A Fun Film For the Family
ath062920 November 2023
Wild Boys is an action comedy that doesn't take itself too seriously. Kate ( Kate Frampton) insists on staying home and playing video games until her father dies. His final wish is that she goes on an adventure like they did when she was young. Kate, motivated by keeping the family home, sets out to find the treasure her father has hidden. On her adventure, she encounters many kooky characters in the woods, including the wild boys.

This was shot in a beautiful location. The variety of exterior locations sets the scenes beautifully and allows for the antics to play out. Drunk Dan ( Patrick J. Anderson) always seems to be in the right place at the right time to shed some light on a new piece of information and add a great comic element.

This was a fun, independent movie. The chemistry of the cast worked well on screen. This is a great movie for a family movie night if you want to support small independent filmmakers.

Watch Wild Boys.

A new Indie film that is a delightful romp around a current subject of doing the right thing. The actors and actresses do an authentic job of creating believable characters that are fun and engaging. We particularly liked the humor portrayed in the various situations. The heroine, an extreme home body, is sent on a quest by her deceased father to find a hidden treasure. While she searches his beloved forest for clues, she comes upon the Wild Boys. She spends the entire movie searching, as she only has a week, to find the treasure. If she succeeds, she inherits her father's house, in which she lives. I will not write how she finds the treasure her father sent her after, but she does, and the movie is worth a watch, so you too can find out. This movie has won awards and is a delightful lesson in life's secret gifts.

What a FUN movie!

A truly fun and light-hearted film that beautifully showcases the quaint town of Springville, CA. For anyone who grew up in a small mountain town, this movie gives all the nostalgic feel-goods. The cinematography is on another level when it comes to low-budget, indie films. The score is a BANGER throw-back to 80s jams. And finally, the comedy is subtle yet absurdly in-your-face in a really well-balanced way. It seems that the main cast improvised often while filming and created some really honestly-funny moments. Overall, what a great film for the whole family with a beautiful message of "not judging people who look different than you."

Wild Boys, a delightful film experience.

A hidden gem of an independent film that is a delight throughout. It has humor and insights that come upon you unexpectedly when you least expect it. The acting is top notch, not just by the leads, but the supporting cast as well. The photography takes advantage of the beautiful mountain and forested landscape used as the film's settings. Costuming is right on point as well as impressive realistic hairstyles for the two Wild Boys. It's a film experience that is is joyful, funny and at the same time deals with current cultural issues such as the status of women in present society. All those things aside, it a fun movie experience.

A Fun Adventure
dtittone30 March 2023
Director Morten Forland crafts a fun and entertaining adventure story with his film, "Wild Boys." After reclusive video gamer Kate (Kate Frampton) loses her father, she is forced to step outside of her comfort zone in order to fulfill her father's last wish: that she embark on an adventurous treasure hunt! If she finds the 'treasure' in the allotted time stipulated in the will, then she will receive all of her father's possessions. Kate Frampton succeeds in leading a cast of interesting and fun characters, including a couple of "wild boys" who live in the forest. The film is full of humor and overall provides a fun and entertaining viewing experience.

Wild and Crazy Kids

Wild Boys does many things right while dishing out laughs throughout the runtime of this movie, but one of them stands out as truly inspired: KEEP THESE GUYS IN FRAME TOGETHER.

It's not inventing the wheel or anything (little caveman humor for you there), plenty of well known comedies understand to allow the performers to make us laugh, but there is a temptation in indie comedies to let the gags and writing drive the humor instead of the performances. This is where they often fall flat, as the writing often isn't up to par. Here, not only are the one liners constantly delivering, but the two Wild Boys have such great chemistry, their line reads and subtle physical comedy together is with the price of admission alone.

Rounding out the cast are a handful of other quirky characters who all know exactly what movie their in. Shoutout to the mumbling redneck and the ICE agent that is a living, breathing version of South Park's "Principle PC."

There is a bit of a treasure hunt thread that ties everything together that comes with a heartwarming message. The cinematography and locations all lend to production value. I loved the score, which calls back to the Indiana Jones adventures. It's funny because it's way over the top and maybe too intense for what we're seeing, and the filmmakers know it. Oh yeah, they know exactly what they're doing.
