Fun episode, but One of the Weakest of the 24th Season,

Changing of the Guardian is a great Simpsons episode with a lot of very funny scenes and a good storyline. However,I think most of the fun in this episode was in the first fifteen episodes,it started getting weak once Rashida Jones came along, the episode took a more serious turn and it wasn't as enjoyable. The start of the episode was certainly were most of the fun and enjoyment came from, with hurricane and Danny DeVito's first time voicing Herb since the third season and Marge and Homer looking for a guardian, it started off with tons of laughs, but once they found their guardians it just became more serious than you'd expect from this show.I like Rashida Jones,I think she is hilarious in many things I've seen her in,but the dialogue that was written for her character just wasn't funny,it wasn't really suppose to be most of the time.Changing if the Guardian is a lot of fun at the start, but once the guardians come along, the episode does get weak.

Marge and Homer worry about who would look after their kids if the worst were to happen after a deadly hurricane,so they decide to go in search of guardians for Bart,Lisa and Maggie.

Nothing special. A 6 out of 10 episode

Knowing the rough idea of the plot beforehand, I had higher than normal hopes for this episode. Beyond some promising episodes, I'm thinking of Gone Abie Gone here, season 24 has been a bit of a drag. Changing of the Guardian is no different.

The gist of the episode is that after a minor scrape with death, Homer and Marge realize Bart, Lisa, and Maggie need guardians to take care of them in the event that they both die. This starts a search throughout Springfield for the perfect guardians.

The episode concept for this one intrigued me. Unfortunately, I don't feel the episode delivered on the concept. The highlight of the episode ended up being the beginning. The resolution at the end of Changing of the Guardian is the same one from many episodes of The Simpsons, and those episodes have expressed it better.

The Simpsons Changing of the Guardian

Warning: Spoilers
The Simpsons play board games inside while a wild storm is outside. A big twister arrives taking the dog making the family go chase after him with Lenny and Carl. The dog is found with Homer and Marge getting trapped by a falling bank. After some time they are saved. Marge and Homer then start to worry who they will give their kids to if for some reason they die quite early. They visit family and friends and none of them seem well with the family going to the beach. They see some perfect couple and the kids seem smitten with them as well. They ask Portia and Matt to be the kids guardians and after some worry from Portia they agree to look after the kids. The kids with the couple are then taken away and Marge with Homer must go rescue their kids. They are then reunited with the kids not letting the couple be the guardians. Again nothing special even with talent like Rashida Jones adding nothing to the boring role.

EPISODE GRADE: C (MVP: Julie Kavner)
