Character motivation seems to be all over the place in this episode, with Roo suddenly going back to her original nurturing attitude towards Spencer and Maddy, yet not realising that she should maybe let Maddy know about Tanya's plans for her until after it's too late.Alf and Harvey's rather simplistic attitude doesn't help, although Alf stumbling across the violin he bought is a decent moment.
Meanwhile, April seems to shift from being frosty towards Tamara to giggling away with her like they're suddenly best buddies in about five minutes of screen time.Irene's shift from foster mother to authoritative landlady seems to be complete, with her ground rules to Tamara bringing back bad memories.John quickly bowing to pressure to get rid of Casey is disappointing.
Bianca manages to get Heath out of his funk and convince him to be the father Darcy needs. While it's good to see him trying to be responsible and authoritative, it quickly becomes clear that this is false bravado and he's struggling to run the restaurant after alienating his best asset. It's hard not to view the punch at the end as deserved.
