We learn in this bombshell of an episode that Magic is in a relationship with Beth Calavicci (played by Susan Diol, who played Beth in the original Quantum Leap), and we see Magic hit the bottle again, just like Al did. I'm now sure how Magic's relationship with Beth went down in the internet forums. Anyway, this episode draws upon the 1992 L. A. Riots, which ironically has a link to the later trial of the century.
C. S. Lee plays Jin Park (sadly Jin's accent was such an awful caricature, like the Koreans' accents in M*A*S*H). Anyway, it's a shame that last week it was announced that Quantum Leap was axed after two seasons. Would it have been too much for Scott Bakula to make a guest appearance to give his blessing on the reboot init.
