A boring overture, but meant well.

"The Life and Times of Harold Bum" is an interesting film apparently revolving around two drunks committing an insurance scam (or trying to). However, this plot is quite clouded by endless fade transitions, meaningless characters and general run-around-to-every-point plot writing. One found it quite hard to understand what was going on at any given moment. Indeed, some scenes appeared almost totally out of their place, and the repeated addition of parts to the plot complicated its viewing, and the poorly-varied editing and soundtrack made it rather difficult to watch.

With all this said, it is a B-Movie, and is just a start. It was made with good intentions, and I highly commend the director and actors on their efforts, and look forward to viewing improved films in the future.

A great movie

I really liked this film, it reminded me of the Art-house movies of the 70s and 90s. I liked the weird inclusion of Shakespeare's monologues at certain moments in the story. An intellectual fest. The character of Mr Smith try's to find Harold but can't. I wondered how whether Percy would give Harold the money. It was made in Australia and seems to be the only Australian film of recent years that puts Christianity in a positive light. I liked the Professor Buggs storyline as well, the Goldtown people are good citizens. Each place has it's own laws. The residents of Goldtown are told to go to work in different places each month through a town loud speaker. Interesting utopia.
