Great start to season 26
hannahkaduncan9 February 2023
It was overall a well done episode and a good starting point to the season! I enjoyed Cartman's subtle character development as Cartman constantly being a menace was starting to get overused and tiring. I like how they kept Cartmans personality and he is still over the top but have made subtle changes to make him more bearable and this will probably make his meltdown moments funnier as I found it to be in this episode. Cupid Ye was downright hilarious and I definitely enjoyed seeing Cupid Me return. However there were some parts of the episode I did not enjoy which goes for most things. I was definitely happy seeing that they ended Tegridy Farms as it had definitely run its course through the seasons. However I would have liked some context onto why they moved back to South Park. To me it was pretty confusing to see Randy in his crazy Tegridy phase jumping back to his home in South Park and in his geologist uniform. I'm unsure if it will be addressed further into the season but I guess I'll just have to see. Also again with the out of context events I found Kyle and Tolkiens friendship come completely out of no where. I thought it was pretty random and was hoping with Stan back from the farm they would have a stronger friendship unlike the last few seasons where it went up and down. I also have seen the jump in the different voices of the characters through seasons. I definitely miss when their voices were higher pitched but now all the characters voices (with the exception of Kenny and butters) kind of sound bland and everyone sounds the same. Overall it was a really great episode and I found it pretty entertaining.

No wow factor
learningbreezee10 February 2023
South Park is my number one favorite show regardless of how downhill it's been going since Season 20. That's my opinion, I said it, I'm standing by it! I enjoyed this episode since they are staying somewhat relevant to what's going on in the world. TikTok and Kanye CLASSIC would've been great to see our old pal gay fish. I wish it had more WOW factor for me, everything they talk about and show has been talked about and shown on podcasts. It may be the digital world we're living in that South Park can't be ahead of the game anymore, but I didn't laugh out loud or gasp or thought about it in depth. Excited for more episodes though! More Butters in my life please!

P. S. Can't stand the voice changes of Randy, Cartman and Stan.

P. S. S. I know Tolkien is a running joke, but I miss Token. Doesn't sound right when they say Tolkien. RIP TO AN OG.

solid episode
hattiewilson-785299 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
It was a good episode and definitely a solid start, but i feel like they almost had too much going on. Most of the plots wrapped up nicely, but i would've liked a better resolution with kyle and stan. The tiktok stuff also gave me severe second hand embarrassment. Overall, it was pretty funny, and i wonder if this new dynamic between kyle, stan, and tolkien will be a focus of the season. I really enjoyed the plot with cupid ye and cartman, and the ending was definitely the strongest part of the episode. On a side note, i can't even explain how relieved i am that this wasn't about tegridy farms.

8/10.

Genius start
CJPALLISTER20029 February 2023
One of the best opening episodes to a season that they've ever done it's all about jewish people vs black people and Tiktok viral videos as well as the separation between Stan and Kyle. Cartman takes the place of Kanye West as the bipolar nazi who spreads hate towards the Jews and of course in typical south park fashion this is handled in brutal but hilarious and subtle fashion nothing hateful here but this is one of the episodes that made me laugh the most I had to catch my breathe through some of this. I'm glad to see that Trey and Matt are back on form after a few specials that were not too great it's good to see that they have returned to what makes south park so great social and political satire built around the established town and characters.

The boys are finally back!
mgalercail9 February 2023
Ok so after the eh season 25 I'm glad to see the Boys back in the spotlight.

It needs to be said, there was too much Randy in the last handful of episodes and specials. He's a great character and has had fantastic moments throughout the show, but once the Weed farm started, It just continued and they ran through every possible story with him. It was stale by the end of streaming wars. He's fine when it's part of the ensemble, as it should be with other characters.

The heart and soul of this show has always been the boys and their misadventures, that's all we want!

Last season had the Air soft episode and it was simply Perfect and hilarious.

Just funny random stuff they get into and the never ending rivalry between Cartman and Kyle.

This episode has heart in it, and great banter we expect from this show.

I hope this is the theme for this season. It's well needed after all this time.

After 20 plus seasons, it's fully understandable any show would dip in quality. And I felt it was happening here, but seems Matt and Trey realize what people want and now can return to form.

Kanye, eh?
ericstevenson10 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This episode mocks Kanye West, who has been very easy to make fun of. Although he appeared as a character in previous episodes, they just didn't use him here for some reason. This episode featured Cupid Me from a previous episode now as Cupid Ye, wanting everyone to hate Jews. I still think Whoopi Goldberg is worse than Kanye. She said the Holocaust wasn't about race! Anyway, this has a great credits gag too.

I am in fact glad this didn't feature Tegridy Farms. I guess Cupid Ye was real after all. We saw Cartman sneaking into Tolkein's room, didn't we or ye? I'm pretty sure he's real. I get the joke about the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus now being related to Cupid. Just be a good Christian, mkay? ***1/2.

Strong season Premiere!
kadenceking9 February 2023
Definitely one of the best season premieres of South Park in a few years. The idea of Cupid Ye was just hilarious, really was looking forward to seeing if they would comment on the interview and was glad to see they did! I enjoyed seeing Cartmans slight character development in this episode and am interested to see what it will lead to in later episodes or if this "new" cartman was just a one off. Also NO MORE TEGRIDY! It appears that stan has now moved back into South Park and Randy is back in his old geologist outfit (about time). Now on to the bad; Kyle and Tolkien's friendship came out of no where and seems so sudden . Tolkien and Stan were forming a really nice friendship in the last few seasons and now that the Tegridy storyline is done it seems so is their friendship. Kyle and Tolkien just came out of no where and the fact that their friendship is bonding over tiktoks? The tiktoks themselves were hilarious though and I did kind of enjoy the reference to it but I can see it getting old quick. I do overall enjoy Kyle and Tolkiens new friendship but I hope it's more built upon as it just initially seemed really sudden. Stan: he just seemed really off this episode I know he was upset over Kyle finding a new best friend but he was pretty bland, with Randy seemingly not being the centre of the show anymore I hope that doesn't mean the neglect of Stan's character . Overall the episode was good, made me laugh a lot, solid start to the season but I'm hoping for better the next episode.

Very solid way to start the season!
sawyoutoday9 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Thought this episode was a perfect way to start the season. The TikTok references and Kanye jokes felt so perfect and how they integrated Kanye in the show without paralleling the real world is just amazing. Cupid Me being an actual being who can manipulate people's thoughts was hysterical, and need I say more about Kyle "running hollywood"? HILARIOUS. AMAZING SAITRE THROUGH AND THROUGH. And Cartman doing this all for Stan? I know it's been shown that he cares for Stan but it's just sweet to see. Trey and Matt know how to start a season right, hoping the next 5 episodes keep this quality up!!!

Rehash
SureCommaNot9 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I was excited to see a new episode had been released. But I must say, if I want to see old jokes, wouldn't I just rewatch those old episodes? I don't need to see them redone here.

And I know griping about the changing voices is so 'last season,' but it did take me out of it. I don't know what's happening here. It's not like the voice actors have gone through puberty since the show started.

I'm also confused by an incongruity: in Tolkien's bedroom, his father sees Cartman in the room, indicating Cartman was always actually doing the Cupid Me stuff, peeing in characters' mouths and everything. I thought it was a hilarious reveal. But then later the characters say they see something flying around, and they see Cupid Ye on their TV screens. So the reveal gets quickly contradicted. We've had other alternate-identity storylines in the past, and it's usually made some level of sense, so I'm rather confused right now.

So if you can look past all that, you may enjoy the episode. Due to my ethnicity, you might think I should have some level of control over the show. But alas, I do not.

A Classic South Park Episode
ferozc1379 February 2023
South Park has done it again with playing sensitive topics such as race, religion and of course Kanye appearing Cartman's little angel as Cupid Ye and dividing Kyle and Tolkien because Cupid's intentions are to be a good christian. This definitely with stands with Trapped in Closet and 200 and 201. Genius and hilarious.

I don't understand some negative review about this episode, this is pure South Park. Randy talking about woke movies and Avatar 2 is funny as hell.

Cartman being Cartman with personality disorders and hate for Kyle and you know people like Kyle. The episode worth the wait seriously. Enjoy.

South Park is back and better than ever!
jammy_sammy18 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
After a series of strange specials and weirdly short season, i was almost convinced that south park was over. Then i watched Cupid Ye, a hilarious parody on the recent Kanye drama. While a major subplot focuses on kyle and tolkien making tiktok's, it doesn't bore you. It does kinda feel weird to see south park characters making tiktok videos but it doesn't feel like it's trying to appeal to a younger audience rather than make fun of them. The meaninglessness of making a tiktok pared with the comical over dramatization over the drama makes for a fun, laid back episode. This feels like a classic south park episode. I can't wait for more!

Hasn't been South Park for a long time.
fountasalexander11 February 2023
I've seen every single episode of South Park to date, I've loved and followed the shows for years.

However no matter how hard they try, it just doesn't feel right. This episode was a somewhat decent premiere, but man I really wish we had a GREAT opening to the 26th season.

I love this show but they need to really up their game somehow, sure it must be hard writing original episodes considering they've done over 300 of them, but maybe they should've stopped earlier.

Also I agree with the majority about Randy, man he was such a good character but he's been so annoying these past few seasons, felt like he was the main protagonist.

Stan sounds like a 16 year old tbh, it's kinda weird, they're meant to be in the fourth grade. Obviously Trey Parker can't seem to do the voice anymore. Understandable, but it doesn't feel right.

Okay episode but yeah nothing much to it.

Lived up to the s26 premiere hype!
lemonlimegatorade9 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Finally an episode revolving around the boys! Definitely in my top 10 since the beginning of season 18, probably even top 3. The references are very recent which makes them even funnier. Kanye stuff and the return of Cupid Me was executed well, and the whole TikTok side plot thing was hilarious and not very surprisingly up to date with all the new horrific TikTok sounds. The only thing I really found weird about this episode ending was a little bit abrupt due to the slow pacing in the beginning. Otherwise It was a great episode to start of the season, defo living up to the hype. No tegridy = Good episode.

This episode makes me love South Park more, yet hate Cartman (and Randy Marsh) more.
ansonclockerlau10 February 2023
The first shot of South Park season.26 is fantastic yet marvellous, with excellent writing, strong social satire, and flawless execution. The story is well structured, the bond between characters were well mix, and also created some new atmosphere within the series. Plus, this episode makes me hate Eric Cartman even more, other than The Poor Kid in season 15. Cartman is most antiheroes character you can think, but he's despicable and ferocious like the hyena. Randy also guity for making the same evil comment. But it lacks one thing: strong character building, Cartman and Randy were the same hotheads as they were despite many episodes through, something lost from the series that used to be found.

No one could denied that the series has maintain its consistency toward its story arc and climax. The ending is hilarious, put a cherry on the top of perfect black forest cake.

Funny but not at the level south park is
crossx-4339124 February 2023
Look, I love south park, how they aren't afraid to pull any punches or anything like that, but i think that is a "wasnt", it's not "not offensive enough" it's just not south park level of writing, cartman being semi PC doesn't sit right with me, it wasn't an exactly enjoyable watch, seeing my favorite characters seem degenerated, go back to any episode season 5-16 everything is completely different writing wise, and that sucks! I loved how they'd have serious people say "nuh uh" or something because guess what it was funny. But they still have current events, which was all this one was, i just wish they'd go back and be the witty, offensive, enjoyable and engaging show it once was.

Horrible
bedub-7592412 February 2023
I've watched every SouthPark episode since the start, rewatched the entire series probably 3 times. It's been declining for years. This episode though, is absolutely horrible. I stared at the screen for 15 minutes without a single chuckle. It's not funny, it's not creation, not imaginative, it's utter trash. I love(d) SouthPark so much, I never wanted to see it go off the air, but I'm starting to think it should have been cancelled years ago. That way we'd be left with fond memories of it's excellence, instead of utter disappointment at how far it's fallen and how terrible it has become.

Sometimes when your dog is sick, you have to put it down. It's time to put down SouthPark.

Continued Decline
andrephill13 February 2023
What happened to South Park? This episode is so safe, and has no interesting or insightful commentary whatsoever. Sad how many of the fan boys can't point out the shows blatant decline.

However you feel about Kanye, dunking on him is undoubtedly overdone. We've all seen it on just about every late night talk show, Twitter account, and comedy show. It's so safe from a show that used to be on the cutting edge of comedy.

There also don't seem to be any jokes. What happened to the self contained comedy amongst the kids? Seems like the care and attention Matt and Trey used to pour into the show has vanished.

Cancel South Park Now!
vincentviolet-6507111 February 2023
I don't know where to start. It is one of the worst episodes of South Park that I have ever seen, unfortunately that is becoming an increasingly competitive competition. I have not found South Park funny in at least 10 years, they have completely killed their own show. I think the main reason this happened is because they became too successful and they started to get recognition for making smart social and political points, and so they have gradually stopped adding the fun dumb jokes that made it great, but if you take that away you lose the best part and the show just becomes two middle aged men giving what is now quite standard opinions. If I tell you everything I don't like about the episode and why then my review will get censored. This is a bad episode and I think that Matt and Trey were forced into picking a losing fight. These same 'Vaudevillians' own Comedy Central and Matt Stone himself is a 'Vaudevillian' so it makes sense that they would take Vaudevilles side. South Park used to at least appear to be edgy and rebellious but now all they do is parrot back the Status Quo watching it now feels like watching The Sex Pistols playing overproduced autotune pop music they have lost all the fire in their hearts and are now just an empty shell of what they used to be.

Watching Bulls Jordan vs Wizards Jordan
CensorMeNot16 February 2023
There's sooooo many golden examples of these crazy, wacky, weirdos doing ridiculous things nowadays, and it's a shame South Park can't capitalize on it. That's all you can think about while watching too.

Who wrote this vapid script? Who's doing the voices? Is it possible for someone's personality and sense of humor to change in such a massive way? These are the things I was thinking while watching. I imagined some uncoordinated, socially awkward, blue haired, activist with a serious chip on their shoulder, just gleaming on how they ruined the show.

Whoever it is, they're completely out of touch with what people find funny or it's one of the creators playing by the rules for a few more multimillion dollar pay checks. Either way, every episode following season 18 has left me disappointed. The newest episodes have left me angry, so I will not watch another new episode. Going back to the Jordan days and will start with Ginger Kids😂🤡🤣

Lousy interpretation and not funny
troyparry-4966715 February 2023
I can't stand Ye, and understood what the episode was about, however this was a terrible interpretation or the events that occurred. I understand that things don't always have to be true, but this is supposed to be comedy, and it seriously missed the mark on this one. This is the first South Park episode I've reviewed, this is how poor the episode was. poorly executed
talllwoood1327 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This episode had potential. I liked the idea of Cupid becoming what he became as no one would really see it coming. I'm surprised they went out swinging with this as most of the time you'd think the first episode would set the standard for the rest of the season. I think the only thing I really liked besides the somewhat high brow shots at Kanye West was Randy taking about "woke" culture and the overabundance of super hero movies. The principal and everyone getting so upset about Kyle running Hollywood has to be one of the dumbest things they've set a story around. Who would believe it. It's like they had absolutely no idea what was going to be for "story A" so they just went with that garbage. Sure Kyle's ethnicity is a huge reason this plot works but they could have done a bit better than "kyle runs hollywood". I love how they made fun of the over rated app tiktok and their stupid dancing videos as yeah .. that is a thing! No idea who watches them but oh well. Remember the website or app vine? No exactly!

Want to know how "Edgy" the show is in this episode they don't even show the "Rapper" they are making fun of. I think my butter knives are more edgy.

The last episode I enjoyed that actually was "a return to form" as everyone keeps boasting about in the reviews on here was probably the paramount special they did involving streaming websites. This on the other hand was another episode I'll never watch again unless a friend who is a die hard fan of the show comes over and hasn't seen it. I think South Park should just stick to those small movies. I feel there was so much more they could have made fun of but just took the laziest route possible to get another pay check.
