A Low-Budget Vampire Film
Uriah435 April 2022
This film essentially begins with a a rough police detective by the name of "John Groper" (Al Darago) being called upon to investigate the death of man found hanging on a rope in his garage. Although his colleagues believe that the man committed suicide, Detective Groper disagrees based on some evidence that they overlooked. The scene then shifts to a 17-year-old female named "Suzie Slimski" (Rita Weidinger) walking home from school one night and being offered a ride home by a young man in a pickup truck. As it turns out, the young man just happens to be the brother of Suzie and he has recently taken on the role as her caregiver since the death of their parents. The next day, Detective Groper is called in to see his boss who subsequently assigns him a new partner to break in. Having recently lost a previous partner, Detective Groper is in no mood for another one--but is forced to accept the decision despite his objections. To that effect, as the two of them begin their new shift together, Detective Groper and his new partner, "Josh Slimski" (Mark Wenger)-the brother of Suzie Slimski-get a call to investigate a new murder in which a man is found with a deep gash in his neck and his heart ripped out. Strangely enough, however, there is hardly any blood found near the corpse. Not only that, but to make things even worse, as the days progress more victims are found in this same condition and neither Detective Groper nor Detective Slimski seem to have any idea who is behind these murders. Now, rather than reveal any more, I will just say that this low-budget vampire film was sadly lacking in several key areas. For starters, the acting was extremely amateurish with the performance of Mark Wenger probably being the worst of them all. Likewise, the special effects could have also used extensive improvement. Along with that, the ending was much too abrupt as well. Be that as it may, I don't consider this to be a good film and I have rated it accordingly.
