We Will Never Be Younger
boblipton31 December 2021
A class at a girl's school is graduating, and they prepare to go their separate ways. Michiko Kuwano, their chief instructor and confidante, is retiring to take care of her widowed father. Mieko Takamine hopes to embark on a career as a pianist. Sanae Takasugi, alas, has been promised to the bedridden son of her father's benefactor. She runs away to stay with Miss Kuwano.

I have the impression this was originally intended as a far more complex movie, with lots of time devoted to each of the girls. As it turned out, it's mostly about Miss Takasugi and Miss Takamine. Even so, there's a lack of focus in the editing. Perhaps this is a by product of the fact the film has three cinematographers. In the end, it's watchable, but whatever point the film makers wished to make -- other than "cherish your friends and family" -- is unclear.
