The Best NCIS Sydney Episode, So Far
geek-queen17 January 2024
Tonight's episode of "NCIS Sydney", "Bunker Down", was their best, yet! The episode contained a fun blend of humor, drama, glitz, mystery and heart. My attention was captured quickly, not just because the cast looked gorgeous in their dapper duds. I was eagerly looking forward to seeing what happened next, both with the case and with the character development. The prior episodes were okay, I liked them, but they didn't lure me in or intrigue me as much as " Bunker Down." If all of the episodes from here on continue in this fashion, I will be quite a happy "NCIS" fan.

I love how the team felt even more like an actual team or family in this episode. Their chemistry tonight was great. It made my fannish heart happy to see the friendships between the team deepen and grow, especially the friendship between Blue, Evie and Mackey. Also, I appreciate that Mackey is becoming less gruff and more friendly. She doesn't need to be another Gibbs; she needs to be her own character. Blue being allowed to join the festivities made me smile. I like seeing her included more. If the writers want to have more adventures with Evie, Blue and Mackey kicking butt and taking names and with DeShawn, J. D. and Roy being a power trio, again, I am all for it! Seriously. It was fun. All in all, it was a great episode. I'm hoping the next episode will be just as good.

"Bunker Down"

Warning: Spoilers
These sorts of procedurals are always better when there is an element of danger for the cast. Obviously, for the most part, they make it out of jeopardy without a scratch (or at least with not too many scratches) and that was the case in 'Bunker Down', but nonetheless, when done well, these sorts of episodes can be very tense

'Bunker Down' certainly was that: a glitzy tech party in a hidden bunker with only two hours' of oxygen. The tech is supposed to open the sealed bunker with the press of a button. But it doesn't, trapping Mackie, Cooper and Blue down there, with time ticking down.

It's left to JD, DeShawn and Rosey to save the day.

New Sydney locations: Taronga Zoo (mentioned) and the North Head quarantine station.

Warning: Spoilers
Another strong episode of NCIS: Sydney. I had been asking for the show to find its footing and its voice and it did that here.

Maybe a little too close to comfort with the idea of people being trapped underground without oxygen, given the Titanic sub explosion, but still a thrilling premise and they teased us a couple times of the ladies finding an escape route only for it to fail.

I should have suspected the pregnant woman too, but I missed the mark there.

This show is starting to get good and I can only hope people in The US stick with it after it leaves CBS and goes exclusively to Paramount+.

Only 2 cops in all of Sydney

Warning: Spoilers
This was an epic fail for a promising story. 4 bunkers to search...and the there are only 2 cops to search them? Seriously?

This series has gotten off to a rocky start. The characters are barely likeable and why is NCIS stationed in Sydney. If they wanted a new series maybe something about the agents afloat would have been more interesting.

I hope they get some show runners in that wil challenge scripts that insult our intelligence....the tone of the original and the chemistry is just lost in this series. If it makes a second season I will be surprised and a bit disappointed. They are ruining a good franchise.
