I will start by admitting I have absolutely zero interest in skateboarding, at all. But I am one who is always open for good filmmaking, and a good documentary, of course.
And this one seemed to indeed deliver in that regard, being very talked about and providing an interesting premise.
And I will say it indeed lived up to expectations, no matter if you like skateboarding or not. This works very well as one of those great sport dramas, in the vein of Rocky or Bend it like Beckham. You are very interested to see the main players succeed and following their struggle - and it is extremely well cut, featuring some great editing, and a great score as well.
Overall, definitely a highlight! I was also pleased to meet the director of the film at the premiere, which was interesting.
