Another one in the Tubiverse

Warning: Spoilers
Mkay, so yea this was uuum typical. And I'm questioning...

1. You, Coastguard, get a call about being stranded. You really have no idea who you're talking to just know someone needs help. Your crew tells you they found a boat with the captain dead. When you speak back to the ones who need help, you automatically assume their in danger from a stranger. What if they were the real killers and now you've alerted them you know there's a killer? It's easier for them to pin it on said stranger. Even though it's not what happened, my point is, no sensible officer of any unit would do that. Everyone is guilty until further proven innocent.

2. Your leg gets tore up by a shark. Within minutes your pain seems to have disappeared. You reach the island and are walking like it's nothing. And then you come up with a plan to get the boat off of the rocks and somehow were able to run and swim to said boat. You even went back to get your fiancé, yet you couldn't swim to the rocks with her during the initial attempt to get to the island.

3. How did it get dark so quickly. It was literally seconds when she got off the phone and now we're on the boat trying to fix it and it's dark....what?

4. You concoct a plan to lure the shark in so it can help you pull the boat. There's a half eaten dead body being offered up as bait and you turn it down? So what else are you going to use? Rocks? Yourselves? I'm so sick of these movie scripts being written with these ridiculous non-sensible morals during a time of fight or flight.

I have more questions but don't care to keep going. I didn't care if the shark got every single one of them nor did I care if their characters drowned or anything. Acting was ok. If you're anything like me, and enjoy low budgets and just passing time watching them, go ahead and enjoy. It's not an a nor b list though I wouldn't put it in my z category. It's a c for sure, so you know what to expect. Take heed to the so far two reviews.

Really bad movie.
kratos84-46-4155164 September 2023
The movie is really bad. Don't lose your time. Even but the usually shark movie standards this is really a bad one. I'm. Willing to pin the other way about the special effect and CGI but the plot is absurd. The acting is mediocre at best and the characters don't make any sense. And don't get me started about the shark. Is mightiest than Thor. I now this kid of movies are made to just pass the time but in this case it falls short my a milestone. Watch 47 meters down. It way better, the budget of the too is very similar but the movie is far superior. This one is just bad. Even taking into account the director is the same one from sharkanado don't expect anything enjoyable.

Warning: Spoilers
I watched this with my girlfiend and I want my time back. There's a lot to point out but I won't. I will say at one point I was confused if there were indeed two sharks. At one point, we see two fins swimming around the boat. Because they only mention one, I'm going to chalk that up to poor editing. What could I really expect when the film maker is the same guy who made the Sharknados. I mean come on. It's a Tubi movie so you can't expect much. They are really just to enjoy and be taken lightly. The acting wasn't too bad, pretty much expected. You already knew the boyfriend wasn't going to make it, I called that as soon as they headed to the ocean. Give it a try but don't take it seriously.

from the man who made bad shark films a pop culture thing.
HEFILM18 August 2023
Anthony Ferrante is now left to direct small scale shark movies in the aftermath of his Sharknado films becoming both the summit and pit of such things. That was all awhile ago now. Those films had larger and larger budgets and probably helped crasht the Science Fiction channelas they finally stopping making their lousy CGI ANIMAL attack movies. The fact that is over is something to be thankful for, but sadly Ferrante was unable to escape from the cheap but still clutching at him movie produced by The Asylum, a company that pays so little the State of California Labor board was actually after them for awhile.

In this one a too skinny girl and her too handsome boyfriend encounter a too much like BIlly Zane in Dead calm guy, rather well acted by Francisco Angelini. It'd be nice to see him have a real career, his take on the "Indianapolis" speech--if you dont' know what that is then you've never watched a shark movie before--is well done, though somewhat ruined by a sudden need, by the director, to shake the camera around, perhaps thinking this is the Blair Witch confessional/goodbye cruel work, mom I loved you, moment from that film. Hard to keep the iconic rip off moments straight I guess.

A couple of the cgi shark shots look okay, none of the shark attacks are convincing or scary or exciting. Some nice drone shots, which could be stock footage but probably aren't. A choppy ineffective music score credited to three people--probably just reused music from other Asylum produced movies.

It takes them 53 minutes to figure out they can use a cell phone to call for help and that's the least of the logic problems in the movie.

The movie is bits of other shark movies and basically runs out of ideas about an hour in so the lead gal then becomes more of less blind and we get back to a kind of Dead Calm plot for a bit. There are a numbe of soft focus shots supposed to be the point of view of our hapless lead gal, but none of them match what would be her natural perspective, the point of view shots aren't her actual point of view, though they often try to be. Someone kicks her and is aiming way off camera, this type of thing happens over and over.

It's just after so many years and so many shark movies you'd think Ferrante would have it down to an art or at least a craft, then again these are now made for so little money is so little time maybe there just isn't any art or craft that can escape. Ferrante is left to try to do what he can in the remains of Asyulm the production company. Too bad for him, but as viewers we can look elsewhere in this case.

This film is better than SWIM which Ferrante just wrote, to be even more terribly directed by Jared Cohnhead. Swim I believe was the first movie to bear the shame of the TUBI ORIGINAL brand, one we can only hope leaves behind what was done to death and badly a few years ago to do some films that can be more like Tubi's wide ranging titles. To be clear I like Tubi as a streaming network and I hope for better from this ORIGINAL BRAND, but I've not gotten it yet.

I suppose this film could be a drinking game with every time a character yells, "Faster." or "Swim," of or course "Shark."

A watchable shark movie from The Asylum...
paul_haakonsen27 August 2023
When I stumbled upon this 2023 shark movie titled "Blind Waters", of course I had to watch it, as I have something for sharks. But needless to say that I wasn't really harboring much of any grand expectations, as the majority of shark movies tends to be dubious and questionable movies.

And then when the movie started, those to dreadful words appeared on the screen: The Asylum. Yep, this was another movie from The Asylum, though it wasn't their archetypical mockbuster type of movie. Regardless, I still opted to watch "Blind Waters", as some movies from The Asylum actually are entertaining.

Writer and director Anthony C. Ferrante put together a fair enough script and storyline for the movie. Sure, one can argue for whether or not it was generic, but then again, isn't it sort of limited just how much you can differentiate a shark-themed movie? With that being said, then I found the storyline to be entertaining.

The acting performances in "Blind Water" were fair. It wasn't a particularly big cast ensemble, nor was it any recognizable actors or actresses on the cast list. But I will say that the cast ensemble actually put on good enough performances to carry the movie.

Visually then "Blind Waters" was somewhat of a mixed bag of nuts. Some of the special effects, whether it was CGI or practical, were quite good, but on the other hand, then some of the effects were rather questionable. But all in all, it was actually not too shabby.

I found that "Blind Waters" proved to be a fair enough shark-themed movie. Sure, it wasn't a particularly outstanding or memorable shark movie, but it was good enough for a single viewing. The movie's cover/poster, however, set up the movie to be a bit more exciting than what writer and director Anthony C. Ferrante actually delivered.

My rating of "Blind Waters" lands on a five out of ten stars.

As basic as it gets

Warning: Spoilers
Blind Waters wastes no time, having two people swim off a yacht and get devoured by a shark with no explanation. Do I need one? After all, I'm watching a shark movie by The Asylum at one in the morning.

I guess this at least has some shark movie pedigree, as it was directed and written by Anthony C. Ferrante, the same guy who directed every Sharknado movie.

Valentina Armas (Meghan Carrasquillo) and Weston Dern (Noam Sigler) are on a beach vacation when her purse gets stolen while he's ordering some bad tasting drinks. They kiss under the fireworks and all is forgiven as we wake up to drone footage of the surf at daybreak.

Meanwhile, Chris Burman (Chris Cleveland), his wife Larisa (Becki Hayes) and their daughter Eliza (Patty Cruz) are trying to get a boat for a fishing trip. They're all warned that there's a storm coming through. And as the Coast Guard leaves. Gabe (Francisco Angelini) -- the guy they paid for the boat -- hotwires it and cranks up some sub-Chili Peppers. Within moments, he throws a bloody knife in the water. That brings out a shark that kills Chris and Larisa before we even get to know them, other than that they bet over things. Well, they both lost.

Valentina and Weston get a boat -- from the guy who Chris tried to pay double for the rental -- and go out to go SCUBA diving. You know, alone. Because that's totally safe.

Once the storm kicks up, one of the Coast Guard, Margo (Jhey Castles) decides to go on patrol.

And now, everyone is set up to fight the shark. The first time that Valentine and Weston see the shark, it seems like he's running from it, leaving her alone. But in truth, he was setting up his proposal but never thought that a shark would ruin his big moment of getting down on one knee in his wetsuit. The shark then cock blocks Weston by repeatedly ramming the boat while he's trying to propose.

Well, this shark is pretty ruthless. He knocks out Valentina and she goes blind, then it drags Weston under and takes a bite out of his leg while he unheroically screams. They barely escape, despite getting in touch with the Coast Guard, before getting stranded on an island with a strange man who claims that his family was destroyed by the shark. That man ends up being Gabe, who has the dead body of Charlie and wants to use it as bait to escape the devil fish.

But would you be shocked to know that Gabe stole Valentina's purse? And that she finds the ring Weston wants to give her just as the shark makes a meal of the villain? And no spoilers, but not everyone is getting out of this shark movie alive.

This entire movie reminded me why I will never go on an island or beach vacation. Also: How does Ferrante go from the insane time travel of the last Sharknado to this, perhaps one of the most basic shark movies I've seen? Do the bills really need paid that much?

thisisparker2 January 2024
Lemme start off with this. This movie is horrible never watch the movie. The sfx are bad the graphics are horrible the acting is even worse. 2nd of all they were both stranded and they find a random man and then they get the boat to work and the coast guard went to go help her when she was in the water and then fireworks come out of no where like what the hell man. 0/10 never watch. It's a waste of time i literally was screaming at the tv cause it was so bad. If you want to waste your time go ahead but not me im never watching that movie again. If i could talk to the actors i would criticize them on how bad they were. As you can see i gave it absolutely no stars.

Worth the watch
For a tubi short budget film I thought the director Anthony from sharknado did a good job. The actor are not well known actors but they did a get job, for a low budget film, all and all I give it a 9/10 for a low budget film. I hope to see more movies like this so we can start to have more recognition for new actors and directors. Working a low budget can be hit or miss and surprisingly this movie is worth the watch. Noam Sigler and Meghan Carrasquillo seem to pull this short film off. 2 thumbs up for for them both, still have some work on acting but maybe will be a big name some day. Take the time and watch the movie.

A Tubi Surprise
Blind Waters is a thrilling and captivating shark horror movie that will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. The movie follows a couple who are stranded at sea after their boat is attacked by a relentless shark, and they have to use their wits and courage to survive. The movie is written and directed by Anthony C. Ferrante, the mastermind behind the Sharknado franchise, and he delivers a fresh and exciting take on the genre. The movie features stunning cinematography, realistic CGI, and tense action sequences that will make you feel like you are in the water with the characters. The movie also boasts a talented cast of actors who portray their roles with conviction and emotion. Meghan Carrasquillo and Noam Sigler are especially impressive as the main protagonists, Valentina and Weston, who have to overcome their personal issues and work together to escape the shark's jaws. The movie also explores themes of survival, love, trust, and sacrifice, and it will make you question what you would do in a similar situation.

Blind Waters is not your typical shark horror movie. It is not a mindless gore-fest that relies on cheap jump scares and clichés. It is a smart and sophisticated movie that challenges the viewers to think about the moral dilemmas and psychological effects of being hunted by a deadly predator. The movie also subverts the expectations of the genre by creating a complex and sympathetic shark character that is not just a mindless killing machine, but a creature that has its own motives and emotions. The movie does not shy away from showing the brutality and violence of the shark attacks, but it also does not glorify or sensationalize them. It shows the realistic consequences of being bitten by a shark, such as blood loss, infection, shock, and trauma. The movie also does not take sides or judge the characters for their actions, but rather lets the viewers decide who they root for and empathize with.

Blind Waters is a movie that will appeal to fans of shark horror movies, as well as anyone who enjoys a gripping and exhilarating story. The movie is available on TUBI1, and it is a must-watch for anyone who loves a good scare. Blind Waters is a movie that will make you blind to its flaws, and see only its brilliance. It is one of the best shark horror movies of 2023, and it deserves a rating of 5 out of 5 stars. Blind Waters is a movie that will make you feel alive, and grateful for it. Don't miss this amazing movie, watch it now on TUBI !
