Taking no chances.
RMS19493 September 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Okay, I'll admit trying to balance any movie with both horror and comedy is no easy task. Everyone wants to make the new Shaun of the Dead it seems.

Killer Party had a nice premise, baby shower with Hollywood guests who mostly seem self absorbed and not in touch in the real world, suddenly throw into a zombie attack. Problem one was that there was entirely too many people to try and get a grasp on. Should of stayed more focused on Mary ( the mom to be ), her hubby and another couple. Problem two was the decision NOT to show any violence. Every attack scene was either never shown, quickly cut away from, or when Mary gets attacked to show it all from behind a window curtain.. Very strange decisions. In fact, Its a film that could very easily be seen on Lifetime. It's not a terrible film, just one quickly forgotten. Rachael Drummond who played Mary is a very talented actress with a good comedic sense. I do hope to see more of her down the road.

A different kind of zombie horror film
AlsExGal22 October 2023
A group of friends gather at a baby shower when a strange illness starts turning people into homicidal maniacs. Being creatures of suburbia, they have limited skills with which to meet this survival challenge.

Killer Party was a pretty decent indie horror flick. There was some pretty good acting and they did well using such a large cast in such a small set. There were some enjoyable characters, but unfortunately, when they started to die off, there was no emotion to anything. And when they died off, we didn't really get to see a lot of the kills. So that's a pretty big downfall when it comes to a zombie style film. I also think that being a horror comedy, it should have been funnier. The film did have its moments, but I think it needed a lot more considering that they didn't really leave the one location. So we needed less of the drama and more jokes.

This didn't really classify as a zombie film, so I liked that. I thought they were doing something different with making these people more rabid, but have personalities to them still rather than mindless zombies just hungry for their next meal. Though the story also lacked direction halfway through. When it's going nowhere, you're just kind of waiting for it to end. And with a film like this, you need that point B. You need a place for them to go to make the audience want to still be invested in the film. I liked the characters. I thought we had a wide variety and their personalities were entertaining and it made me either care for them.

Boring, and tedious
bluesto29 August 2016
Warning: Spoilers
At first after watching the trailer I though that this movie might be funny, one of those gems of dark comedy that come every once in a blue moon. I was horribly mistaken, this film is about as funny as drying paint, which is a gracious comment considering how I would have rather watched drying paint. The film was a horrible muddle of poor acting, weak humor, and horrible filming. Though I must admit that 'spoiler alert' the zombies in this film were interesting in the fact that they could talk, this opportunity to possibly add any real comedy or horror to the film was grossly under used. Even in terms of movies that are so bad there good, this movie would still be bad, be it the convoluted and boring plot, the cliché ending, or the monotone of the actors, this film was a major let down and a waist of my time and interest.

You'll Have a Bloody Good Time at The Shower
jtzimm25 January 2015
So, let me get this out of the way first...a lot of great reviews for small, independent films, end up being composed by the friends and family of the director, producer, or various members of the cast. This is not that kind of review. Out of about 50 shorts and features playing at the 2015 New York Horror Show, my horror-loving best friend chose to see this one, and one other. Little did he know, The Shower turned out to take top awards at the festival--and boy, did it deserve it. The other film, not so much.

First off, great cast...which is an anomaly for films of this size and budget. The fact that the plot revolves around a bunch of actors in various stages of success may have made the roles easier to play, but that shouldn't take anything away from their convincing (and super funny) performances. The Shower is about a group of L.A. friends attending a baby shower, when all hell breaks loose, and a virus turns mild-mannered folk into homicidal maniacs.

If you love films that make you giggle one minute, and gasp the next, you'll have a great time at The Shower. From a killer clown to a little girl who deserves a serious time out, anyone can turn, at any time, which keeps the tension turned up nicely throughout. You'll love the characters you're supposed to love, and hate the ones you'll not miss once they get what's coming to them.

As far as tone goes, you have a little bit of pulpy goodness, served up Tarantino-style, with heavy doses of Shaun Of The Dead wackiness and humor. With that, I urge everyone who likes either or both to seek out The Shower. Aside from really enjoying the film, the thing that made it even more special was getting the chance to meet the writer/director, Alex Drummond. Alex was there during the showing of his film at Horror Fest, then stuck around afterward to answer questions.

Roughly 85% of the audience seemed to be friends, family, and extras from the film, so we could really tell how appreciative he was we chose to see his movie, with so many other movies available for viewing. He was funny, charming, gracious and affable, and answered all of our questions both during he Q&A, and afterward at the hotel bar. Oh, and he has dimples for days, but I would swear on a stack of bibles that had no bearing on my appreciation for the funny, twisted, scary slice of horror he served up with The Shower.

Not sure where you can see it, or when or how it will be released, but you can contact the Shower folks, and check out the trailer, at theshowerthemovie.com

great mix of horror and comedy
reddawn-0769128 April 2016
I saw the movie twice with my daughter at some horror conventions. It was my favorite movie at both. I thought there was great acting by everyone, and loved the mix of horror and humor. If you like Shaun of the Dead, you'll like this movie. The special effects were also good. The film was just the right length. I would tell people to catch this film if they are looking for a new horror flick to view. The movie takes place at a shower, infection breaks out, people struggle to make it to a safe place with everyone. The filming was also good and had just the right touch of blood and gore for me. It's the type of film for horror comedy lovers everywhere. i would also like to say at each horror fest that we viewed the movie the room was almost to full, and everyone in the room was enjoying the film, laughing at the right parts, heard all good things as we left the room from people walking around us. hope they make a another movie i would love to see it as well.

Lots of Horror Filled Fun at The Shower/Killer Party
roguehobbit18 April 2016
I had the good luck of seeing The Shower (now Killer Party) at a horror convention, and I loved it, so much so, that when it was playing at another convention I was at, I made sure to see it again. The film is about a group of friends who come together for a baby shower, during which an outbreak occurs, leading to great horror and humor. You get to know the characters and relationships well before they are all drawn into the mayhem that ensues around them, which was very nice to see. Each character has memorable moments, and I enjoyed watching them fight, argue, and work together. To me, Killer Party was a fun ride of a horror film, and I recommend checking it out.

Killer Party is a fantastic indie flick
ethridge-785-20878128 April 2016
I saw the movie at the Macabre Faire Film Festival last year. It's about a bunch of L.A. professionals that get together for a baby shower and the world goes haywire while they are there. Then they fight to survive for the rest of the film.

This thing was just fantastic. It has about a gagillion characters in it, and you would think it was Whedon working his magic with how well all of them are defined and given appropriate screen time. The Director juggles the opening introductions with a skill that is somewhat awe-inspiring.

The cast is superb. Just an excellent group of actors. Every hits their notes perfectly.

Yeah, if you've seen the poster, there's a killer clown. But it's not a movie about a killer clown. That's just one of the many interesting parts of the film. It's really about these characters and how they react to each other during this stressful situation.

And it is FUNNY. Laugh out loud hilarious all the way through. Seriously, i had such a great time watching this movie. Easily one of my favorite films I've seen on the festival circuit in the last several years.

If I had anything bad to say about the movie at all, it's that it killed off my favorite character way too early for my tastes. I mean, it was totally right for the story, but I'm selfish and I wanted more hilarity from this particular actor.

Not sure what else to say. Killer Party was truly excellent and you should make time for it.

A baby shower gone wrong but in a good way!
dgos177 December 2017
Warning: Spoilers
This is a fun flick! If you like comedy and zombies, you'll enjoy this one. The acting is great by the entire cast. The filming is great too. Some of my favorite parts were seeing the men try to find weapons to attack the zombies and all of this happens during a baby shower! If you like horror and comedy similar to Shaun of the Dead, you'll like this one. You will find yourself laughing out loud at their crazy plans to handle the stress they are under. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

This film was an official selection at Shriekfest Film Festival too!

"That Is One Creepy Kid!"...
azathothpwiggins17 May 2021
In KILLER PARTY, a baby shower is spiced up quite a bit when something causes the world to go completely berserk. Maniacal mass murder commences.

This is one gory, fun movie! The male and female shower guests have some hilarious banter, then, they shift into survival mode, as they slowly realize that their party's over.

A refreshing mixture of some classic horror ideas, that gets the humor just right, without coming across as an outright parody of the genre. A low-budget gem that's worth a look!

FAVORITE CHARACTER: Beth (Stephanie Tobey). She's definitely the one to be with during any such apocalypse!...
