Seriously?
media-436-20230930 July 2012
I'm a fan of bad movies, I find them entertaining and El Paso is known as the place where one of the worst movies ever made, "Manos" The hands of faith, had its inception. And while Manos is pretty terrible, (and I tend to have an almost masochistic tendency to sit there and watch it over and over again) The Da Pinche Code tested the limits of my tolerance for bad movies.

I went to the opening in El Paso with very low expectations, but those expectations quickly hit rock bottom during the first few minutes of the film and then started digging to sink even further. Calling this thing a film is giving it too much credit since I've seen better video from middle school A/V students. The plot is nonsensical, the editing can be seizure inducing at times, and the sound (apparently supervised by half deaf people) and lighting are issues thru out the entire movie. The director claims that the movie cost was $350,000, but it must be in confederate dollars (or most likely pesos) because I've seen movies produced on one tenth of that budget with much better production values. Their attempt at meta-humor looks like it was just an excuse to half-ass everything and claim it was on purpose.

Now I have to admit the acting in this movie was not bad compared to other "bad movies". The actors were pretty good considering what they had to work with. Maybe in a different world with a better director and editor this could have been a somewhat funny movie. The starring talent is wasted and the few funny moments that got me thru watching this, were thanks to secondary characters. (Props to the actor that plays the director's assistant, since he was the only one that made me laugh during the entire movie.)

Don't waste your money and time on this film. I saw it for free and I almost demanded my money back. If you want to see what a real Spanish comedy parody looks like check out Saving Private Perez.

It is all for fun

If you go into this movie with a bag of popcorn, a soda, and a smile, you will leave with the last of those things just fine. The film is a fun comedy, and that is all it is meant to be, sure some people, even people who were invited to a screening and watched the movie for free, won't like it but I enjoyed it and I know most will. With a mix of comedy, action, and good looking people, both girls and guys, there is no shortage of fun to be had with this movie. Sure if you go in and watch the movie to get Schindler's List, you might be disappointed, although I also think if you go expecting that from a movie called Da Pinche Code, you really don't get out much. I really enjoyed the film, it is fun, nonsensical and an all around good time, and I believe you will too. It is something different so enjoy! Unless you want to trust people who review a movie badly before it even comes to the theaters!

It's a really funny movie and a great time

I won tickets to go to the Premiere on Tuesday night of this film. I had heard some buzz here in town about it and was interested in watching it, for the name alone which is awesome. I had a blast, it was hilarious, and really fun. Also it was refreshing to see something different on the screen and full of Hispanic characters playing the good guys and the bad guys. The movie was great, some really funny jokes, some very pretty girls, and it never slows down just keeps going which makes it more exciting. I highly recommend going and viewing it, not only to support something that is Transformers, or a remake/reboot of Transformers, but to have a great time, you will really enjoy it. On a side note, I came here to this IMDb page, and I saw two reviews, one of which was positive and good, and the other which was strangely negative. The person who apparently was invited to a Premiere, and that person decides to come here and give a negative review of the movie. That just goes to show that in some places people never change, instead of supporting, or not doing anything, they much rather attack. I had to say something because I think people put in some hard work and did a great product with what looked like not much budget, and this arm chair filmmaker comes here and decides to just destroy their hopes. Rant aside, go and watch the film you will have great time.
