I've been binge-watching bad movies this weekend
Mehki_Girl25 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
And this one is probably the best of the bad. Actually, it's not bad, not bad at all.

Basically, there are only two characters in the movie. Some people might call this a slow burn, but actually I liked the sort of mundane actions of the protagonist that are allowed to unfold.

You see him get up, make coffee, looking at pictures of his wife and son, getting his coffee and he's about to leave the house.

Now for me this set up a lot about who this man is. He's very neat. He's very methodical. There's nothing out of place about his person or is home. Kudos to the director about giving us some insight into the character without a whole lot of exposition.

I thought both actors did their parts really well. They held my attention. And I really wanted to know why this guy was doing what he was doing. At first you think he's doing it because he's a cop and he hates all criminals. But the reality is it seems like he actually was a good cop that found or thought he could find in all people some redeeming qualities about them

So what went wrong? Well, we find out in the last few moments of the film. One of the reviews on here said that they was no twist or there was no redemption at the end of the film. I thought there was.

Anyway I would recommend this film not the best but worth watching.

If you like a slow burn....

Warning: Spoilers
And by slow burn, I mean putting your pan of water on the lowest heat and waiting for it to boil.

Not much happened in this movie, and probably could have been done in 45 minutes tops. You think there'll be a twist, a reveal, or at least something, but there just isn't.

Cop is just crazy, I thought we might get something redeeming out of this movie, but we don't. Guy loses his kid, and from the way he was talking, just starts murdering anybody who isn't a squeaky clean law abiding citizen, because apparently they'll end up kidnappers, rapists and killers.

I don't know. I hated it. The end just seemed super unnecessary. Maybe I'm just not deep enough.

Oh also, the F word, at least 500 times. I don't mind cussing at all, but when it's literally every other word for the entire movie... it's just annoying and ridiculous.

We Are Who We Are......

So On Amazon Prime this movie seems to be confused with another movie of the same title.....

But this one is of course about a meth head that breaks into a cop's house and the tables get flipped on him and the cop takes his ass captive.

It's a psychological thriller about captor and captive.

'We Are Who We Are'...... +1 Star for using a tagline as a quote by Eric from one of my favorite TV shows, Millennium (1998).

Halfway through and no major complaints, the movie is pretty straightforward as to its subject matter.

Waiting patiently for a twist.......

Okay not much twist...

But what a perfect ending. +1 Star for the Ending being exactly what it needed to be.

This movie was well shot, well acted, really put together well. We Are What We Are.

Absorbing and Intense....

The acting is definitely top notch, which the directors obviously realize d and were sparring with the direction , focusing on that particular situation, letting the main character 's motivation slowly become known to the audience. The actor that played The Cop was good and his style was spare but effective. A little reminiscent of a more self aware Ray Donovan. Liked it. Would recommend.

Very good movie for low budget
pntdhorses1 February 2019
First of all, the acting was great. For basically only 2 characters to be onscreen and carry a movie is or hard.

I had great empathy for both characters. Actually she'd some tears in the final scenes. Both characters damaged and just sad. Just a really good movie for such an independent, low budget film. Highly recommend.

This is a good one worth watching. Blake Harris and Mark D Matthews kept me engaged through the whole movie. They are good actors. The director did a great job!!! Worth watching!

Interesting and Intriguing
cbl-440213 February 2024
One is wanting to see what happens next. The criminal Shane annoys me, He comes to Eric's door and demands what he wants, like he has a sense of entitlement. Then when he gets pushy, and then pushed, he whines like a spoilt child and abuses both Eric and his neighbour, just proving the point as to why Eric did not want to let him in. This is the thing with some of these crooks - they act like people they do not even know owe them something. Then he only gets the upper hand against a better man by bringing a gun, without which he would be the useless waste of space he appears to be. His only hope is Christ - his and everyone else's.
