.....because it features country-rock singer/songwriter Lyle Lovett as that lovable Texas Ranger Major Waylon Gates (not to be confused with Waylon Jennings) who partners up with equally lovable police detective Danny Reagan (Donnie Wahlberg) in escorting drug cartel kingpin Diego Rodriguez (Carlos Gomez) to the New York City Superior Court, there to stand trial for the murder of a couple of federal officials. Bad move, Diego. Especially when he threatens Danny's niece Nicky and son Jack. Danny and his partner Maria Baez (Marisa Ramirez) have a close encounter with submachine gun-wielding punks hellbent on freeing Diego Rodriguez. Danny has to tell his dear ol' dad, NYPD Commissioner Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck), about the shootout and the threat; the result is that Commissioner Reagan will have to arrange protective custody for those two kids. As for Erin Reagan (Bridget Moynahan): she takes on a highly contentious sexual assault against basketball player Scott Taylor (Tyler Brooks) with the help of her favorite detective Anthony Abetemarco (Steven Schirripa); come to find out, Edwards' accuser Shayla Alexander (Imani Lewis) may have done a little bit of perjury. Danny deduces that somebody on the law side of the house snitched out Rodriguez's escort to a bunch of gangbangers who tried to free the cartel kingpin. And as for Eddie Jenko Reagan (Vanessa Ray), she partners up with Cora Felton (Gabby Beans). Ironically, Eddie busted Cora for hiding her pregnancy, and their partnership is not helped by a mother (Laiona Michelle) who yells at Eddie who promised to find her son's killer only to have the case situated on the back burner. As for Scott Taylor, not only are Brittany Campbell (Kayla Sofia), Destiny Sanchez (Alina Vazquez), and Shayla Alexander (Imani Lewis) going to testify against him, his lawyer Lisa Reynolds (Nicole Shalhoub) is going down for witness tampering. As for Eddie, she gets justice for her dead son's mother. As this is the final ever season of BLUE BLOODS, I hope the series ends on a satisfactory note. Maybe Danny finds love with Detective Baez. Maybe Jamie and Eddie are going to hear the pitter-patter of little feets around their apartment. That's my opinion. What's yours?
