Chandler Riggs is best known for playing the character Carl Grimes on eight seasons of The Walking Dead, but he has a few horror credits beyond that one – the short Jesus H. Zombie, the Stephen King-inspired Mercy, and the home invasion film Keep Watching. Now Variety reports that Riggs has signed on to star in the horror comedy Hacked, which has secured a SAG Interim agreement so it will be able to go into production during the ongoing Screen Actors Guild strike and is expected to start filming soon in Los Angeles and Tampa.
Shane Brady (Breathing Happy) will be directing the film, which is partially inspired by true events. Brady and producer Emily Zercher were hacked in 2021, and according to Variety “the first ten minutes of the film will be based on their experience. The rest of the film shows ‘what they wish they could have done to that bastard.

There’s so little that we know for sure about Spider-Man 3 at this stage, other than what we can infer from the end of Far From Home, which saw Peter Parker publicly exposed as the wall-crawler as well as accused of murder. One thing we’re pretty confident about, though, is that the threequel will continue the naming convention started by Homecoming of having the word “Home” somewhere in the title.
Various titles have been suggested by fans, including Home Run and Home Invasion, but maybe the title has actually already been subtly revealed and we all missed it. Murphy’s Multiverse has pointed out that both Esquire and Maxim have Spidey 3 listed as Spider-Man: Homesick on their sites’ respective upcoming comic book movie pages. Furthermore, the outlet’s Charles Murphy writes that he’s done some digging around and may have discovered where they got word of this title from.

Exclusive: We hear that Screen Gems has preemptively bought Reparations, a script by Jeff Howard and Andre Owens described as an action heist movie interwoven with a socially conscious theme.
Various details about the script are being kept under wraps, but the pitch is: When a lost cache of Confederate gold falls into the wrong hands, an amateur crew comes together to get the gold and use it to fund long overdue reparations. A search for a director is currently underway. Craig Flores, who was behind last summer’s profitable Paramount hit Crawl, is producing under his Bread & Circuses Entertainment label. Crawl received a shout-out on the Viacom investor call Thursday from boss Bob Bakish as one of three hits from the Melrose lot to make money alongside Rocketman and Dora the Explorer. With winter still in full swing, most genre fans are looking for entertainment alternatives they can enjoy from the comfort of their own homes, and February certainly has you covered, because we have over 20 films making their way to various VOD and digital streaming platforms this month.
The indie horror hybrid The Campus kicks things off on the 1st, and the very next day, Tragedy Girls (one of my very favorite films of 2017) finally comes home courtesy of Gunpowder & Sky. Undoubtedly two of the biggest sequels making their digital bows in February are Victor Crowley (February 6th) and Hellraiser: Judgment (February 13th), and Netflix is also keeping busy with a pair of exclusive releases: The Ritual from David Bruckner on the 9th and Duncan Jones’ Mute on the 23rd.

We’ve got a few creepy new trailers and a distinctly less creepy featurette today in our Friday the 13th roundup!
Faith-based animated film The Star features some pretty exciting artists on the soundtrack, and a new featurette was released today giving a behind the scenes look at the production of one of the songs. Everyone from Oprah to Keegan-Michael Key to Christopher Plummer lend their voices to The Star, which is pretty exciting if you ask us. Catch it in theatres November 17.
Halloween is creeping up faster than usual this year, but the spooky movies definitely aren’t disappointing. A trailer dropped for Keep Watching, which might win the award for the month’s creepiest movie.

Tagline: "We're Watching You." Formerly titled Home Invasion, Keep Watching has a second trailer. The first was released this past Summer. The latest clip is a bit more tense as a family fights off a masked group. The film will show, in theatres, for one night only - Halloween Night! And, the film stars: Bella Thorne, Ioan Gruffudd, Natalie Martinez and Chandler Riggs. Fans of home invasion thrillers can find the latest trailer here and an updated film poster. The trailer shows a family surprised by a home invasion. Dad gets the worst of it, while other characters are tormented. It appears that the killers are motivated by evil, Iago-style. But, much is kept in mystery. Screen Gems will handle the theatrical launch in October. The one-night showing will take place at 10:00pm, in the United States. D Films is handling the film's launch in Canada. Though, a release...

Stephen King has always been a hot commodity in Hollywood. We've been seeing his books and stories adapted into films and TV shows since the 70s. But, with It exploding at the box office, he's probably more popular now than ever.
Deadline reports that a new King project is being adapted into a feature film. It's based on a supernatural short story called Suffer the Little Children and it's being adapted by writer and director Sean Carter. This story was published in King’s Nightmares & Dreamscapes and this is what it's about:
Suffer the Little Children is a supernatural thriller that centers on a recently divorced first-grade schoolteacher who notices some “unsettling” traits in the children in her class: flashes of a bizarre texture lurking underneath their skin and a chilling, conspiratorial secrecy to the way they play together. And now, people in her new town are dying mysteriously. Is this all just paranoia,...

"They want us to fight back!" Voltage Pictures has released an official trailer for a horror film called Keep Watching, a creepy voyeur thriller about a family imprisoned by intruders. The concept of this one is a bit uncomfortable, but that's what makes it horror, right? A bunch of cameras are rigged up in a house where a family is tormented, while live viewers can watch as they're killed off. But they don't know if what they're watching is real or staged, they're just told to "keep watching". (Cue eye roll now.) The cast includes Bella Thorne, Natalie Martinez, Christopher Baker, Ioan Gruffudd, and Chandler Riggs. This looks a bit too bland and uninteresting, despite the freaky concept. And I'm guessing no studio wants to deal with the backlash of releasing a movie about watching people die, but it is finished and just waiting for a release. Here's the first...

She’s certainly coming into her own as a bona fide hottie, and Bella Thorne added even more evidence to that conclusion with her latest Flaunt photo spread.
The “Shake It Up” starlet looks absolutely amazing in her skin-revealing snapshots, telling the publication that her new movie “Home Invasion” was her toughest gig yet.
Bella laments, “I just couldn’t get out of character. I would go home crying every day. My mom would be driving me home, and I would be bawling. She doesn’t act, so she had no idea what to do. She would try to put on music to distract me but nothing worked.”...

With Carl having a major role in The Walking Dead Season 4′s latest episode, I thought it would be a great time to catch up Chandler Riggs to find out about his time on set. In part two of our exclusive Q&A feature, Chandler told me about his reaction to having the opportunity to step out on his own in Episode 409, working with Greg Nicotero and Andrew Lincoln, and he teases what’s ahead:
Fans have watched Carl growing up on screen and we’ve seen you grow tremendously as an actor as well. Were you more excited or nervous (or a little of both) when you found out that a majority of episode 409 was dedicated to Carl?
Chandler Riggs: I was really excited. It’s way easier to be in every day to sort of stay in the zone. Working on Mercy and Home Invasion was like that,...

As The Walking Dead continues, fewer and fewer characters from the first season remain. Over the course of the four seasons, we’ve not only seen Carl grow as a character, but Chandler Riggs grow as an actor, and I think Daily Dead readers will especially enjoy his performance in Episode 4.09.
The Walking Dead returns this Sunday and I caught up with Chandler Riggs to ask him all about his work on Season 4. Continue on to read about his favorite moments from Season 4, getting involved in more of the action, learning from Andrew Lincoln, and his experience with fans:
Thanks for taking the time to talk with me, Chandler. I really enjoyed seeing where the writers have been taking Carl in Season 4. What was one of your favorite moments from the first half?
Chandler Riggs: I am such a huge Phineas & Ferb fan, so being in scenes with Vincent (voices Phineas) was really cool.

According to the report, the project has been in development since 2010 — originally with Jay Roach in the director’s chair. We don't yet know whether Leigh Whannel is writing himself a third outing as Specs in Insidious: Chapter 3, but there's news this morning that he's scored himself an acting gig in someone else's project. He'll be joining the home invasion thriller Home Invasion (see what they did there?), showing up to cause trouble for Chandler Riggs, Bella Thorne, Ioan Gruffud and Natalie Martinez.Seemingly along the usual Funny Games lines (but presumably without Haneke's finger-wagging agenda), Home Invasion sees a group of intruders imprisoning the Gruffud clan and putting them through "a life-and-death game with mysterious rules that become clear as the night unfolds". Whether Whannell is one of the invaders is slightly unclear: he's described as a "mysterious guest" who arrives at the house at some point in the procedings. As we said, Whannell wrote himself the role of Specs in the Insidious films, and played Adam in the first Saw,...

14-year-old actor Chandler Riggs is best-known for playing creepy Carl Grimes on the wildly popular zombie apocalypse series The Walking Dead, but soon he'll play a kid terrorized by the living in the aptly titled home invasion thriller Home Invasion. THR reports Riggs and Ioan Grufudd of Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer have joined the cast that already included Shake It Up!'s Bella Thorne and Under The Dome's Natalie Martinez. The foursome will play the family under attack in the feature. Bella and Riggs are set to play the children of Grufudd, while Martinez will play their stepmother. There's no word yet on who will play the home invaders. Penned by up and coming screenwriter Joseph Dembner, Home Invasion follows this family's terrifying experience of being trapped in their own home by intruders who play a life-and-death game that's rules are unveiled as the night goes on.

Even when he's not killing zombies on "The Walking Dead," Chandler Riggs can't get too far away from the horror world. Riggs, who plays Carl on the AMC show, will star in the upcoming thriller "Home Invasion."
According to THR, Chandler will join Ioan Gruffudd, Bella Thorne and Natalie Martinez in the movie, which finds a family being held prisoner in their own home as mysterious intruders force them to play a game with pretty severe consequences.
If "The Strangers," "The Purge" or "You're Next" have anything to say about it, the bad guys in the movie are bound to be wearing creepy masks. The only thing scarier than a burglar is one wearing a sheep's mask. At least Riggs won't have to also worry about turning into a zombie when all is said and done.
No release date has been announced.
