This was likely the farewell to Bev, a classic character on this show and the flagship series Roseanne. It wasn't a perfect goodbye, but had enough laughs and enough emotion to make it mean something. The goodbye at the train station honestly felt like one of the best moments this show has ever had.
The rest of the script was kind of weak though. This show can't seem to get out of its own way and too often just thinks a snarky remark from Darlene will automatically translate to laughs, when more often than not they really don't.
But I won't harp too much on that because overall this was a solid episode.
