These reviews are clearly bias!

This has got to be the worst indie film that I have seen ever. The entire quality of the story plot, sound quality, filming, the actors (except the pregnant girl) with bad English accents is just pure manure. The only thing that was authentic in terms of originality is the location which happens to take place in Barcelona, Spain. That's it! The rest is a dud. No spark.

The dialogue is insanely bad and makes no sense. Oh yeah, it's mostly in Spanish (which i do understand) and some English here and there. But the dialogue in Spanish is soo bad, like, who really wrote this script or came up with it?... And why? There might be one or two parts in the story that could pass as good writing but the rest is... Uh... Dumb as heck!

The cinematography is "OK" and reminds me of a newbie student thesis short film extended into a feature with no budget at all, just friends or family holding up the mic boom, trying to get good sound and failing at it. Annoying.

I watched it once and will never watch it again. Buh, bye.

A Slice of Barcelona Trash
leftbanker-119 August 2019
A new level of bad and pointless cinema. Ugly, stupid people drifting around with nothing much of a story. Tattoos, piercings, and bad haircuts don't make you cool, in fact, these are usually the props people fall back on when they are too stupid and illiterate to define themselves as individuals. Become part of the tribe, wear their uniform, and then do drugs to make yourself even more of a halfwit. EVen the sex in this was boring.

If you like Tangerine, you'll like this.

Similar in shooting style and tone as Tangerine, this indie drama about the street life of Barcelona is really compelling!

Punk Rock Indie Gem
davidjzellis7 June 2019
If you like your drama amped up to eleven then this Euro Punk Rock drama is the one for you feeling eerily similar to a more modern version of Penelope Spheeris "Suburbia" this is an exhilarating look at a generation and culture I am not really familiar with, the attractive cast gives it their all so what's not to love!

The look reminds me of those old school movies. Sexy movie with some flavor. Original and a great journey with cool characters and lots of kissing. Has its own style which is hard to come by these days.

A Slice of Life in Barcelona, is a movie that takes you on a ride. The film gradually ratchets up the tension as it goes along. I enjoyed it. The acting is solid, and the directing and camera work were great. I especially liked all the pickpocketing scenes. The writing is very clever and interesting. Well done!

Bleak, Gritty, and Good
TheAll-SeeingI25 September 2019
Just the mention of the city of Barcelona evokes romance and the classicism of old world beauty. But in the darkly explorative "A Slice of Life in Barcelona," this historic epicenter of culture hosts the exploration of emotional relationships as they unravel in the city's seedy, lesser-seen underbelly.

Molly and Christina (Madalina Pirvanare and Jessica Hernández) are lovers thrown into turmoil after Christina's inebriation leads to an affair. That infidelity triggers their stories to intertwine with those of Paula and Anna (Anneke Necro and Irina Fernandez), a tandem of chronic thieves who too are lovers. It's under the resulting strain of these converging, war-tested relationships where "A Slice of Life In Barcelona" clenches its teeth and finds its sublime footing.

That's because "A Slice of Life in Barcelona" thrives in the darkness -- the nocturnal cityscape itself, but more too in the human condition. It's a resoundingly bleak film at times (see: "Requiem For A Dream"). Yet the story is emotionally well-honed, and while never constructed to uplift, there are very intentional moments of terrific craft installed here in which a light pokes through the despair. "A Slice of Life in Barcelona" is what uncompromised indie storytelling can look like when crafted by the right hands.

Fun, edgy ride!
chutitiu-985-13168729 May 2019
The characters are interesting and engaging, regardless of their questionable decisions - I was hooked. The intertwining of story lines was an effective representation of how we are all interrelated. Sex, drugs and rock & roll, indie style!

A Slice of Life in Barcelona is just that. The movie gives you a "a slice of life" that any from any where in the world can identify with from the ups and downs in relationships and the effects of drugs... I reccomend this film!

raw & real
jblockbuster27 September 2019
Three dysfunctional couples in Barcelona, Spain. One bad decision leads to the next... and you are right in the middle of it. The rawness is due to superb acting paired with the raw cinematography only real indie films can deliver. If you are looking for an emotional rollercoaster and you love indie films, here's one for you!

Great Indie flick!
bgianci-790-7725403 June 2019
I really enjoyed this diamond in the rough film that tackles the tragedy of modern day relationships pitted against the allure of hedonism played out in the beautiful city of Barcelona. Thought provoking, wonderfully acted and beautifully directed. Looking forward to watching it again.

A powerful film!
Anmer9328 September 2019
A powerful film with incredible performances, impressive direction and a truthful story. The filmmakers successfully transport you right down to street level through the gritty documentary style cinematography. It's a tough but rewarding watch, indie film at its best.

All about story
caseykilloran1 June 2019
This movie is all about story. The title is a slice of life in Barcelona and according to the lives of a deadbeat man, his live life, and a lesbian couple, life is hard. We follow a group of people as they navigate their hard lives living half on the streets. There are love triangles, drugs, lots of making out, and a feel of a punk edge all along the way. The filmmaking is a example of the new indie and I felt myself rooting for the main characters as well as get really angry at them. Main focus is story in this indie feature and I followed it the whole way through. Kudos.

True horror!!!
dogsavapour26 November 2019
I absolutely LOVED this film! As a 39 year old horror fan I consider myself very hard to please when it comes to the genre but this really grabbed me. 'A SLICE OF LIFE IN BARCELONA' is, in my opinion TRUE HORROR. For those of you with a very dark sense of humour ASOLIB may bring a smile to your face...it might even make you laugh. But when you read between the lines, which I feel is the intention of filmmaker, Maria Galindo it will wrench out your guts and break your heart. The cast are all amazing in this. Everyone gives 100% and instantly you find yourself pulled into the lives of these tragic, sad and twisted characters. The sub-plots are skillfully woven together and the pacing is perfect. It builds and builds like a post-rock, instrumental masterpiece to a crescendo that will knock you off your feet. To me, 'ASOLIB' is true horror not because of anything supernatural, bloody or (tedious) jump scares...but rather because it is set in the world in which we all live in. A world in which the choices we make can really affect the lives of those around us...the consequences often disastrous. Thank you, Mayhem Film Kreations and Maria Galindo for this intense and thought provoking film experience.

Punk rock Filmmaking
marchampson6 October 2019
Lo-Fi but full of life. 'A Slice of Life in Barcelona' follows a series of misfits characters on the fringes slamming in and out of each other's lives and the consequences of their ne'er do well decisions. Not my thing, but filmmaking's an uphill battle and making a coherent feature is an accomplishment in itself so I'm still gonna give it 7 stars:) There's some rough bumps with this first time film but if you're a fan of truly independent cinema than you may enjoy this one!

Gritty story in Barcelona
JGReviews11 May 2019
A Slice of Life in Barcelona is an indie drama about a few dysfunctional couples in Barcelona whose lives unravel and eventually intertwine. The film involves partying, infidelity, thievery, and the struggle to make a living and maintain relationships. Stylistically, the film is raw and gritty and gives you the feeling that you are right there on the dimply lit streets of Barcelona with the characters. This is the kind of unique film that is only being made in the indie world. If you're looking for an original and raw story about authentic characters, check out A Slice of Life in Barcelona!

Fresh slice.
Graham-joey20 May 2019
This is the kind of fun, maybe a bit over the top, kind of drama I can get behind! Don't let the low-budget deter you from a constantly entertaining story. Def echoes of Gaspar Noe's Love but with somehow just way way more going on. Cute actors. Lots of relationship drama. Sex drugs and (punk) rock n roll!

Overlong and a little bit boring
mctiernan3418 October 2019
Overlong and a little bit boring . Didn't care about any characters in the movie. An attempt to be edgy and cool but it felt Juvenile and forced. Overall the movie needed to be trimmed down quite a lot. Scenes carried on for ages without any point. A kitchen sink drama done better in any amount of indie features previously.

Daring, Gritty, Fearless!
mettlesetdesigner20 December 2022
A Slice of Life in Barcelona is a gritty, dark drama that has a bit of an old school vibe and a fearlessness to it that is not like most movies made these days. It thrives in the darkness and dark places of Barcelona streets and shows us the city's seedy side. It is not made to uplift the audience and feels bleak at times but it does have its qualities. It is a cautionary tale and a daring look at the abuses of various vices much like the movie Requiem For A Dream. If you are looking for a rollercoaster ride of a movie full of sex, drugs and emotional relationships then this little indie gem is for you.

Bold and energetic!
antoinepana23 November 2019
A bold and energetic ride through the streets of Barcelona from the point of view of various, charismatic characters. A truely realistic movie - thank to the incredible acting job - and a sincere and daring look at the abuses of vice. Drugs, sex, alcohol, the film story line builts up like a bomb about to explode. A remarkable performance!

This is a true indie gem. It gives us a rarely-seen look at the darker side of Barcelona. The performances are emotionally driven and the director has honed these perfectly, The cinematography elevates the grittiness of the story. Very much enjoyed!
