Well, look at that, we’re up to my lucky number thirteenth Archie’s House of Horrors. And I can’t imagine a better title to celebrate that milestone than Archie Comics: Judgment Day. After all, who doesn’t love talking about the end of the world?
It’s no mystery why apocalyptic settings are, ironically, a fertile playground for horror stories. The stories basically write themselves, as whether we consciously admit it or not, we’re always consumed by the fear of the end of the world. We’re constantly reminded of the doomsday clock and its hands shifting ever closer to midnight. Every day the world throws a new curveball at us and gives us stark reminders that life on planet Earth is not infinite.
That’s why, perhaps, there’s some fun in creating fiction about the end of the world. It gives us the control to...

This article contains spoilers for the entire Knuckles live-action TV-series.
Knuckles the Echidna. He’s rougher than the rest of them, the best of them, tougher than leather, as his famous theme song boasts. Introduced all the way back in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 on Sega Genesis as the titular hero’s nemesis, the spike fisted loner has gone on to become a key part of the franchise’s cast. Reinterpreted over the years as everything from a rapping treasure hunter in Sonic Adventure to a chosen-one savior that, as a baby egg, was nuked by radiation in the Archie comic series.
The Sonic movies haven’t been shy about drawing direct inspiration from past incarnations of the franchise to help inspire their stories so where does the Knuckles series take its main inspiration from? The Genesis games with their lightning quick action? The much-beloved Sonic Adventure series and its focus on Knuckles’ treasure hunting?...

Following their scary good Archie Comics collaboration last year, Cullen Bunn and Dan Schoening are reteaming to continue growing The Cult of That Wilkin Boy with the new one-shot Initiation, and ahead its April 24th release from Archie Comics, we have an exclusive preview to share with Daily Dead readers!
Now working in the music industry as a cunning manager, Bingo convinces musicians to swap their souls for stardom in our exclusive preview below, and here's what artist Dan Schoening had to say about continuing Bingo's hellish story:
"It's such an honor to come back and tell more of Bingo's story with such an amazingly talented team of creatives. This follow-up feels like a natural progression of a rock star that sold his soul for fame and fortune, and all the sacrifice that comes along with it. This time however, the stakes are much higher, and the scale of terror is much bigger in scope.

Tucker Carlson Tricked by YouTubers Claiming They Edited Kate Middleton’s Mother’s Day Photo | Video
YouTubers Josh Pieters and Archie Manners are the duo behind Goon Squad Productions and the platform’s “Josh & Archie” channel, where they regularly prank celebrities and other notables in their frequently viral interviews. On Thursday, the pair revealed a major prank on former Fox News commentator Tucker Carlson, where they took credit for editing Kate Middleton’s infamous Mother’s Day photo.
Things started when Pieters reached out to Carlson’s team via email and claimed he was the person who edited the Princess of Wales’ viral image, which the Associated Press and other photo services later pulled after finding that it had been digitally altered.
After reminding viewers of Middleton’s ongoing health-and-Photoshop-related woes, Pieters noted in the video that Carlson has “interviewed Putin and covered some really important stories” before he cut to a clip of the commentator expressing his disdain for a “plus-sized, obese purple M&m” on Fox News.

In the "All in the Family" episode "Archie the Hero", the bigoted Archie Bunker (Carroll O'Connor) saves the life of an unconscious woman in the back of his taxicab by giving her mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. Later, the woman, Beverly Lasalle (Lori Shannon) comes to Archie's place to thank him for his good deed, and Archie is surprised to learn that she was, in fact, a man in women's clothing. Archie -- as was the central shtick of "All in the Family" -- must struggle through his bigotry and come to terms with the fact that he, gasp, put his mouth on another man's mouth. Lori Shannon, incidentally, was the drag queen persona of standup comedian Don Seymour McLean, a celebrity in the comedy scene until his death in 1984.
In "Archie the Hero," Edith (Jean Stapleton) immediately loves Beverly, and the two become fast friends. Archie is still an a-hole about...

I’m excited to return to Daily Dead with Archie’s House of Horrors. It’s also a perfect way to kick off Archie Horror in 2024, with a second installment of a title that garnered great success for Archie in 2023: Pop’S Chock’Lit Shoppe Of Horrors. We’re returning to this fun anthology for a second serving of terror in Fresh Meat.
Sequels are ubiquitous when it comes to horror. There’s no better franchise game in media than that of the horror sequels. Series like Nightmare on Elm Street, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Friday the 13th, Child’s Play, Saw, Scream, and—probably most notably—Halloween (of which even Archie has had a little fun with Michael Myers in the past), are not just beloved within the horror space, they’re iconic franchises with immediate recognizability. There wasn't a more popular or influential (or controversial) sitcom in the 1970s than "All in the Family." Created by Norman Lear, the series was a stingingly hilarious satire of American attitudes as the country adjusted to the post-Civil Rights Movement era and coped with the increasingly unpopular Vietnam War.
The genius of "All in the Family" was Lear's ability to make every single one of his main characters behave ridiculously without becoming full-on caricatures. Archie Bunker (Carroll O'Connor) was an unrepentant bigot, his wife Edith (Jean Stapleton) was a well-meaning ditz, his daughter Gloria (Sally Struthers) was a work-in-progress idealist who went from dopey to fairly sharp as the series progressed, and his son-in-law Michael "Meathead" Stivic represented everything Archie hated about liberals in one preachy package. We all saw a bit of ourselves and the people we have no choice but to call family in the Bunkers, and...

BBC Studios has bought British broadcaster ITV’s 50% stake in streamer BritBox International for £255 million ($322 million), the companies revealed on Friday.
The streamer was founded in 2017 as a joint venture between BBC Studios, which is the commercial arm of the British broadcaster, and ITV. “The transaction will provide net proceeds including loan repayments and accrued dividends and after tax of around £235 million,” the companies said.
“The sale reflects ITV’s strategy of focusing on supercharging its U.K. advertiser-funded streaming service, Itvx and growing its global Studios division,” ITV added. “The board intends to return the entire net sale proceeds to shareholders through a share buyback which it expects to launch imminently after the full-year results on March 7.”
Under the terms of the agreement, ITV Studios will continue to receive an ongoing revenue stream from BritBox International similar to current levels for the use of ITV content under new extended licensing agreements.

If you're anything like us, you can still hear the sound -- that sickening ping that marked the end of Jennifer Coolidge's tenure as the best part of The White Lotus.
Sorry for opening with a spoiler, but hey -- it's been over a year!
In case you managed to successfully block the incident from your memory, Coolidge's lovably ditzy Tanya McQuoid-Hunt dispatched a crew of gangsters who had it out for her -- but then she fatally conked her head while escaping from the yacht where she'd been held captive.
It was arguably the saddest exit from a show that's given us a couple of them so far.
But on the upside, now there's room for a whole new slate of guests to enjoy a stay at our favorite chain of fictitious luxury resorts!
And based on this week's casting announcement, it sounds like we're in for another round of Emmy-worthy performances.
Sorry for opening with a spoiler, but hey -- it's been over a year!

Dyan Cannon, ex-wife of Cary Grant, and actor Jason Isaacs spoke about the new series Archie and how they were both able to learn new insights into Grant’s life.
Cannon explained to uInterview founder Erik Meers that the series started when director Jeff Pope approached her ten years ago after reading her novel.
“He read my book Dear Cary,” she recalled. “And said let’s make a movie, let’s option your book. I said let’s talk about what that would be, we did. And it’s evolved into a four-hour miniseries because ultimately he felt that an hour and a half couldn’t capture the fullness of what this life was.”

In a new uInterivew, Indian director Zoya Akhtar spoke about her new film The Archies and how it is connected to Indian cinema.
Akhtar created the movie after meeting the founder of Graphic India, Sharad Devarajan, to discuss a separate comic.
“I just by the by mentioned that I was an Archie fan growing up, I grew up reading the Archie comics,” she told uInterview founder Erik Meers exclusively. “The next thing I know he told me it was leased to Netflix and, next thing I know, Netflix calls me and says would you be interested, and it was an offer I couldn’t refuse.”
She explained how the Archie comics were a vital part of her childhood in India and described it as her “portal to America.”
When creating the plotline of the film, Akhtar made sure that it reached the original audience and reached a newer one as well.

Cannon explained to uInterview founder Erik Meers her perspective on the rumors.
“I never saw an indication of that. Once, on a ship liner on the way to England, I saw him be very cozy, flirty with the captain,” she recalled. “But other than that I never saw anything.”

Marketed with a 100-day countdown and a dozen brand collaborations, Netflix’s The Archies is finally here. Adapted for the screen from the “Archie” comics, the film brings the all-American story to an Indian setting in the early 1960s. Sir John Riverdale, an Englishman, first posted in Bombay, fell in love with a beautiful Indian woman named Sitara. It seems Sir John couldn’t resist anything beautiful, so when he found a stunning piece of land somewhere in the mountains, he and his wife took all their savings and their four children, bought the land from a Maharaj, and named their new Anglo-Indian town Riverdale, after him, of course. The town grew, and it became a haven for the half-British, half-Indian kids who had nowhere else to go. After independence, many left the town, moving to England, but those who stayed planted their roots by quite literally planting trees in their central park,...

Leave it to Zoya Akhtar to get you excited about a film about rich kids and their little naive problems, and then take it all away in a 2-hour, 23-minute-long snooze fest. I really wanted to like this film; in fact, I’ve been defending it since the trailers dropped, just to have an objective viewpoint on it all, but now I simply feel embarrassed. The Archies is set in the fictional Anglo-Indian town of Riverdale, somewhere in the north of India. The film follows 17-year-old Archie and his friends (mostly the two girls he’s confused about) as they navigate through friendship, romance, and a real-world problem—the future of their beloved park! As I put those words down, it makes me realize how true to them the film actually is. I would like to say that there are some enjoyable parts in this film, maybe the two dance...

The first image that the word ‘Bollywood’ conjures up is one of song and dance. And Netflix’s “The Archies” promises to be a prime example of that.
“The Archies” is a 1960s-set feature film adaptation of the Archie comics, which are hugely popular on the Indian subcontinent. The musical drama is directed by Zoya Akhtar and produced by Akhtar and Reema Kagti (“Dahaad”) for Tiger Baby and Sharad Devarajan for Graphic India. It is written by Kagti, Akhtar and Ayesha DeVitre (“Kapoor & Sons”).
Young actors Mihir Ahuja, Dot, Yuvraj Menda and Vedang Raina feature in the film’s cast. The offspring of Bollywood royalty are debuting in the film, including Khushi Kapoor, the daughter of the late actor Sridevi and producer Boney Kapoor and sister of Janhvi Kapoor; superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter Suhana Khan; and Agastya Nanda, the grandson of revered actors Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan.

“You can’t create a character like Cary Grant,” says Oscar-nominated screenwriter Jeff Pope (Philomena) of the Hollywood legend, the subject of BritBox’s four-part biodrama Archie. The debonair actor’s ascension from an impoverished English lad, born Archibald Leach in 1904, to movie stardom in films like The Philadelphia Story, His Girl Friday, and North by Northwest is dramatic enough. Add to that Grant’s startling discovery when he was a rising star in the 1930s that the mother he thought had died when he was a boy was actually living in a mental institution and you have, according to Pope, “some story that Dickens might have created.” Starring Jason Isaacs — who donned prosthetics to give him Grant’s dimpled chin — the series jumps between three timelines: the ’60s, when Grant wed the much-younger Dyan Cannon and gave up acting to raise his only child, Jennifer; the ’80s, when he...

As the streaming landscape continues to readjust after a turbulent few years, some platforms are riding the wave more comfortably than others. A case in point is SVOD service BritBox International, which was founded in 2017 as a joint venture by U.K. broadcasters ITV and BBC.
Available in eight markets outside the U.K. including the U.S., Canada and Australia, BritBox offers a uniquely specific output: namely, British content for international audiences. (A sister service with the same name operated solely by ITV is available in the U.K.).
In terms of genre, there’s everything from drama to soaps plus crime, comedy and what BritBox CEO Reemah Sakaan calls “British pastimes,” meaning shows about things like antiques and gardening. The streamer also boasts its own original content, such as upcoming Cary Grant biopic “Archie,” which stars Jason Isaacs (“Harry Potter”) as the Hollywood legend.

The origin of one of Hollywood’s most iconic stars is a story stranger than fiction.
Cary Grant, who appeared in movies including “To Catch a Thief” opposite Grace Kelly, was born Archibald Leach in 1904 to an abusive father in the sleepy city of Bristol, England. While he was a child, Grant’s mother was secretly committed to a mental health hospital and publicly declared dead. The actor only found out she was still alive when he was 31 years old.
Grant is now the subject of “Archie,” a four-part biopic from “Philomena” writer Jeff Pope, made with the cooperation of his ex-wife Dyan Cannon and daughter Jennifer Grant. The series charts the actor’s rise to fame, his struggle with his demons and his relationships with the most important women in his life.

The life of Hollywood icon Cary Grant is getting the small-screen treatment in Archie, a four-part drama from BritBox and Itvx. Deadline has more first-look photos of Jason Isaacs as Grant below.
Jason Isaacs as Cary Grant
The series will air in November on ITV in the UK, and in December on BritBox in all its territories: North America, Australia, South Africa and the Nordics.
From writer Jeff Pope and director Paul Andrew Williams, Archie narrates the story of a young Grant’s (born Archibald Alexander Leach) troubled childhood and how extreme poverty, his father’s adultery and the loss of his older brother, John, tore the family apart and sent his loving mother into a downward spiral of grief and depression.

The television series Riverdale exposed an entirely new generation to the world of Archie Comics, and as many have been discovering, that world is loaded with treats for horror fans.
The aptly titled Archie Horror label branches off from the main comic series to give readers tales of monsters, werewolves, vampires and even satanic cults. These spooky tales evoke the tradition and feeling of classic horror comics such as Tales From the Crypt and The Vault of Horror and remain a quirky highlight in the pantheon of modern horror comics.
But where does one even get started with Archie Horror? Especially with the recent influx of new titles and one shots? Here’s a primer of the best starting titles for those interested in exploring the various chills and thrills that Archie and the gang have cooked up over the years.

All hail the antihero.
The idea of an antihero has always been one that’s appealed to me. Grey areas, especially in morality, make for dynamic storytelling and sometimes, even if we don’t want to admit it, relatable characters.
In horror, villains are often more memorable than heroes—after all, you’re more likely to wear a Freddy Krueger costume for Halloween than a white cropped football jersey, but that doesn’t mean that even the worst villains aren’t without their own tragic backstories. However, a tragic backstory does not necessarily make a villain worthy of sympathy.

It has been 45 years since the release of John Carpenter’s Halloween. And while there are so many unique approaches to celebrating the occasion – killing your babysitter, purchasing Laurie Strode’s house, etc. – there is now yet another way. Debuting at the H45: 45 Years of Terror convention, new prints that bring Michael Myers to Riverdale (or is it Archie to Haddonfield?) is the crossover you had no idea had been inked into existence.
The Halloween / Archie crossover is part of the Archie Horror line, which launched in 2015. While there won’t be a run of comic books themselves, the great Matt Talbot has designed two special prints that will be featured at the aforementioned con. On the work, Talbot said, “Every so often, if you’re really fortunate, a dream project comes along—and this was one of those times. The Archie gang… meeting up with Michael Myers? When...
