningful to say. They all fail. The physics professor is the lead and she tries her best to deliver a profound message but can't, because the dialogue is just that bad. A poor mix of poetry, mysticism and bad science.

The fog contains something that kills. Exactly why , we'll, who cares? The only safe haven is a cabin in the woods that holds some power to keep the beast at bay. What power? I could tell you but then I'd have to . . . So I'll let you do it yourself.

If there was an award for the most annoying character played by the most annoying actress, it goes to Heather (Kristin Barret). I watched the entire movie hoping that she would be killed off quickly. I guess they knew I would not be alone with this thought and dragged it on until the end.

One of the worst movies I've ever seen. It was free on Amazon and it still cost too much.

Colossal Waste of Time
tmccull5226 November 2019
If there was a provision to give a negative star rating, this movie would merit it. It pretends to be some poetic, sophisticated, existential horror film, and instead, it is boring over-blown, and blathering. SyFy Original movies (this isn't one of those) are usually torched for lousy stories, terrible acting, and bad special effects. By comparison, "Collapse" elevates ANY SyFy Original movie ever made to award winning status. There aren't many movies that I genuinely abhor, but this is one of them. Absolutely do not waste your time on this preening piece of crap.

Complete nonsense
continuumx26 January 2023
It starts out switching between multiple groups of people. There's some people running from killer fog. There's a crazy woman who gives speeches to trees. There's a guy with a baby in an SUV running from..a gargoyle? Some flying monster or something. They all converge on this cabin and hide in there from the killer fog. After some pointless nonsense, they all settle in to tell us all about the apocalyptic events that we don't get to see. At this point, it seemed like they were going to spend the next big chunk of the movie sitting around in this room talking. I turned it off. Maybe it gets better later but somehow I doubt it. The whole thing depends on these characters and none of them are interesting or likable.

Collapse of anything resembling a movie
jgesselberty-126 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I made the mistake of watching this all the way through, hoping at some point it would make a point. It did not. It begins with a protracted apology to the trees and plants and earth for all the evil we have done; if you can believe that. Then suddenly there are other people running from a fog. There are glimpses of what you assume will be the monsters that never again appear in the film, while everyone gets preachy about global warming, the end of the world, and other theories of what the heck is happening. Sadly, even the director did not know what was happening, and gave us a salad of bad acting, incessant posturing, dismal poetry, and unfulfilled expectations. Please don't make the mistake I made by watching this drivel.

The worst?
awesomekickball22 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
A really bad movie, where things happen. The fog is not really a threat, and most of the movie is spent with the protagonists just sitting and talking to each other. They talk to the trees about how dumb they were for cutting them down and turning them into commemorative keychain trinkets or something. They talk about how they shouldn't name a baby they found. They talk about the crystal cube that the fog gave them. They talk about how some of them have superpowers. They talk and talk and talk and talk and then they all die and then at the end of the movie the main character talks to the physical embodiment of the fog and dies as well.
