Entertaining but not the same...
jaywalkeruk-112 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I've watched NCIS since the beginning and always loved it. I also watched JAG (several times) and loved it too. So, while it was great to see Patrick Labyorteaux back onscreen and back at NCIS, it's strange to see him in a different role. I kept expecting McGee to recognise him and ask if he's working undercover! 😂 I have grown to like each of the characters as they came into the show but it's not the same without Gibbs. That said, Parker is growing into the part and making it his own. This episode is very good, the new SecNav is excellent and I had the wrong "perp" from the beginning. I'm still watching...

Love Lost

Warning: Spoilers
Well, it was certainly clever for NCIS to get involved in a case that at its heart had nothing to do with them, but at the end of the day it fell into the same trap that so many episodes of this show do and that is that they simply do not have enough material to carry an entire episode and it starts to drag and drag.

They did give us a few twists and turns so I appreciate that, and they cast a good actress in the role of the Secretary of the Navy, but I feel like the show is simply coasting at this point. While still decent, it has been quite awhile since we got a true standout episode of NCIS.

The writers really rocked this episode...WOW
esteemdancers-118 November 2022
Watched NCIS for 20 years now. This episode kept me glued to the screen. If not the best ever, it sure is a contender. It has everything to entertain. Hey, I miss Harmon, but the writers are the heart of this show and always have been. And this episode proves that the writing is the #1 reason for the success this show has had. Mark Harmon and different cast members have always contributed 100% to keeping the quality of acting presented each week just top notch. Mark Harmon has maintained a ace performance but Gary Cole is also finding his own way to be a loved fan favorite. Harmon bringing him on board just proves he knows his show and what it takes to stay sharp. Keep on rocking.

The end of NCIS must be due
frank_roby10 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The end of NCIS must be coming to an end very soon.

The writers must be writing these in their sleep nowadays as they just have no passion, no originality or even thought in it.

It's acting by numbers for the staff now.

This episode would have been a good one but it ended up just being the usual comedy one.

The secretary of the Navy is accused of murder would have made a good episode.. unfortunately, this wasn't.

The NCIS agents just do what they want now. Go into rooms without warrants, able to access phones without even having the password, Doesn't data protection exist ?

It's too easy.

No one has a lawyer, people admit to crimes when they don't even need to.

They even have an illegal gambling joint.. how very 1980's.. and it's operating in plain sight.. I mean.. they even added security cameras after the event that helped to prove that the guilty person was guilty.

A perfect place for money laundering but apparently the police are not bothered by it, The secretary of the Navy had an husband that was in debt to a Russian mafia member.. and it's not even a security risk.

The guilty person even managed to get a top secret nerve toxin that only a few people in America has access to... from the dark web...massively in debt but still enough money to buy something so dangerous...of t'internet.

All to get some inheritance money that would tax months to get, and it's not even coming to him.. what he going to do.. kill his wife for her inheritance.

A lot of work and effort for $50k.

There is no tension. No passion..everything is perfect.. it is just too easy.

An okay episode!

Warning: Spoilers
The 20th season of "NCIS" has not been the greatest so far. "Love Lost" is an average episode, it's not awful, but nothing to write home about.

Let's start with the good.

. The production values of the episode are great. "Love Lost" is well-directed, the music fits the scenery and the acting's solid.

. Even though I've seen stories like it, the mystery does occasionally intrigue and there are fine jokes here and there.

But....

. After a promising setup, the case takes a rather predictable turn with a way too obvious identity of a killer (Victor). The story could have agreed benefited from better twists and a tighter pacing. The mystery did drag quite a bit at times. The dialogue is not great either.

Overall, an average episode.

5/10 HK.
