The hunter and the hunted
DVD_Connoisseur8 December 2018
The always watchable Michiel (Treme, Game of Thrones) Huisman makes his second appearance in the show as the father of Kira.

The action continues at an impressive pace and there are many twists and turns during the course of this episode.

The religious fruitcakes are definitely the baddies the viewer will love to hate. Helena's unhinged state of mind is now understandable given everything she's endured.

Impressive stuff and thoroughly entertaining.

New developments and continuing action make another great episode. Warning: Spoilers
With Felix, Sarah, and Kira on the run in the aftermath of last episode's massacre, they take refuge with Kira's father. He's a great new character, portrayed by the (second) actor who plays Daario Naharis on Game Of Thrones.

Felix doesn't like this situation, so he leaves to help Alison. It turns out that it didn't matter, because she has a breakdown on stage anyways.

The episode ends once again with an intense sequence. They've really ramped up the action since the first season. I hope they keep up this pace, because the show suddenly feels that much more interesting.

A new character, a musical that goes wrong and a creepy wedding
SJulien1216 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Despite how many things are going on, this is a bit slower episode. Cosima is in direct contact with the illness that threatens her sisters and her, while Alison's paranoia and remorse lead her to ruin her show who happens to be thematically linked to her situation. Helena begins to be pitiful as the Proletheans' fascination with her grows stronger. We finally learn who Kira's father is, but this news does not charm Felix. I have to say that when I first listened to it, I didn't understand Felix's reaction, but, while I remain convinced that Sarah thinks she is doing the best for her daughter, she still manipulated her brother. Finally, the episode ends as Daniel reunites with the family but doesn't seem to get far away.

As usual, more questions dealing with "Who" and "Why" are given than any open ended answers.

Warning: Spoilers
In the episode we discover the death of one of the clone sisters, who Kira's father is, and watch as Daniel, Art, and Angie all get closer to their objectives. Some of course more easily than others, but we do have 7 episodes left. But, amongst all this and more, there remains a serious issue of trust as almost no one's intentions are fully clear.

Topic 1: I Go Where Needed – Felix & Allison

Upon arrival to a certain person's cabin, gone into detail below, Felix realizes his rendezvous with Sara and Kira have come to an end. And almost like a gay Mary Poppins, he decides it is time to whisk away from Sara and her drama and go to support his Allison. Who, by the way, is freaking out as she not only has discovered Donny is her monitor, but when Angie tries to come into her life, this freaks her out even more. And with a phone call to Cosima, who isn't much for support, she seemingly is ready to go off the deep end.

Especially since it is the night of the play and Felix doesn't arrive before curtains rise, so Allison finds only pills and booze to calm her. Unfortunately though, the combination dulls her senses to the point where she falls off stage. Though, I imagine, if that didn't happen she would have ended up blabbing away all her secrets otherwise.

Topic 2: Various Investigations – Cosima, Art & Angie

Starting with Cosima, with her lab updated, Delphine introduces her to her first test subject, a clone sister name Jennifer Fitzsimmons who had lung polyps. For some period of time, Cosima watches her sister's health deteriorate and then is introduced to her body. During dissection it is discovered that the polyps, and sickness, may originate in the uterus and causes an autoimmune type of disease. Making it seem that certain clones are marked for a young death if their reproductive organs are perhaps inoperable. Perhaps making Rachel's investment understandable for she maybe privately dealing with her own sickness.

But, as Cosima investigates the clone's health, Angie and Art investigate their connections. Angie, for example, tries to look into Allison, against Art's threats and wishes, and finds herself getting utterly nowhere. Art however finds the Prolethian ranch and takes pictures, but as of yet doesn't approach them.

Topic 3: You Are the Father – Helena, Sara, and Art

Though all things considered, making a move may seem deadly. For one, Pastor Henry seems to have a strong grip on his followers, which include daughter Gracie who seemingly isn't the most sure of her daddy's plans. What are said plans by the way? Well, it seems the pastor fancies himself to be the one to impregnate Helena. Though of course he does the right thing first and marries her in front of his parish. All the while, Helena is sort of out of her mind and just glad Tomas is dead, which Gracie tells her. I must admit though, considering how Pastor Henry speaks on his people, it does make me wonder whether his sect of the Prolethians is small or large, for he makes them sound rather new. Creating the question of whether we may see the rest of the Prolethian group(s) anytime soon?

That weird cult aside, the big story comes from Sara introducing Cal, Kira's likely father. Of which, honestly, I though Vic was, but I guess I wasn't paying proper attention. Anyway, Sara "just so happened" to bring Felix and Kira to Cal's under the guise that she would find an empty cottage for them to hide out in. With this idea though, came a few bumps along the way. The big one is Kira helping her Uncle Felix steal food, and then Felix nearly getting roughed up when Cal discovers them in his home. Thankfully though, Sara's face calms him, temporarily, but with all the drama in that house, and Felix feeling a little replaceable by Cal, he decides to go where he is needed and go see Allison.

Leaving us with Cal and Sara talking about their past, in which Cal seemingly fell in love with Sara and all she gave him in return was heartache, and a slightly smaller bank account. For, you see, Cal was one of her marks who she stole thousands of dollars from, and she could have taken more but guilt kept her from doing so. But now she is back, making Cal think she is trying to con him again, but seemingly her sincerity, and the idea of Kira being his daughter, brings out his soft side.

Good times don't last though for Daniel has been doing some investigating of his own and despite Sara thinking she wasn't leaving a trail, and even having Felix throw away his debit card, he found them. Though not before spotting the Prolethians setting the Bird Watchers house a flame. I digress though for what matters is that he finds Sara, Cal and Kira and nearly gets all he came for. Luckily though, Cal seems to know how to handle a gun, so Daniel has to deal with his consolation prize of getting Sara, as Kira is left with Cal. But, considering how the episode ends with Sara, possibly intentionally, getting them in a car accident with Daniel's side being hit, perhaps Daniel will become a dead issue.

Again, an episode with good acting, some development (by drop) and a little dragging. The logic is crumbling...
